2. Query on First Appearance of the Scythians
Monte Lowell Benson asked:
"Isn't it true that the Scythians first appeared in history to the north of where the Ten Tribes were placed in Assyria?"

Brit-Am Reply:
The Scythians first appear in Assyrian Reports as a semi-distinct group amongst the Cimmerians.
They were then in the region of what is now Azerbaijan. This was not "north of  where the Ten Tribes were placed in Assyria".
It was rather the very same place or rather one of the four places mentioned in 2-Kings 17.

[2 Kings 17:6] In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria and carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah and by the Habor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

In  "The Tribes" Chapter Four this matter is dealt with at length.
Supported by identifications made by the Talmud that are confirmed by other sources we equated:
Halah with Holwan (also called Holman) east of the Tigris River. This is the region  where the Scythians first appeared from.
Habor is nearby Adiabene, also a Scythian center.
The River Gozan is the River Ouzen (pronounced as Gouzen) in Azerbaijan though some claim that it is the area of Gozan and the Chabor Riber further to the west. Both areas were places of exile.
"The cities of the Medes" are the areas around northern Ecbatana which at first was populated by Scythians and only later by Medes.

There is also "Hara" (1-Chronicles 5:26) which many identify with an area near the above regions but we equated it with the area of present-day Herut on the border of Iran and Afghanistan.

Anyway, both the Cimmerians and Scythians (who at first were part of the Cimmerians) first appeared in all those areas to which the Ten Tribes had been exiled. The main body of the Cimmerians left at an early date but the areas in question remained Scythian centers for more than a 100 years. After that the Scythian center of gravity began to move to the north though their presence in the initial regions remained significant for some time later.
These statements are based on Assyrian and Babylonian inscriptions and archaeological findings.
The writings of Greek historians in some cases suggest the north as a place of origin and movement back to the north at an earlier date.
The Greek sources date from after 400 BCE whereas the Assyrians were contemporaries and wrote at the time the events took place ca. 300 years earlier.
In Greek times most (but not yet all) of the Scythians had moved Northwards into the region of southern Russia and the steppe lands.
The Cimmerians had already moved out some tot he east (and later back again) and others to the north and west.
The Greeks based on the situation in their own time assumed that the steppe area of southern Russia etc was the Scythian homeland and that their later presence in the Middle East was due to invasion.
Archaeological evidence and Assyrian reports suggest otherwise.
The Assyrians had had hands-on involvement with the issue whereas the Greeks did not.
Nevertheless modern scholars try and reconcile Greek accounts with the other findings by conflating all the sources.
They assume that the Cimmerians and Scythians had originally been the north, a portion came southwards in Assyrian times, and then moved northward again.

Since we believe that the Israelite exiles federated with the non-Israelite Cimmerians and Scythians and that not all Cimmerians and Scythians were Israelites then it does not make that much difference from our own point of view.

For a nice set of maps pinpointing the position of Ecbatana (i.e. Hamadan one of the Cities of the Medes in which Israelites were settled)

It should be mentioned however that Rawlinson believed that Ecbatana referred to two different places one of which was further to the north.

3. New Subscriber from Ireland.

Thank you for your email. I look forward to studying and learning much more on the lost Tribes, as I live in Ireland, and have a keen interest in the Tuatha De Danann, or Danoi as we somethimes call them.

Best regards,
Denis

4. New Article. THE 'DRY BONE' AND 'TWO STICKS' PROPHECIES.
Part Four of
The WARS of
GOG and MAGOG by Alexander Zephyr.
http://www.britam.org/4gogzephyr.html#4Part
Extracts:
This is not a separate and distinct prophecy of real physical resurrection which supposedly  occurs after a thousand years of the Messianic Age. The 'open graves' events, the restoration of the most hopeless sinners of the whole house of Israel, must happen prior to the Messianic Age and the wars of Gog and Magog. The Spiritual death of the children of Israel will not last for ever. No matter how harsh, hopeless and seemingly endless exile was, no matter how much the bones may be dried out, the spirit of God has the power to restore the hope and faith of His people and ultimately redeem them. Through the prophet Ezekiel, God's spirit will awaken the Tribes of Israel to acknowledge their God and their Divine Destiny in the World to come. ...
'Who hath heard such a thing' Who hath seen such a things' Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day' Or shall a nation be born at once' For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children' (Isaiah 66:8).
Rabbi Yehudah in the Sanhedrin 92b confirmed exactly what we are saying. In his opinion, the entire episode of the 'dry bones' is a parable, a metaphor. Ezekiel did not mean actual physical resurrection (as, for instance, Isaiah 26:19; 66:14; Daniel 12:2; or Hosea13:14).

Future Chapter headings in this Ongoing Series:
WHEN WILL THE WARS OF GOG AND MAGOG  BEGIN EXACTLY?
BEFORE THE REUNIFICATION OF ISRAEL AND COMING OF THE MESSIAH OR AFTER IT?

  THE TARGET OF GOG'S ATTACK.

  THE MOUNTAINS OF ISRAEL.

THE WARS OF GOG AND MAGOG WAR AND STAGES OF REDEMPTION.

5. New Brit-Am Book in Preparation. Hosea
We are preparing a new book.
This work is to be dedicated to the Book of Hosea most of which is directed towards the Ten Tribes or strongly concerns them.
The Brit-Am Commentary to Hosea is being used as an initial basis for the work but a great deal of new material is being added and the whole re-written.
Our impression is that the work has importance and may enable something of break-through in several spheres.
We cannot say when the book will be ready but so far reasonable progress is being made.
