1. Hurricane "Ike" Named After Isaac?
Daniel Duffield wrote:

Hi Yair, I can across a blog entry by Reb Solomon at   http://dreamingofmoshiach.blogspot.com/ that noted Ike is short for Isaac and that the projected path of the hurricane looked like a shofar.  Pretty interesing.  Shalom, Daniel

Brit-Am Comment:
Not bad. Site may be interesting.
Speaks of dreams and autistic children. Mainstream Orthodox Judaism
is usually very reserved, even critical, about such dealings.
Every religion has a superstitious side. The borderline between superstition and genuine religious experience is not always clear.

2. Dave-Browning:
The Unique Case of Egyptian Civilization
Re: Brit-Am Now no. 1225
#1. Queries on Race and Ancient Israelites.
http://britam.org/now/1225Now.html#Queries

Dear Yair, et al,

Concerning Egyptian civilization;

I think we need some perspective here. While it is true Egypt was probably the first great "world class" (i hesitate to use "world class" simply because Egypt never did effectively dominate any area except their own narrow Nile valley, yet they were very advanced and powerful there) empire; there are reasons way beyond their own wisdom or industriousness for this. Actually they were utter failures in terms of the advancement of the human condition, or even their own tribes/culture.

When Egypt rose to its heights, in the early to middle bronze ages it was isolated from the rest of the world. It was protected from its major competitors by an ocean, a vast and treacherous desert, and the utterly primitive jungles to its south. Egypt rose before naval technologies had advanced to the state of transporting huge armies, once we have the appearance of the Carthaginian, Phoenician and later Greek cultures of the late bronze and early iron age, for all practical purposes Egypt is unable to fend off foreign rule both political and economic.

Thinking on this one realizes it was the perfect place for the Almighty to hide Jacob's lil band of misfits. The only place in the world practically, where they could grow into the hundreds of thousands they were when they left Egypt for home.

Also thinking on what an opportunity they had, to become a world leading empire, at least an empire where its citizens enjoyed full and creative lives, and how they blew it, well, its just sad. Jus think of all the resources, and lives, and time they squandered on their tombs. It baffles me sometimes when folks glorify their elegantly piled up rocks, not understanding it is those rocks that destroyed their lives, and their futures. But Egypt is not alone in this proclivity, the Greeks and Romans, the Europeans and all their children have done it too. Instead of building ourselves into a People who can weather the millennia, we prefer to make huge piles *smile*. Its actually much simpler to build monuments.

Ahhhhh but wisdom is justified by her children.

love,
davey

3. Recommendation to Contact Tamar Yonah
From: Fleetservnw@aol.com
Dear Yair
I have read through some of the comments on Tamar Yonah's blog at INN, concerning the LTT's. I think she has done great job in the last two weeks promoting this issue. I know she does not like e mail's, but it would be in order for people to show their support and appreciation for her outstanding efforts, Thank you, R

Brit-Am Comment:
Our impression is just the opposite.
Tamar likes e-mails and would very much want to hear what you have to say.
Contact Tamar, tell her how much we appreciate her sympathetic approach to our cause, put in a plug for Brit-Am and Steven Collins.
We also like e-mails and need your input though we do not always manage to show our appreciation.

Before writing to Tamar see items nos. 6 and 7 below.

Shalom Yair
The simple answer to why Joshua is that G-d told Moses to choose him. The One knows the hearts of all men told Moses to give Joshua a charge and annoint him the leader.

6. The Lost Tribes of Israel Are Not Jewish!
RE Tamar Yonah.
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/3
Tamar refers to:
"this phenomena of people from all over the world wanting to be counted as part of the Jewish nation."
Tamar then goes on to discuss the idea of the Ten Tribes.
Tamar Yonah speaks of the idea of the Lost Ten Tribes as people wanting to be considered Jews.
This is true in part. Many individuals who believe in the Lost Ten Tribes would like to be considered Jews and for the Jews to accept them as just like themselves.
This is a natural outcome of the Arousal of the Lost Israelites towards the End Times.
It finds its expression in a "return" to Hebrew Roots etc among Christians and so on.
Many of those who believe in the Lost Ten Tribes also believe or would like to find that they have Jewish ancestors.
Fair enough. In many cases they may indeed be descended from Jews.
Tamar points out that a Jew is someone who keeps (or at least is obligated to keep) the commandments according to the Jewish Religion. This is also correct.
Brit-Am is NOT saying that Gentiles are Jews.
Neither are we trying to make them Jewish.

Brit-Am however concentrates on affirming descent from the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel.
These are not "Jewish" but rather Israelites who are different but equal.
Nevertheless they too should realize that they are the ones who got "lost".
They need their identity to be affirmed objectively in the way Brit-Am affirms it.
Some people get offended by the idea that they need their identity to be affirmed.
We understand and sympathize with them but we also see the point of view of Judah and everybody else.
This is the world we live in.
Divine Providence has made it so that some descendants of the Lost Ten Tribes will be aroused to the probability that they are descended from Israel but they will only have partial proof of it.
There was a reason for this.
Brit-Am works to increase the reliability and credibility of the proof that does exist and bring it to the attention of others.
In order to function Brit-Am needs your support to do this.

7. Judah and the Return of the Lost Ten Tribes
Tamar says:
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/3
###Only 60 some years ago in Europe, the most cultured part of the world, it was a crime to be a Jew.  You were not considered human, and you were hunted down and exterminated.  Today however, it is becoming vogue to either be a Jew, or cozy on up to Jewish culture and claim that you are either part of our nation, or even more Jewish than the Jews.
This last week, I did a show on the lost ten tribes of Israel.  We learn from our prophets that in the end of days, the lost ten tribes will be returned to the Jewish Nation.  This is a very exciting thing, however, the road may be bumpy.###
In reply consider the following:
Summary and Adaptation of The Brit-Am Commentary to Isaiah:
http://www.britam.org/isaiah/Isaiah46to50.html

The Lost Ten Tribes will also return. The Jews of Judah will meet the return of the Lost Ten Tribes with mixed reactions:

[Isaiah 49:21] THEN SHALT THOU SAY IN THINE HEART, WHO HATH BEGOTTEN ME THESE, SEEING I HAVE LOST MY CHILDREN, AND AM DESOLATE, A CAPTIVE, AND REMOVING TO AND FRO? AND WHO HATH BROUGHT UP THESE? BEHOLD, I WAS LEFT ALONE; THESE, WHERE HAD THEY BEEN?

In other words, the Jews will ask where were all those now identified as Israel when the Jews needed help and were alone? According to the Midrash (Pesikta Rabati 32:10) this reaction of the Jews will take place WHEN THEY SEE THE THREE EXILES OF THE LOST TEN TRIBES RETURNING!
On the one hand those few people among the Gentiles who have helped the Jews have more often than not belonged to the Lost Ten Tribes. On the other hand these nations were powerful and rich ones and they could have done much more to help than they did. There were times even when the Lost Ten Tribes had acted as the adversaries of Judah.

An extract from the Zohar (Breishit, VaYechi, 88m, Sulam edition) commenting on the above verse and showing that it refers to the Lost Tribes is followed by:
Isaiah continuing in Chapter 49 to speak of the ingathering of the Lost Tribes as well as that of Judah and of reconciliation between the Lost Tribes and Judah.
This brings us back to an earlier section in Isaiah.

[Isaiah 11:12] HE WILL RAISE AN ENSIGN FOR THE NATIONS, AND WILL ASSEMBLE THE OUTCASTS OF ISRAEL, AND GATHER THE DISPERSED OF JUDAH FROM THE FOUR CORNERS OF THE EARTH.

[Isaiah 11:13] THE JEALOUSY OF EPHRAIM SHALL DEPART, AND THOSE WHO HARASS JUDAH SHALL BE CUT OFF; EPHRAIM SHALL NOT BE JEALOUS OF JUDAH, AND JUDAH SHALL NOT HARASS EPHRAIM.

The Zohar goes on to explain Isaiah 49:21, the question `WHO HATH BEGOTTEN ME THESE?'
This, says the Zohar, refers to those who were lost and will be found.

The attitude towards Newcomers of non-Israelite stock is also considered.
Some will be rejected and others accepted.

The real and proper attitude that will hold towards the non-Israelite stranger (who previously of his own volition had joined himself to Israel) will be to accept him as a full-fledged citizen as stated in the Book of Ezekiel:
Ezekiel (ch.47) spoke of the future apportionment of the Promised Land amongst the Twelve Tribes of Israel in the Messianic era. The area spoken of includes modern day Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Israel, and additional parts of neighboring lands. This final re-division of the land takes place after certain physical geographical and climatic changes occur. Ezekiel also speaks of apportioning The Land to "The strangers [i.e. non Israelites] that sojourn amongst you": The strangers who identify with you will be counted as the same as you. "So shall ye divide this land among you according to the tribes of Israel" (Ezekiel 47;21).
"AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS, THAT YE SHALL DIVIDE IT BY LOT FOR AN INHERITANCE UNTO YOU, AND TO THE STRANGERS THAT SOJOURN AMONG YOU, WHICH SHALL BEGET CHILDREN AMONG YOU; AND THEY SHALL BE UNTO YOU AS BORN IN THE COUNTRY AMONG THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL.
"AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS, THAT IN WHAT TRIBE THE STRANGER SOJOURNETH, THERE SHALL YE GIVE HIM HIS INHERITANCE.."
   (Ezekiel 47;22 23).
