Karl Marx from Levi and Friedrich Engels from Ephraim!

Karl Heinrich Marx (1818-1883) is known today primarily as the co-writer (with Friedrich Engels) of works that laid the foundation for the modern Communist Movement.
The idea of Socialism and Communism had existed before then but they gave it an ideological basis that was adopted widely.
Communism caused much misery and bloodshed. Its fruits are still with us.
It is no longer a favorite doctrine amongst the working class but it still influences intellectuals. Some of the advisers of President Obama are suspected of having been strongly infected by it.
There is however another side to the question.
My father, William Hugh Russell Davis, was an avid student of history and contemporary affairs.
On the one hand he was fanatically opposed to Communism.
On the other hand, he opined that Communism in effect saved the Capitalist system from self-destruction!
Communist ideology enthused and invigorated trade unions and social conscious activists. The Soviet menace and radical agitation pressured Capitalist Powers to placate their working classes as much as they could rather than risk losing everything. [Economic and historical forces were also at work but this nevertheless was one of the factors.] This forced the price of labor to rise and workers conditions to be improved. Consequently the buying power of the public increased. The price of labor also went up. The economic advantage of introducing work-saving techniques and machinery therefore grew. Producers realized that in order to keep ahead it was worth getting hold of the best means available even if it involved an initial expense. [If the cost of hay for horses rises high enough, in the end you will buy a car!].
We thus received more goods at cheaper prices for a public that now had spare money to buy them with.
More money resulted in more products and more efficient ways to produce them.
If it was not for that Capitalism may have collapsed as Marx predicted it would. Left to themselves business people will never pay their workers much more than the minimum they can get away, under the worst conditions. This would result in entrepreneurs not finding anybody to buy their products. Higher wages combined with improved modes of production spell progress!
It may not be a coincidence but with the weakening of Communism and the Workers Movement the USA began a process of globalization. Jobs that would otherwise go to American workers are now farmed out to Indians and Chinamen who work for very little. US citizens now have less money to buy things with and entrepreneurs have less incentive to improve their basic operative systems. This places the USA and the continuation of Capitalism in danger! Use Chinese workers and you are liable to reduce yourself to Chinese levels!
A strong Labor Movement in the USA should and could have prevented this.
Another consideration is that,
Communism may have enabled Russia to defeat Hitler.
Anyway, Brit-Am is not concerned with historical theorizing or ideological considerations. So please moderate your reactions!
Karl Marx, as most of you know, was Jewish. Or rather his father had been Jewish but converted to Lutheranism. The mother of Karl was also born Jewish. Karl, however, married a woman who belonged to the minor German and Danish aristocracy.
Karl Marx was the son of Levi Hirschel (before he changed his name), son of Levi Meir Marx, son of Samuel ha-Levi.
Marx belonged to the Tribe of Levi!
The Levites descend from Levi son of Jacob.
Levi had three sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari (Genesis 46:11).
The Levites were not to receive Territory as a Tribe in the Land of Israel, "because the Lord the God of Israel himself is their inheritance" (Deuteronomy 18:2). They were to be settled in cities of their own or in daughter communities of existing cities. They were to receive a relatively small section of land around the cities to graze animals etc on. They were also free to engage in any other profession they wished to. They had a proclivity for police, administration, and teaching duties.
They were also to receive the first ten per cent of agricultural produce from the rest of Israel.
The second tithe that also had to be paid by every Israelites was to be eaten in Jerusalem. This meant in effect that every family would have an incentive to maintain one of its members permanently in Jerusalem were they would learn Torah (See Sefer HaChinuch, on Maaser Behamah, mitzvah 66).

Many of the Levis were also expected to permanently learn Torah or officiate in religious matters.
Since the Levis were dedicated to the work of the Almighty they were not obligated to participate in war with the rest of Israel.
The present-day Ultra-Orthodox who learn Torah all the time parallel the Levis in the Bible. The State of Israel needs them. We should be thankful that we have them and grateful for what they do. Without them the State of Israel would not exist.
Deuteronomy 7:
12 “Then it shall come to pass, because you listen to these judgments, and keep and do them, that the LORD your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers. 13 And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land... in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you.
The Natziv (1817-1893) learns from this that there must be those who permanently learn Torah even in time of war and that our presence in the land is affirmed by virtue of Talmud learning which is an explanation of the Torah and its commandments.
# Know then that I have sent this commandment unto you, that My covenant might be with Levi, saith the Lord of hosts.
My covenant was with him of life and peace, and I gave them to him, and of fear, and he feared Me, and was afraid of My name.
The law of truth was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found in his lips; he walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and did turn many away from iniquity #. Malachi 2:4-6
Jeremiah 33:
19 And the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying, 20 'Thus says the LORD: ''If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that there will not be day and night in their season, 21 then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levites, the priests, My ministers. 22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea measured, so will I multiply the descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me. "'
We thus find the Levites in effect public officials, dedicated to the public, and supported by public largesse.
This is not Communism BUT it could inculcate a social attitude with socialist aspects.
Marx was not brought up as a Jew. He disliked Jews and wrote anti-Semitic poison against the Jews and even seems to have been influenced by German racial prejudice against Jews.
Nevertheless, could it be that his Levite ancestry somehow played an influence on him??
Not only the social aspects of being a Levite may somehow through ancestral sub-consciousness have played their part but also the fanaticism and extremism for which Levi was noted! The work of Marx (from the exremely little I know about it) may read like academic discourse but he managed to distill within it an attitude that inspired many to give their lives on its behalf.

Jacob the forether of the Tribes of Israel had foreseen that the extremist tendencies of Levi and his brother Simeon were potentially dangerous:
Genesis (Brit-Am Version) 49:
5“ Simeon and Levi are brothers;
Tools of violence are their livelihood.
6 Let not my soul enter their council;
Let not my honor be united to their assembly;
For in their anger they slew a man,
And in their self-will they hamstrung a bull.
7 Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce;
And their grudge, for it is firm!
I will divide them in Jacob
And scatter them in Israel.
The father of the mother of Yair Davidiy, Leo Jacoby, was also known as Joseph Levi. Maybe he too, was from Levi? It takes all kinds. His father had been a professional violinist - a possible Levite indication. He had been appointed to the King of Denmark. Leo himself served as an officer in the British Army at Gallipoli in World War-1 and after that became a succesful businessman.
Friedrich Engels
The partner of Marx, Friedrich Engels (1820-1895), was a Gentile, the son of a wealthy cotton manufacturer in Prussia.
The name Engels is said to derive from Angel or Angle meaning he may have been descended from Englishmen or from one of the ancient Angles most of whom moved to England.
Or he may have been from Simeon elements of which were absorbed by Ephraim and Manasseh.
We have proven elsewhere that the Angles derive from Ephraim.
Engels wrote "The Condition of the Working Class in England" (1844) which even today is considered a classic.
We thus find the possibility that a combination of culprits from Levi and Ephraim (or Simeon) worked a great deal of mischief and maybe a little good!
Or the opposite?
History will tell.
