support Israel (Guysen.International.News)
The Finnish capital's streets were filled with Israeli and Finnish flags
as participants marched towards the port while chanting slogans in support of
the IDF and waving banners protesting what they claimed was the biased media
coverage of the flotilla raid. The protestors also sang 'Hevenu Shalom Aleichem
(We Brought Peace Upon You)".

EU
to open markets to Palestinian exports (Guysen.International.News)
The European Commission plans to open European Union markets fully to
Palestinian exports in the coming months to help strengthen the Palestinian
economy, the EU trade chief said on Thursday. The EU decision to accelerate
bilateral trade was announced after a meeting between EU Trade Commissioner
Karel De Gucht and Palestinian Economy Minister Hasan Abu-Libdeh. "The European
Commission is expected to propose granting duty-free, quota-free access for
Palestinian exports to the EU in the coming months. It would help to revamp the
private sector," De Gucht said in a statement.

to 35 per cent (Guysen.International.News)
' The minority population in the United States is steadily rising and now
makes up 35 percent of the total, boosted by a surge in Hispanic births and more
Americans who describe themselves as multiracial. New Census estimates for 2009
show minorities added 2.5 percent, or 107.2 million people. The white population
remained flat, making up roughly 199.9 million, or 65 percent, of the country.
2. U.S. Identifies Vast Riches of
Minerals in Afghanistan

Extracts:
WASHINGTON ' The United States has discovered nearly $1 trillion in untapped
mineral deposits in Afghanistan, far beyond any previously known reserves and
enough to fundamentally alter the Afghan economy and perhaps the Afghan war
itself, according to senior American government officials.
The previously unknown deposits ' including huge veins of iron, copper, cobalt,
gold and critical industrial metals like lithium ' are so big and include so
many minerals that are essential to modern industry that Afghanistan could
eventually be transformed into one of the most important mining centers in the
world, the United States officials believe.
The vast scale of Afghanistan's mineral wealth was discovered by a small team of
Pentagon officials and American geologists. The Afghan government and President
Hamid Karzai were recently briefed, American officials said.
'There is stunning potential here,' Gen. David H. Petraeus, commander of the
United States Central Command, said in an interview on Saturday. 'There are a
lot of ifs, of course, but I think potentially it is hugely significant.'
The value of the newly discovered mineral deposits dwarfs the size of
Afghanistan's existing war-bedraggled economy, which is based largely on opium
production and narcotics trafficking as well as aid from the United States and
other industrialized countries. Afghanistan's gross domestic product is only
about $12 billion.
'This will become the backbone of the Afghan economy,' said Jalil Jumriany, an
adviser to the Afghan minister of mines.
The mineral deposits are scattered throughout the country, including in the
southern and eastern regions along the border with Pakistan that have had some
of the most intense combat in the American-led war against the Taliban
insurgency.
3. Natural Gas Bonanza for Israel,
Possible Oil Field as Well

Extracts:
A survey of the natural gas field off the shore of Haifa is to be released
Thursday evening in the United States. According to the Globes financial
journal, the field has been discovered to be even larger than previously
thought.
The field's estimated size has grown several times as more surveys are
conducted. In mid-2009, Yitzchak Teshuva, controlling shareholder who invested
in developing the field, originally said the gas reserves could allow Israel to
be self-sufficient in energy for two decades, but now it seems that this was a
conservative estimate.
Teshuva said Thursday, "The results indicate that in addition to the gas, there
are signs of oil at a greater depth. We have turned Israel into a great energy
power. Today is a holiday for every citizen of Israel. It's a day of joy," He
proceeded to say the Shehecheyanu blessing for new and happy tidings.
