God blessed Japheth with the 'enlargement' of his descendants who have truly
become the most populous people in the World. Some commentators' say that this
'enlargement' applied not only to the physical characteristic but it also
pertains to the intellectual ability of the Japhetic nations, perfectly
expressed in philosophy, art, literature and music. The brightest manifestation
of it is the Greek culture which has enlightened the World aesthetically.
Unfortunately, Japheth in the End Times will be persuaded by Edom and
allow himself to join the Gog and Magog forces in the battle against Israel.
Instead of serving God, he chooses to fight Him and His people Israel. His end
will be devastating defeat and massive slaughter. His own actions will condemn
him to the tragic, disgraceful finale described in Ezekiel 39:17-20. The house
of Israelites will show the last respect to Japheth by organizing the expended
burial of his multitudes on the Holy Land.
The blessings, God bestowed on Shem, are different in nature. They are
spiritual. Canaan is to be 'servant of servants'; Japheth is to be 'Enlarged';
Shem is to be 'Blessed be the Lord God of Shem' (Genesis9:26). To Ham and
Japheth it was not said: 'God of Ham' or 'God of Japheth'.
Shem is given the spiritual supremacy among the nations, the religious
leadership. And as a result, the three greatest religions on earth sprang out of
Shem (Semites): Judaism, Christianity and Islam. By this blessing to Shem, God
ensured that holiness and righteousness will be preserved through Shem, Abraham,
Moses, and David, from whose seed the Messiah will come.
Only to the Israelites was given the Divine Mission to spiritually transform the
ungodly World and lead it in Holiness and Righteousness to the acknowledgement
of the One and only God of the Universe, the Almighty God of Israel.
"You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth' (Amos 3:2).
'And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation' (Exodus 19:6).
'I will make you to be a Covenant to the people and the Light for Gentiles, that
you will bring My Salvation to the ends of the earth' (Isaiah 49:6).
Because of Israel and through them, all inhabitants of the Earth will be
blessed:
'And all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." (Genesis 12:31).
Israel's mission is not only to become holy and be the light to the Gentiles,
but they have to show example of it to the World and enlighten all the people to
worship God of Israel and His immortal Torah, in order to merit all together the
life in the wonderful, highly spiritual World-to-Come.
To conclude this subject, we will use the wordings of Genesis19:32:
'These are the families of the
sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the
nations divided in the earth after the Flood'.
