1. Jerusalem Table Piece by Thomas Turner

http://www.britam.org/walnut%20topo%20overview.JPG

http://www.britam.org/group%20shot.JPG

The size of the object displayed according to the example sent to
Yair Davidiy is 7.75 inches by ca. 6.5 inches and it stands about
3 inches high.
I am very pleased with the example sent me. I show it off to all our visitors.
My son Yehonatan who knows about these things is also greatly enthused by it.

The piece is carved out of wood. It reproduces the contours of Jerusalem with an outline
of the Old City. It can be seen how the River Valleys of  Gai Hinnom, Tyroppean, and the Shiloach
encompass the city from both sides and intersect it forming the triangular shape of a SHIN
which represents the name Shadai which is a name of the Almighty.
It also shows a protrusion on the Temple mount like a shofar.
These pieces are for sale and may be obtained from Tom Turner

who also produces the Two Sticks representing the re-union of Judah and Joseph
mentioned in Ezekiel 37.

2. Jay Tompkins: The Tribe of Benjamin and British Royalty?
Shalom Mr. Davidiy:

Is it a myth or is it fact that Benjamites are left handed?  In the
Pseudopigraphic story of Joseph and Asenath, during a battle between
Pharaoh's son and Benjamin, Pharaoh's son receives a mortal wound to his
left temple.  This implied to me that Benjamin held his sword in his
left hand.

Somewhere I remember an author showing a connection between Benjamin and
some of the English Monarchs.  I noticed from some paintings of King
Henry VIII that he was left handed.  One painting showed him holding his
sword in a joust, with his left hand, in another, a baby picture, he
grasped a rosary with his left hand.   I have a book named The Holy
Blood and the Holy Grail.  Chapter 11 is actually a strange and
enigmatic tale showing a connection between the House of Benjamin, those
who escaped the near genocide of Benjamin, described in the book of
Judges and the medieval knights who occupied the Temple Mount around
1099.

One of your articles here recently showed a connection between the
Normans with Benjamin.  I have realized this for many years.  Wasn't
William the Conqueror a Benjamite as well as a Norman?  Maybe I am too
much a believer in things I want to believe in but certainly I have read
much that connects both British and Scottish Royalty with Benjamin as
well as Judah.

3. Dennis McGinlay:  'as the stars of the sky'
Dear Yair

Ray Lee's piece about the number of descendants promised to Abraham shows
two things. 1. Human reasoning is not enough to learn the truth about Gods
will and purpose. Many great minds have studied the scriptures and
understood nothing 2. Understanding comes directly from God. It is a gift,
not a talent. It is his understanding. Not yours.
There are two ways to understand the quote 'as the stars of the sky'. 1. The
observable number of stars in the sky during Abrahams life were possibly a
few thousand or more. This is the human reasoning approach. Pragmatic,
scientific, and logical. Gods purpose for mankink however is to populate the
universe with his offspring into the future for ever, and that will be
billions indeed.
As the scripture says understanding will come from 'here a little, there a
little'. but only with the help of God's spirit.
God Bless
Dennis McGinlay

4. Ian McCrae: Scots Part of Israel.
"Jock" (Jacob) A Nickname for Scots

Dear Yair,

Thank you also for your very informative newsletter with information of
the Scots with regard to the Declaration of Arbroath.   In Arbroath
Abbey they used to have a yearly pageant, of a very high standard,
depicting this part of Scottish history, with all the characters in
period costume.  It was held at night in floodlighting, and I have to
say the reading of the Declaration of Arbroath in this physical and
historical setting was one of the highlights of my life as a Scot, and
it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand out, and tears start
from my eyes.  If they start doing this pageant again, which I hear is a
possibility, it is an absolute must for any Scot.

The point I want to make is that without a connection between the Scots
and Israel which was common knowledge to the educated people of the
time, and that would ONLY be the nobility, there seems absolutely no
point in bringing the Israelite crossing of the Red Sea into a document
like the Declaration of Arbroath.   It is my firm belief that the very
fact that this reference is there at all is as much proof as I need to
confirm that the educated people of Scotland in the 14th Century
considered themselves a part of Israel.

That's good enough for me.  I consider myself an Israelite by my
heredity.

If you like, the prophecy from the Tanach applies to me, which says that
in those days people will take hold of the coat of a Jew and say to him,
"We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you".

Question.   Some one told me that the word "jock" is Hebrew.  What does
it mean ?   Scots refer to each other as Jock, and are known as Jocks.

Best Wishes,

Ian McRae

Answer: The origin of the nickname "Jock" for Scotsman is disputed
but most authorities seem to consider it a shortened version of Jacob,
the same as the English form, "Jack".
