1. New BAMBI Broadcasts
(a) Parshat HaShavua (Weekly Torah Portion) Ki Tisa from Last Week

The New BAMBI Broadcast from last week was given the wrong URL.
Below is the correct address:

Ki Tisa
Exodus 30:11-34:35
The Golden Calf and the God of Israel and the Choseness of Israel
http://www.britam.org/Broadcasts/NewBambi.html#GC
(ca 44 Minutes)
PaKiTisa.mp3
Deals with:
The half-shekel piece, Atonement through Giving, Incense, Annointing Oil, Shabat, the sin of the Golden Calf and an explanation for it,  the only GOD is the God of Israel as HE reveals HIMSELF in the Bible, Divine Providence, the Choseness of Israel.

For uninterrupted listening it is preferable to first download the broadcast to your hard disk.
If after hearing the broadcast you do not want it taking up space on your disk simply delete what has been saved and later empty your "rubbish".

These messages are often important and worth hearing.

2. Garrett Reichert:  "honored to be an isrealite"
Subject: cool web site

You guys have the coolest web site. I am an American, living in the United States. I had no idea that jews any where of any significant number cared about the lost ten tribes. I thought they considered them no longer Isrealite. I read your stance on missionising to jews so I will be as considerate as possible. My LDS christian denomination has believed the same thing as what you are saying for more that 150 years. I have ancestry you would correspond to the lost ten tribes, so that would make me an Ephramite. That would make your organisation and lineage like an older brother to mine. I wish I could tell you more about our doctrine concerning messiah ben joseph, the lost ten tribes, the coming messianic era, ect, but will not being sensitive to your feelings. I do belive the Jews, and house of Isreal to be Gods chosen or covenant people. I am honored to be an isrealite and as such would be glad to be a friend to your people. I hope for peace there in the country of isreal and around the world. Keep up the good work, gather Isreal.

3. Why Does Ephraim Not Keep the Law Today?
From: R. Keith
Subject: Re: 1-Kings 8 The Dedication of the Temple and the Prayer of Solomon

In a message dated 3/15/2009 6:51:10 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, britam@netvision.net.il writes:
http://www.britam.org/Kings/1Kings8.html
[1-Kings 8:58] THAT HE MAY INCLINE OUR HEARTS UNTO HIM, TO WALK IN ALL HIS WAYS, AND TO  KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, AND HIS STATUTES, AND HIS JUDGMENTS, WHICH HE COMMANDED  OUR FATHERS.
We should all want to do the will of the Almighty and keep HIS commandments.
This is not easy.
It may be especially hard for "Ephraimites" who technically speaking are not obliged to keep the Law. Nevertheless many Ephraimite descendants of the Lost Ten Tribes are being aroused by Divine Providence to Keep the Law.
Some of them want to but lack the strength to do so.
Others want to, probably are strong enough to do so but they do not know how.
Pray to God, remind HIM of HIS promises and of this prayer of Solomon and the Almighty will help.
This Prayer of Solomon is not only a request. It is a promise of Prophetic significance.
Question:
What do you mean by "technically speaking?"  Please explain!
Are not Abraham, Isaac and Jacob the forefathers of the "Ephraimites" and were not "Ephraimites" the subjects of King Solomon?

Shalom, R. Keith

Brit-Am Answer:
You are probably relatively new to this group.
We have answered this question in the past on numerous occasions.
Even though we say that in general terms descendants of the Lost Ten Tribes are to be found concentrated amongst certain peoples we cannot say that any particular individual is definitely a descendants of Israel.
See:
http://www.britam.org/Questions/QuesLaw.html
See:
Joseph and the Law.
Do
Ephraimites have to Keep the Law of Moses in our time as distinct from the End Times?
http://www.britam.org/worship.html
The Prophets said that the Exiled Ten Tribes of Israel (Joseph) would be divorced and not under the Covenant during their Exile, e.g. Ezekiel 16:61; Jeremiah 3:8, Hosea 1:9.
There are additional sources in the Bible, Rabbinical Exegesis, and Halachic Literature.
It is a complicated issue.
In the past,
We have debated it and defended our position.
We have been attacked over it and lost support because of it.
Types who dislike Brit-Am have tried to use this point to hurt us.
More details may be found in our Archives.
We may have been a little too apologetic about the whole business.
We are somewhat tired of humoring "Ephraimites" as if they really want to keep the Law and only Judah is preventing them.
It is time to stop playing games.
If "Ephraimites" really believe they should keep the Law why do they not convert to Judaism or at least keep the commandments as  the Jews do?
Or alternately if they are prejudiced against Rabbinical Interpretations why do they not try to keep the Law some other way?
Some Ephraimites do try to keep some of the mitsvot but they do it as they see fit and as it is convenient to themselves.
This may be fair enough but at least let them admit what they are doing.
