As you all know America was named after Amerigo Vespucci
and Brit-Am has shown how the name "Amerigo" or "America"
was derived from a Late Latin permutation of the Hebrew name
"Machir" or "Ha-Machiri". Machir was the first born son of Manasseh.
"Ha-Machiri" was used as a late Jewish-Hebrew nickname connoting
"Belonging to Machir", or "The Man Known as Machir" BUT the original
Hebrew meaning was "The People of Machir". Since we believe in Divine
Providence
and in the significance of names then it was no accident that America
received the name it did.

The COMMANDMENTS are more important as the lamp holds the oil and the wick
without which there would be no light or LAW.
So GODS Servant has a big job cut out, to bring God's commandments and laws to the Nations.

Answers:
The Israeli government would not recognize you as a Hebrew for
several reasons:
a. NO ACCEPTED PROOF: Your belief that you are descended from Israel may
well be true and Brit-Am studies may confirm it concerning the population
you belong to in general BUT these proofs cannot AT PRESENT be applied on
an individual basis. Furthermore these proofs are not known on the whole to
the Israeli public though we hope to change that situation. Whether we in
Brit-Am succeed in spreading this knowledge to the Israeli public including
governmental and rabbinical bodies is dependent in part on how much support
we receive to enable us to do that. The First step will be to publish a
work in Hebrew we have in preparation. For this we need funding.
b. RELIGIOUS DIFFERENCES: If you do not belong to the Jewish religion you
could not be accepted. This problem could be partly resolved by good will
on both sides, supporting Brit-Am studies and spreading knowledge of them
along with other steps. Even so, our Biblical studies have indicated that
only towards the Messianic Era will this problem be resolved. We spoke of
this at some length in our book "Ephraim".
c. PRESENT GOVERNMENT POLICY: Who is acceptable to come to Israel is now
decided by the Interior Ministry. This post is now held for political
reasons by the anti-religious Shinui Party and the policy is arbitrary and
somewhat unpredictable. Hopefully this is a temporary situation.
COMING TO ISRAEL: THE BRIT-AM UNDERSTANDING
We encourage you to come to Israel for a trip or holiday.
We have Christian and non-Jewish supporters and personal friends who live
in Israel and some of whom have visa problems
and difficulties in extending their stay. We sympathize with them and on
the individual level would do what we could to help them.
Unfortunately this is not very much, if anything. Apart from these
individual cases we do not advise non-Jewish people to attempt to
settle in Israel at this stage even if they do consider themselves to be
Israelites.
IN GENERAL:
Brit-Am holds that:
Permanently dwelling in the Land is contingent on keeping the Law and being
recognized as Israel. At present only Judah fulfills this condition.
Judah holds a portion of the Land in its own right and also on behalf of
all the other tribes. Judah should be assisted in this.
It was prophesied that Joseph would assist Judah in this task and peoples
we have identified as dominated by Joseph have indeed been
of great assistance up to now despite frequent backtracking and some double
dealing. Historical records justify our identifications
as explained in our works.
The Lost Ten Tribes will return and will also inherit the Land including
all the region between the Nile River up to the Euphrates River and beyond
and also Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, parts of Turkey in the west and the Isle of Cyprus.
The Lost Ten Tribes will return on their own as one body in a group (or
groups) and re-unite with Judah.
How this will happen we do not know nor do we have to know at this stage.
Until this happens individuals who wish to return and dwell in the Land
should do so on the terms of Judah
since Judah is the responsible party in this area at present.
Brit-Am does not encourage non-Jewish Israelites to return permanently to
Israel at this stage, apart from exceptional cases.
We can understand how some people inspired by the driving force of awakened
Israelite identity may want to come to Israel now.
This feeling shows an awareness of the approaching Messianic Era but is not
applicable at present.
Things must be done in stages.
The first stage is awareness of Israelite Identity both among those who are
descended from the Lost Ten Tribes
and amongst Judah. This is the task that Brit-Am has taken upon itself (or
was given from Above) and Brit-Am should be assisted
by yourself and by all those who are aware of these truths.
Incidentally, a Rabbinical tradition says that before the Children of
Israel came out of Egypt a large group from the Tribe of Ephraim broke free
from Egyptian bondage and attempted to enter the Land of Canaan but were
killed in doing so. They say that this event is hinted at in the
Book of Chronicles:
[1-Chronicles 7:20] AND THE SONS OF EPHRAIM; SHUTHELAH, AND BERED HIS
SON, AND TAHATH HIS SON, AND ELADAH HIS SON, AND TAHATH HIS SON,
[1-Chronicles 7:21- AND ZABAD HIS SON, AND SHUTHELAH HIS SON, AND EZER,
AND ELEAD, WHOM THE MEN OF GATH THAT WERE BORN IN THAT LAND SLEW, BECAUSE
THEY CAME DOWN TO TAKE AWAY THEIR CATTLE.
Even if the said tradition is not historically correct (though it well may
reflect a real event) the principle that it stands for remains. Historical
processes and future events are determined by a Divine Timetable. It is
not always a good thing to push for something whose time has not yet come.
I repeat if you read Brit-Am publications, our books, our Bible
commentaries, our e-mail articles and discussions, you will see that a
constant theme
that recurs in study of Scripture and relevant Commentary is that the Lost
Ten Tribes will return and settle in the Land of Israel, they will unite
with Judah
BUT they will do this as whole groups at set times determined by the Prophets.
One other thing:
You emphasize your growing Israelite identification with your acceptance
of Torah principles and with your keeping
important aspects of the Mosaic Law. This is a an increasing
phenomenon. Some people are critical of this trend but
I personally see it as an indication of arousal on the part of Lost
Israelite Tribes and as an expression of returning to (or wishing to
return) to their ancestral source.
At the same time it is equally important in my opinion at this stage to
study the Bible, to study Brit-Am literature and related writings,
and to go over Biblical proofs concerning Israelite ancestry.
We all need (Brit-Am included, and sometimes especially Brit-Am) an
increased degree of modesty and humility
to make an effort to know the truth and spread positive knowledge.

Maybe. We have no way of knowing if Tea Tephi ever existed or not. The fact
that the legend exists is interesting.
A British Israel web-site says about Tea Tephi:
<<Tradition records the coming of the royal princess, Tamar Tephi, to
Ireland in an ancient sailing ship in the year 583 B.C. Princess Tephi (a
direct descendant of King David of the Bible) was the daughter of Zedekiah
(the last King of Judah in Jerusalem) who was taken captive to Babylon. It
is believed that after she made her escape to Ireland with Jeremiah (famous
prophet of the Old Testament), she married Eochaid the Heremon, a prince of
Israelite descent and closely allied with the tribe of Dan. From Ireland,
this throne subsequently moved to Scotland, and finally to England, where
it is established today under Queen Elizabeth......
<<The College of Heralds (London) has traced Queen
Elizabeth II to be the 144th direct descendant of King David. With an
awareness of God's great heritage and promise, a special medal was struck
to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2 June 1953, clearly

Brit-Am in the past has discussed Tea Tephi and similar sources several
times. In the past we have stated:
BARUCH THE SON OF NERIAH was the right-hand son of Jeremiah. Baruch or a
certain "Simon Berak" or something of the like appears in some Irish
legends. These legends state that a daughter of King Zedekiah of Judah came
to Ireland with Jeremiah or with Baruch the son of Neriah. The daughter was
called Tea Tephi. She married the son of the King of Ireland. From this
union, it is claimed, descend the later Kings of Scotland and ultimately of
Britain. Also nearly every President of the USA is descended from this
union. So, state various sources.
Enthusiasts in the past have adduced all kinds of genealogical
permutations in order to prove that the reigning house of Britain is
descended from this eastern princess named Tea Tephi (presumed daughter of
Zedekiah, king of Judah of the House of David) who married an Irish king,
whose descendants moved to Scotland and from there they eventually
inherited the English Throne. It may not be necessary to go back so far in
such an involved way to make the same point, and anyway the male line is
what counts.
Another fount of the Davidic line may have penetrated West
European nobility via France! There was once a semi-autonomous Principality
in Narbonne (southern France) described by Arthur J. Zuckerman ("A Jewish
Princedom in Feudal France, 768-900, " New York, 1972). It was ruled by a
Jewish Prince of the House of David whose offspring intermarried with the
aristocracy and Royal Line of France and these with that of Normandy,
Scotland, and England. Amongst the Welsh, Scottish, English, and other
groups in Europe there were families who believed they descended from King
David of Judah.
It therefore follows, that (theoretically at least)
present-day descendants of David may be extremely numerous. Compare this
possibility with verses in Jeremiah chapter 33:
[Jeremiah 33:20] THUS SAITH THE LORD; IF YE CAN BREAK MY COVENANT OF THE
DAY, AND MY COVENANT OF THE NIGHT, AND THAT THERE SHOULD NOT BE DAY AND
NIGHT IN THEIR SEASON;
[Jeremiah 33:21] THEN MAY ALSO MY COVENANT BE BROKEN WITH DAVID MY SERVANT,
THAT HE SHOULD NOT HAVE A SON TO REIGN UPON HIS THRONE; AND WITH THE
LEVITES THE PRIESTS, MY MINISTERS.
Shoumatoff points out that every year the number of family surnames is
diminishing. More and more people are descended from less and less
ancestors. Most Presidents of the USA are related to each other and are
descended from British Royal Lines. It may be that they too are somehow
descended from King David. Many of them have believed that such is the
case. So too, many of the Royal Lines of Europe have a belief that they
derive from King David.
[Jeremiah 33:22] AS THE HOST OF HEAVEN CANNOT BE NUMBERED, NEITHER THE SAND
OF THE SEA MEASURED: SO WILL I MULTIPLY THE SEED OF DAVID MY SERVANT, AND
THE LEVITES THAT MINISTER UNTO ME.
David was promised that the Rulership over Israel (or at least part of it)
would always come from him.
In addition. the name Tea Tephi may be derived from that of a daughter of Solomon
[1-Kings 4:7] AND SOLOMON HAD TWELVE OFFICERS OVER ALL ISRAEL, WHICH
PROVIDED VICTUALS FOR THE KING AND HIS HOUSEHOLD: EACH MAN HIS MONTH IN A
YEAR MADE PROVISION.
[1-Kings 4:11] THE SON OF ABINADAB, IN ALL THE REGION OF DOR; WHICH HAD
TAPHATH THE DAUGHTER OF SOLOMON TO WIFE:
Taphath the daughter of Solomon may have given rise to the legend of Tephi.
From Dor were exiled Israelites to Spain and from there they moved to
Ireland and Britain.
Also appointed as officers over various regions were "Ben-Geber" (The son
of Geber) who had the towns of Yair and Geber the son of Uri.
[1-Kings 4:13] THE SON OF GEBER, IN RAMOTH-GILEAD; TO HIM PERTAINED THE
TOWNS OF JAIR THE SON OF MANASSEH, WHICH ARE IN GILEAD; TO HIM ALSO
PERTAINED THE REGION OF ARGOB, WHICH IS IN BASHAN, THREESCORE GREAT CITIES
WITH WALLS AND BRASEN BARS:
[1-Kings 4:19] GEBER THE SON OF URI WAS IN THE COUNTRY OF GILEAD, IN THE
COUNTRY OF SIHON KING OF THE AMORITES, AND OF OG KING OF BASHAN; AND HE
WAS THE ONLY OFFICER WHICH WAS IN THE LAND.
Yair (Jair) and Geber (Gabrain) and Uri and Gilead are all prominent names
in ancient Irish and Scottish legends and ancestral place-names.
b. The name Britain may be derived from the Hebrew "Brit" meaning covenant
and from "Brit-Am" meaning Covenant of the Peoples as explained by us
several times and in an article on our web-site.

c. THE RED HAND OF ULSTER.
(Adapted from "Lost Israelite Identity"):
In addition to the descent from Jair, (Jair though born
to Segub son of Hezron son of Pharez of Judah was actually counted with
Menasseh), Calcol was also recalled. Camden18 (1551-1623) stated that
Calcol son of Zerah son of Judah sailed from Egypt to Spain , and then on
to Ireland where he founded Ulladh. "Ulladh" (i.e. Ulster) has actually a
name similar (in some types of Hebrew pronounciation) to that of ELADAH of
Ephraim (1-Chronicles 7;20).
Zerah was the brother of Pharez and both were born to
Judah (son of Israel) from Tamar. In Celtic southwest Britain Ptolemy
recorded the Tamarus River (there was also a Tamarus River in northwest
Spain). Zerah and Pharez were twins. The manner of their birth is described
in the Bible.
"And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that,
behold, twins were in her womb.
"...When she travailed, .. the one put out his hand: and
the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This
came out first.
"And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that
behold, his brother came out: and...his name was called Pharez.
"And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet
thread upon his hand and his name was called Zarah (Genesis 38;27 30).
The official symbol of Northern Ireland (Ulster) was a
scarlet hand superimposed upon the Star of David which universally is taken
as representing the Tribe of Judah and appears upon the flag of the modern
State of Israel. The Star of David has twelve junctional-points and shows
how the Tribes of Israel were encamped around the Tabernacle when they came
out of Egypt. The red hand has been interpreted to represent Zarah of Judah
father of Calcol who according to the legend quoted above sailed to Ireland
and founded Uladh (i.e. Ulster).
The red hand has also been associated with an ancient Irish hero (O'Neil)
who cut off his hand to save others.
Even so, sociological reports affirm that the founders of Ulster in the
modern sense believed themselves effectively to be
descended from Israel and that this belief is reflected in traditional
ceremonies they still hold.
Bennett states that,
"the ancient and traditional emblem of Ulster was and
still is a Red Hand circled by a Scarlet Cord".
"Three of Ulster's six counties, as well as the towns of
Bangor and Dungannon, have the Red Hand as part of their official emblems"
From Ireland, the Scotts migrated to Scotland, and the Red Hand, says
Bennett:
"appears in the Arms of several of the old families and
in those of at least fourteen of the Clan Chiefs: Davidson, MacBain,
MacNeil, MacNaughton, MacPherson, MacGillivray, MacDonald of Sleat,
Clanranald, and Shaw of Rothiemurchus".

The northern Tribes of Israel are described throughout Scripture as lost,
The concept is borrowed from the Hebrew expression "Ovdim" meaning "those
who are lost" and applied to the Ten Tribes e.g.
AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS IN THAT DAY, THAT THE GREAT TRUMPET SHALL BE
BLOWN, AND THEY SHALL COME WHICH WERE READY TO PERISH (Hebrew: "Ovdim" also
translatable as "they who were lost") IN THE LAND OF ASSYRIA (i.e. Lost
Ten Tribes), AND THE OUTCASTS IN THE LAND OF EGYPT, AND SHALL WORSHIP THE
LORD IN THE HOLY MOUNT AT JERUSALEM [Isaiah 27:13].
[Hosea 7:8] EPHRAIM, HE HATH MIXED HIMSELF AMONG THE PEOPLE[S] (Hebrew:

Even Ezekiel 37 and other passages that speak of future re-unification ALL
presuppose a division until then.
We know who Judah is. The present-day Jews are referred to as "Judah"
throughout Scripture. The question remains who is Ephraim?
The Jews were exiled to Babylon and returned (in part) under Ezra and
Nehemiah . Exra lists the people who returned with him and which tribes
they belonged to. He mentions Judah, Benjamin, and Levi. He does not
mention anyone from the northern Ten Tribes!

It is true that the reunification and conscious reconciliation is
prophesied to take place in the Land of Israel.
This has not yet happened. Until it does most descendants of the Ten Tribes
are to be found in areas of Western Europe, North America,
Australia, and related areas.
6. Biblical Proofs no.9: Rule over peoples
Jacob re-named Israel) was blessed by Isaac:
[Genesis 27:29] LET PEOPLE SERVE THEE, AND NATIONS BOW DOWN TO THEE: BE
LORD OVER THY BRETHREN, AND LET THY MOTHER'S SONS BOW DOWN TO THEE: CURSED
BE EVERY ONE THAT CURSETH THEE, AND BLESSED BE HE THAT BLESSETH THEE.
<<LET PEOPLE SERVE THEE, AND NATIONS BOW DOWN TO THEE>>: Nations would bow
down to them.
Ephraim was also blessed:
[Genesis 48:19] AND HIS FATHER REFUSED, AND SAID, I KNOW IT, MY SON, I KNOW
IT: HE ALSO SHALL BECOME A PEOPLE, AND HE ALSO SHALL BE GREAT: BUT TRULY

<<HIS SEED SHALL BECOME A MULTITUDE OF NATIONS>>: In Hebrew "malo hagoim"
or "literally the fullness of nations". Onkelos translates this
as saying that his seed will rule over the nations.
Ephraim was to become a ruler of other peoples!
The expression could also be understood to mean that other nations will be
dependent upon him for their very existence.
The Lost Ten Tribes headed by Ephraim were to rule over other peoples. This
is one of their signs of identification. There are related concepts to this
that also imply rulership over other peoples but which will be dealt with
separately. Some of these related concepts include possessing the gates
(strategic points) of his enemies, being like an irresistible lion in the
flock, being the major world power at the end of time and in the period
leading up to it, historically possessing Egypt and India and causing
slaves from Africa to cross over to you in chains where they were to become
attached to you, and so on. Regarding ruling over other nations in general,
