yes there may be a connection to Brother Jehonathon.  On Rosh Chodesh we
read the account of David and Jonathan's covenant;  let's see now what
tribes were they from?

Comment: Brother Jonathan was the old symbol for the USA before Uncle Sam.
Jonathan in the Bible was the son of Saul of the Tribe of Benjamin. Even
though most of Benjamin was destined to remain with Judah the Tribe of
Benjamin was considered in some way as representative of the House of Joseph.
e.g.

[2-Samuel 19:16] AND SHIMEI THE SON OF GERA, A BENJAMITE, WHICH WAS OF
BAHURIM, HASTED AND CAME DOWN WITH THE MEN OF JUDAH TO MEET KING DAVID.

[2-Samuel 19:20] FOR THY SERVANT DOTH KNOW THAT I HAVE SINNED: THEREFORE,
BEHOLD, I AM COME THE FIRST THIS DAY OF ALL THE HOUSE OF JOSEPH TO GO DOWN

Jonathan and David had sworn an eternal covenant between them:

UNTO SAUL, THAT THE SOUL OF JONATHAN WAS KNIT WITH THE SOUL OF DAVID, AND
JONATHAN LOVED HIM AS  HIS OWN SOUL.

[1-Samuel 18:3] THEN JONATHAN AND DAVID MADE A COVENANT, BECAUSE HE LOVED
HIM AS HIS OWN SOUL.

[1-Samuel 20:16] SO JONATHAN MADE A COVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF DAVID,
SAYING, LET THE  LORD EVEN REQUIRE IT AT THE HAND OF DAVID'S
ENEMIES.

[1-Samuel 20:42] AND JONATHAN SAID TO DAVID, GO IN PEACE, FORASMUCH AS WE
HAVE  SWORN BOTH OF US IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, SAYING, THE LORD BE BETWEEN

Brother Jonathan.

When Washington was in want of ammunition, he called a council of officers,
but no practical suggestion could be offered. We must consult brother
Jonathan,said the general, meaning his excellency, Jonathan Trumbull, the
elder governor of the State of Connecticut. This was done, and the
difficulty was remedied. To consult brother Jonathan then became a set
phrase, and brother Jonathan grew to be the John Bull of the United States.

2. Phoenician Boats = Viking longships?
I recently came across a work in Hebrew by
Zevi Herman an Israeli authority on ancient shipping and author of a book
("Amin, Yamim, Oniot", written in 1962) on the subject.
Herman believed that the ancient Israelites were involved in Phoenician
sailing enterprises. He stated that Phoenician
ships reached Britain and Cornwall and possibly also the Baltic Sea in
northern Europe.
Herman said that the Phoenician small long range ship (known to the Greeks
as "Hyppo", i.e. the "horse") is in effect almost identical in both
structure and appearance with the later Viking longship of Scandinavia. The
"Hyppo" had the carved head of horse at the front and the tail of a fish at
the rear. He has illustrations proving his point showing the similariy
between Viking ships and Phoenician ones.
There were two types of Phoenician ships, the hyppo and a larger type. Both
types were used by the Phoenicians to transport exiled Israelites to Spain
and the west. We explained this partially in "Lost Israelite Identity" and
in "Origin". New evidence confirms the conclusions we made and adds
additional clarification to them.
