1. THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND THE HOUSE OF JUDAH" by Bruce McKerras

  THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND THE HOUSE OF JUDAH

      Still separated ' to be rejoined in the future.

   It's an unfortunate fact that most people ' Christian and secular, believe that the Jews in the land of Israel and abroad have already rejoined with the 10 lost tribes - OR the 10 tribes are lost permanently, absorbed into the nations.

Certainly, at the time of the Assyrian conquest and captivity of the 10 tribes, many escaped to Judah. These people practiced Judaism and became Jews.  Note that 200,000 people from Judah were also taken at that time according to Assyrian records.

Also note that some modern Jewish scholars admit that the 10 tribes are still in the world.  In 1948, David Ben Gurion, was intending to declare the country of the Jews, to be the State of Judah.  At the last moment he named the new country 'Israel'.

Speculation as to the identity of the House of Israel has used up many tons of paper and ink, but most make the mistake of thinking that because some people groups have certain Jewish traditions, then they must be a lost tribe.  It may be that they are Jews, or have been influenced by Judaism.

The Bible says that Israel will lose its language and identity and be scattered to the ends of the earth. But Judah will be an object of derision and horror in the world.   Jer. 29v18
1Kings 12v24  The Lord says- the split between Israel and Judah is My doing.
Zech.11v14  Brotherhood annulled between Israel and Judah.
2 Chron. 10v19 From that day to this, Israel is in rebellion against Judah.
2 Sam. 7v10  I shall assign a place for My people , Israel
Eze. 11  Ezekiel is talking to the leaders if Judah, delivering judgement on them for not keeping the laws of the Lord.
'        Verse 13 - all the Israelites who are left'
'        v.15 They are your brothers and kinsmen, this whole people of Israel, to whom the inhabitants now in Jerusalem have said, 'They are separated far from the Lord; the land has been made over to us to possess'
'        v16  Say, therefore.... When I sent them far away among the nations and dispersed them over the earth... I became their sanctuary....
'        v17  Say, therefore..... I shall gather you from among the nations..... I shall give the land of Israel to you.
Zeph.10v6  Triumph to Judah, Victory to Joseph... as though I had never cast them off
'        v7  Ephraim like warriors.... rejoice in the Lord.
'        v8  I shall whistle to call them in.
'        v9  In far off lands, they will remember Me
'        v10,11,12  Enemies destroyed.... resettled back in Lebanon and Gilead.

It is no wonder that so many ignore prophecy, as when they think that Israel and Judah are a single entity, only confusion results.

So, the prophecies to Judah, Jerusalem and the Jews pertain to the House of Judah.
The House of Israel, led by Ephraim (Joseph), also called by several other names in the Bible, has many prophecies telling of their blessings and final rejoining with Judah in the land.  Each House has tasks appointed to it for the present days.

Isaiah 29 v 22   This is no time for Jacob (all Israel) to be shamed
                v 23   His descendants will hallow My name.... regard Israel's God with awe.
                v24   The confused will gain understanding and the obstinate accept instruction.

Ecclesiastes [The Preacher] 3
A Time and Place for Everything

Ecclesiastes 3

 1 To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:

 2 A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;

3 A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;

 4 A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;

 5 A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
 A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;

6 A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;

7 A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;

8 A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.

 9 What profit has the worker from that in which he labors?

 10 I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied.

11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

 12 I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives,

13 and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God.

  14 I know that whatever God does, It shall be forever.  Nothing can be added to it,  And nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.

15 That which is has already been, And what is to be has already been; And God requires an account of what is past.

 16 Moreover I saw under the sun:  In the place of judgment,  Wickedness was there;  And in the place of righteousness, Iniquity was there.

 17 I said in my heart,  'God shall judge the righteous and the wicked,
 For there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.'

 18 I said in my heart, 'Concerning the condition of the sons of men, God tests them, that they may see that they themselves are like animals.'

19 For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity.

20 All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust.

21 Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth?

22 So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?
