1. The Civil War: Manasseh versus Ephraim?

Mr. Collins opinion on the USA being Manasseh may be correct. The first
battle of the American civil war was the Battle of Manassas in 1861.
The Southern forces did not have the wherewithal to follow up and take
Washington, D.C. which foretold the eventual outcome of the war. There
was a second battle of Manassas in 1862 both battles may be referred to as
the battles of Bull Run.
Just a thought.

item 7.The Identity of Menasseh with the USA
We have identified the USA with Menasseh due to the fact that:
[1. Groups identified with Menasseh in Britain (and maybe also in
Holland and Germany at that time) dominated the immigrants to the USA at
an
early stage of its formation.
[2. The USA has aspects of Menasseh including an emphasis on
responsible
representative government.
[3. The name America is a Latinized version of the Hebrew “Ha-Machiri”.
Machir was the firstborn son of Menasseh. “Machir” in Hebrew can also
denote the principle of Capitalism.
Together with this the USA also contains a large contingent from
Ephraim as
well as many non-Israelites. In Biblical times the territory of
Menasseh
also held a segment from Ephraim, groups from other Israelite Tribes
and
numerous non-Israelites. It appears that in the south of the USA the
dominant element was Ephraim. The American Civil War may be seen as
Menasseh asserting himself over Ephraim. Brit-Am representative in
South
Carolina, Mark Mosley, pointed out that the first battle of the Civil
War
was at Menasses, i.e. at a place named after Menasseh! Yehonatan David
White saw the Civil War as a kind of replay (or “rectification”?) of
the
original split between Judah and Israel. In the first split the Tribes
of
Benjamin and Judah had been in the south under the House of David
whereas
the Tribes in the north split away. In the American Civil War the south
was
led by Jefferson Davis (of the House of David? Davis is short for
David’s
son) and by a man of Jewish birth named Judah Philip Benjamin Secretary
of
State of the Confederate Sates of America (1862-1865), later queen’s
counsel in England. The South was more aristocratic and Ephraim was
associated with aristocracy many of whom already in Biblical times had
intermarried with the House of David.

Shalom Yair: Excellent piece on Manassas. It is interesting to note
that
the North [Yankees], called the first battle "Bull Run". It was named
after
a creek that was in the vicinity of Manassas. The symbol of Ephraim is
a
bull. The South [Confederates], called the battle "Manassas" after the
nearby town. One wonders why the South who was made up of Ephraim would
call the battle "Manassas" and the North who was made up of Manasseh,
would
call the battle "Bull Run". There is a juxtaposition here and perhaps
an
unwitting acknowledgement of the two tribes by both the North and the

In the first division [in Biblical Times] the northern tribes led by
Ephraim split away from Judah and Benjamin under the House of David. In
the
second case [a segment from Manasseh that included many from] Ephraim
under
[JDavis with Judah Benjamin attempted to split away [from the rest of
Manasseh] but were prevented from doing so by a man named after Abraham
the
first Patriarch of the Hebrew nation. We have identified Britain as
dominated by Ephraim and in the American Civil War Britain did back the
Confederate side and considered intervening militarily on behalf of the
Confederates.

With regards to the Spartans being part of Edom. Given the autocratic
nature of their society and their love of homosexuality, I suspected
that
this was the case. As I recall I read in one of your books that Eliphaz
son
of Esau migrated to Greece. The descent of Esau ends this week's
Parashah.
The Native Americans had a legend of a bearded white man who set up
their
culture. They worshiped a serpentine god, they had vestal virgins and
practiced human sacrifice, Have you ever read Hislop's Two Babylons?

Answer:
Josephus (Antiquities of the Jews", Book 13, chapter 1, s.8) recalls
the incident and uses the terms interchangeably:
<<they came to Sparta, and delivered the epistle which they had
received of
Jonathan to them; a copy of which here follows: "Jonathan the high
priest
of the Jewish nation, and the senate, and body of the people of the
Jews,
to the ephori, and senate, and people of the Lacedemonians, send
greeting.
...when in former times an epistle was brought to Onias, who was then
our
high priest, from Areus, who at that time was your king, by Demoteles,
concerning the kindred that was between us and you...So the
Lacedemonians
received the ambassadors kindly, and made a decree for friendship and
mutual assistance, and sent it to them.>.
In actuality the Spartans had ruled cruelly and barbarically over the
region of Lacedemonia in Greece
but eventually they appear to have merged with their subject peoples.
Antiquities of the Jews, bk 12 chapter 4 sec 10; XIII, 5, 8:
"When in former times an epistle was brought to Onias, who was then our
high priest . . . we have discovered that both the Jews and the
Lacedemonians are of ONE STOCK, and are derived from the KINDRED OF
ABRAHAM...concerning the KINDRED THAT WAS BETWEEN US AND YOU, a copy of
which is here subjoined, we both joyfully received the epistle . . .
because we were well satisfied about it from the SACRED WRITINGS, yet
did
not we think fit, first to begin the claim of this RELATION TO YOU, the

14 Whence it comes that these Lacedemonians declare themselves here to
be
of kin to the Jews, as derived from the same ancestor, Abraham, I
cannot
tell, unless, as Grotius supposes, they were derived from Dores, that
came
of the Pelasgi. These are by Herodotus called barbarians, and perhaps
were
derived from the Syrians and Arabians, the posterity of Abraham by
Keturah.

6. New rabbinical Work on Israelite Tribes
Fishel Mael ("Sefer Shivtei Israel" ,5757) published a book in
Hebrew
that
concentrated on Rabbinical sources. We wrote a review of this work
in our magazine "Brit-Am Truth" no.7. The book was especially important
since it furnished
us with additional proof identifying the USA with Manasseh.
Now, a new book with a similar title (but by another author) has been
published in English.
"The Shevatim. The blessings and history of the Tribes of Israel as
they
appear in the Torah",
by Rabbi Moshe Polter Targum/Feldheim, USA 2004 ca 270 pages.
We have not yet gone through this work but it looks promising.
A review and report on the book will be published (God willing) in the
coming issue
of "Brit-Am Truth".
7. A Living Tree? More Commentary on the sticks of Ezekiel 37:
We explained "Brit-Am Now"-483 item 3. Ezekiel 37: Tree or Stick?:
Strictly speaking "etz" means tree and there are other words that mean
stick or branches but "etz" can also mean "wood" or "piece of wood" in
general
and thus be used for a stick or branch. The Hebrew language can be very
precise but in this case it is open to a wide variety of
interpretations.
The Prophet however was told to take an "etz" in each hand and this
logically most likely means a piece of wood or stick.
[Ezekiel 37:16] MOREOVER, THOU SON OF MAN, TAKE THEE ONE STICK, AND
WRITE
UPON IT, FOR JUDAH, AND FOR THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL HIS COMPANIONS: THEN
TAKE ANOTHER STICK, AND WRITE UPON IT, FOR JOSEPH, THE STICK OF EPHRAIM
AND
FOR ALL THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL HIS COMPANIONS:
[Ezekiel 37:17] AND JOIN THEM ONE TO ANOTHER INTO ONE STICK; AND THEY
SHALL BECOME ONE IN THINE HAND.
[Ezekiel 37:18] AND WHEN THE CHILDREN OF THY PEOPLE SHALL SPEAK UNTO
THEE, SAYING, WILT THOU NOT SHEW US WHAT THOU MEANEST BY

<<The deed was simple and clear. The Prophet took two pieces of wood,
wrote
upon them the names of the Tribes, joined them together and they became
one
in his hand. However the details of the action, the nature of the
pieces of
wood and how the two united, have been explained by the Commentators in
different ways:
a. It may be that the prophet took two wooden boards and joined them
together with glue and nails (Targum Yehonatan).
b. The language of Scripture says, "AND THEY SHALL BECOME ONE IN THINE
HAND" [Ezekiel 37:17]. The Prophet only draws them close to each other
and
they joined together inn his hand on their own in a miraculous
manner.
c. Simple boards of wood do not come into consideration but rather two
living trees (Rashi, Radak). The joining of the wood does not mean
laying
two pieces beside each other but actual engrafting so that the two
trees
intermerge with each other as one living blossoming tree with a
combination
of characteristics.
d. A combination of the two explanations would present the case thus:
The
Prophet took two dry sticks, joined them together and they intermingled
by
miracle to become one blossoming flowering tree.
e. It is possible to go one step ahead and say that simple sticks are
not
being spoken of but rather staffs that represent the two tribes [Judah
and
Joseph] and express their strength and rulership…At present the People
of
Israel need…the separate staffs to be joined together into one
blossoming
tree.

as long as necessary.
