Chapters with Brit-Am Commentary

Summary of Individual Chapters:
Chapter 41: The Islands will be called upon to return to the truth (41:1). God will raise up his righteous representative to overcome his enemies (41:2-3). God is the beginning and end and knows all that will be (41:4). Israel is the servant of God (41:8) and the servant-people from the ends of the earth. Israel in the last Days will be in the geographical extremities of the earth, e.g. America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Scandinavia, Netherlands, etc. Israel will be at the ends of the earth and in the best places thereof (41:9). God will help Jacob and Israel meaning the Ten Tribes and Judah (Isaiah 41:14). All of the Israelites will return to the Land of Greater Israel and re-possess most of the Middle East, much of which is now desert. Miracles will happen. There will be climatic changes (41:18).

Chapter 42: Israel who are in the Isles will return to His Law (Isaiah 42:4). God has called Israel in righteousness to become a Brit-Am (Covenant of the People) and a Light to the Nations (42:6). They were to reveal the truth and release the imprisoned (42:7). God is the Almighty and will not give HIS glory to another (42:8). Prophecy reveals what will come about (42:9). They who are sea goers and live in the Isles at the ends of the earth are called upon to praise God with a new song (42:10). This message is also applied to "Kedar" (42:11) which we have said in some contexts refers to North America, see our publication "Ephraim". At all events the emphasis is on the Islands (42:12). God will bring His people back both in the physical sense and in the spiritual one (42:14-19). The Troubles of Jacob and Israel (Joseph and Judah) will have been the result of transgression (42:20-25).

Chapter 43: Jacob and Israel (The Ten Tribes and Judah) will be redeemed (43:1). God will be with us no matter what happens (43:2). Egypt will be given over for Israel to redeem itself. Cush (India, Africa) and Seba will be ours (43:3). Peoples will be subjected under Israel and God will bring Israel back from the east and from the west (43:3-4). Israel and Judah will return from the north and south, from afar, and from the corners of the earth (43:6). Every member of Israel has been called by God by HIS name (43:7). Israel and Judah are the witnesses of God in this world (43:10). The Casdim (Chaldeans) oppressed us and came against us in their ships because God wanted it so (43:14). The final return of Israel will be accompanied by miracles that according to the simple meaning of certain verses will be comparable to those of the original Exodus from Egypt (43:16-21). Israel has not called out to God (43:22) nor offered sacrifices but has sinned (43:23-24). God will forgive us (43:25). Literally God is almost pleading with us to return to Him for both His sake and our own (Isaiah 43:26).

Chapter 44: Jacob and Israel must hear God (44:1). Jacob is HIS servant and Jeshurun (Yeshurun) HIS chosen one (44:2). In the End Times many of the descendants of Israel will be Divinely Inspired (44:3). The Israelites will return. Some will express their return more in the religious sense while others will identify with Judah. They will openly acknowledge their Israelite descent (44:3). There is Only One God and HE is Everything (44:6). The People of Israel will bear witness as to the existence of God (44:8). The Muslims and heathen will be ashamed of the idolatrous past and Israel should look at their uselessness and not go in their pagan ways (44:9-20). Israel is the servant-people of God. He has not forgotten us (44:21). Creation will see that God has redeemed Jacob and glorified Himself in Israel (44:23). God is true. The Bible is true. The wise academics who deny this are fools (44:25). God will have mercy on Judah who is HIS servant. Jerusalem and the cities of Judah will be restored (44:26). Cyrus is the shepherd of the Almighty and shall enable the Temple to be rebuilt (44:28). We have explained that "Cyrus" meant both the Persian Emperor of that name who released the Jews from Babylon and ALSO a future leader of the Ten Tribes, a Messiah son of Joseph, leader of the Ten Tribes.

Chapter 45: God calls to his "annointed" Cyrus (45:1) [see the Brit-Am Commentary in full. This verse is not addressed primarily to Cyrus but to the Ten Tribes in Exile.]. God will prepare the way before him and give him the treasures of darkness and riches of secret places (45:2-3). Jacob is the servant of God. He is called "Jacob" (Yank, Union Jack, Jock) even though he is not aware of its meaning (45:4). The God of Israel looked after Jacob even though Jacob did not know him (45:5). He shall rebuilt the city and release the Captives who belong to the Almighty (45:13). Produce reaching Mitsrayim (Egypt), tall men of Saba in Africa shall submit to the Chosen and belong to them. They will acknowledge that God is with the Chosen (45:14). An identifying sign of Israel in Exile was that they should rule Egypt, most of Africa, and India as the British did (45:1-4,14). So too in the future Joseph will be instrumental in the Restoration of Judah (45:13). That which comes to Egypt [via the Suez Canal], the trade of India [Cush], and of the Sabeans [of Black Africa], shall come over [the sea] unto you. They will be yours, in chains they will come unto you. This was fulfilled by the British and Americans and the trans-Atlantic Slave Trade (45:14). The British Navy eventually everybody forced everybody to stop this trade. The God of Israel hides Himself (45:15 See our commentary and the book "Ephraim" for more details on these matters). They who make idols shall be ashamed but Israel will be saved (45:16-17). Israel is called to come out of the nations, not worship the wood of an idol nor pray to a god that cannot save (45:20). True Prophecy is to be found only in the Israelite Bible besides whom there can be none other (45:21). God is calling to Israel to return and worship HIM (45:22). God hides HIMSELF amongst His people including the Lost Tribes of Israel (45:15). God has not made Himself unavailable to the seed of Jacob, just the opposite (45:19). They who are escaped from among the nations are to assemble together and reject their idolatrous beliefs (45:20). God is calling to Israel to return and worship HIM (45:22). By returning to God all the Seed of Israel shall be justified and find glory (45:25).

Samuel 41 to 45
Chapter 41
[Isaiah 41:1] KEEP SILENCE BEFORE ME, O ISLANDS; AND LET THE PEOPLE RENEW THEIR STRENGTH: LET THEM  COME NEAR; THEN LET THEM SPEAK: LET US COME NEAR TOGETHER TO JUDGMENT.                
" O ISLANDS" quite often connected to the Lost Tribes.  The Malbim says they are being called to return to the truth.  In Hebrew "Island" is "ey" .  Some say that as well as island this word can also denote a coastal area.  I only saw one real example and even that was uncertain.

 [Isaiah 41:2] WHO RAISED UP THE RIGHTEOUS MAN FROM THE EAST, CALLED HIM TO HIS FOOT, GAVE THE  NATIONS BEFORE HIM, AND MADE HIM RULE OVER KINGS? HE GAVE THEM AS THE DUST TO HIS SWORD, AND  AS DRIVEN STUBBLE TO HIS BOW.
"RIGHTEOUS MAN FROM THE EAST": The future Messiah son of David from Judah. Others said it referred to our forefather Abraham or to Cyrus the ruler of Persia and deliverer of the Jews.

 [Isaiah 41:3] HE PURSUED THEM, AND PASSED SAFELY; EVEN BY THE WAY THAT HE HAD NOT GONE WITH HIS FEET.
He pursues his enemies by a way his feet had not touched or do not touch. By airplanes?

 [Isaiah 41:4] WHO HATH WROUGHT AND DONE IT, CALLING THE GENERATIONS FROM THE BEGINNING? I THE LORD, THE FIRST, AND WITH THE LAST; I AM HE.
God foretells the future. The future is hidden in the Bible. The Bible is worth reading. Even if we do not understand all of it consciously on a higher level it reveals to us things that will later become apparent to us. God is first and last.

 [Isaiah 41:5] THE ISLES SAW IT, AND FEARED; THE ENDS OF THE EARTH WERE AFRAID, DREW NEAR, AND CAME.

 [Isaiah 41:6] THEY HELPED EVERY ONE HIS NEIGHBOUR; AND EVERY ONE SAID TO HIS BROTHER, BE OF GOOD COURAGE.
They are all coming to fight against the Messiah. We can see signs of this at present where most nations of the world frequently gang up to condemn Israel for defending its very existence.

 [Isaiah 41:7] SO THE CARPENTER ENCOURAGED THE GOLDSMITH, AND HE THAT SMOOTHETH WITH THE HAMMER HIM THAT SMOTE THE ANVIL, SAYING, IT IS READY FOR THE SODERING: AND HE FASTENED IT WITH NAILS, THAT IT SHOULD NOT BE MOVED.

[Isaiah 41:8] BUT THOU, ISRAEL, ART MY SERVANT, JACOB WHOM I HAVE CHOSEN, THE SEED OF ABRAHAM MY FRIEND.
"ISRAEL, ART MY SERVANT" a key expression. Israel is the servant of God. Israel is being spoken of and all the Prophecy is concerned with Israel.

 [Isaiah 41:9] THOU WHOM I HAVE TAKEN FROM THE ENDS OF THE EARTH, AND CALLED THEE FROM THE CHIEF MEN THEREOF, AND SAID UNTO THEE, THOU ART MY SERVANT; I HAVE CHOSEN THEE, AND NOT CAST THEE AWAY.
"THE ENDS OF THE EARTH": i.e. Israel in the last Days will be in the geographical extremities of the  earth, e.g. America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Scandinavia, Netherlands, etc.
"THE CHIEF MEN THEREOF": In Hebrew "Atziliah" which can also mean "the best places thereof".
I once saw a book that discussed parchments made out of animal skins. The best cowhides (it said) come from North America due to the climate and environment of that area.
"THOU ART MY SERVANT": Israel is the servant of God.

 [Isaiah 41:10] FEAR THOU NOT; FOR I AM WITH THEE: BE NOT DISMAYED; FOR I AM THY GOD: I WILL STRENGTHEN THEE; YEA, I WILL HELP THEE; YEA, I WILL UPHOLD THEE WITH THE RIGHT HAND OF MY RIGHTEOUSNESS.

 [Isaiah 41:11] BEHOLD, ALL THEY THAT WERE INCENSED AGAINST THEE SHALL BE ASHAMED AND CONFOUNDED: THEY SHALL BE AS NOTHING; AND THEY THAT STRIVE WITH THEE SHALL PERISH.

 [Isaiah 41:12] THOU SHALT SEEK THEM, AND SHALT NOT FIND THEM, EVEN THEM THAT CONTENDED WITH THEE: THEY THAT WAR AGAINST THEE SHALL BE AS NOTHING, AND AS A THING OF NOUGHT.                     

 [Isaiah 41:13] FOR I THE LORD THY GOD WILL HOLD THY RIGHT HAND, SAYING UNTO THEE, FEAR NOT; I WILL  HELP THEE.                  

 [Isaiah 41:14] FEAR NOT, THOU WORM JACOB, AND YE MEN OF ISRAEL; I WILL HELP THEE, SAITH THE LORD, AND THY REDEEMER, THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL.
When Jacob and Israel are mentioned together, one refers to Judah the other to the Lost Tribes.  Which of the two is which appears to be a subject of debate amongst the Commentators.

 [Isaiah 41:15] BEHOLD, I WILL MAKE THEE A NEW SHARP THRESHING INSTRUMENT HAVING TEETH: THOU SHALT THRESH THE MOUNTAINS, AND BEAT THEM SMALL, AND SHALT MAKE THE HILLS AS CHAFF.         
"MOUNTAINS" = other nations.

 [Isaiah 41:16] THOU SHALT FAN THEM, AND THE WIND SHALL CARRY THEM AWAY, AND THE WHIRLWIND SHALL SCATTER THEM: AND THOU SHALT REJOICE IN THE LORD, AND SHALT GLORY IN THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL.
Enemies from all over the world will come against Israel and be driven away.

 [Isaiah 41:17] WHEN THE POOR AND NEEDY SEEK WATER, AND THERE IS NONE, AND THEIR TONGUE FAILETH FOR THIRST, I THE LORD WILL HEAR THEM, I THE GOD OF ISRAEL WILL NOT FORSAKE THEM.                
There are indications that in the Last Days a new Exodus will take place and miracles will occur just like in the previous one.  These verses can also be applied to the migrations of the Lost Ten Tribes from place to place in the course of history.  God will not forsake His people.

 [Isaiah 41:18] I WILL OPEN RIVERS IN HIGH PLACES, AND FOUNTAINS IN THE MIDST OF THE VALLEYS: I WILL MAKE THE WILDERNESS A POOL OF WATER, AND THE DRY LAND SPRINGS OF WATER.
When all of the Israelites return to the Land of Greater Israel and re-possess most of the Middle East much of which is now desert miracles will happen. There will be climatic changes. What is now desert was once in part fertile cultivated land. In the future it will return to be watered and cultivated.

 [Isaiah 41:19] I WILL PLANT IN THE WILDERNESS THE CEDAR, THE SHITTAH TREE, AND THE MYRTLE, AND THE OIL TREE; I WILL SET IN THE DESERT THE FIR TREE, AND THE PINE, AND THE BOX TREE TOGETHER:

 [Isaiah 41:20] THAT THEY MAY SEE, AND KNOW, AND CONSIDER, AND UNDERSTAND TOGETHER, THAT THE HAND OF THE LORD HATH DONE THIS, AND THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL HATH CREATED IT.

 [Isaiah 41:21] PRODUCE YOUR CAUSE, SAITH THE LORD; BRING FORTH YOUR STRONG REASONS, SAITH THE KING OF JACOB.              

 [Isaiah 41:22] LET THEM BRING THEM FORTH, AND SHEW US WHAT SHALL HAPPEN: LET THEM SHEW THE FORMER THINGS, WHAT THEY BE, THAT WE MAY CONSIDER THEM, AND KNOW THE LATTER END OF THEM; OR DECLARE US THINGS FOR TO COME.

 [Isaiah 41:23] SHEW THE THINGS THAT ARE TO COME HEREAFTER, THAT WE MAY KNOW THAT YE ARE GODS: YEA, DO GOOD, OR DO EVIL, THAT WE MAY BE DISMAYED, AND BEHOLD IT TOGETHER.          
Let the idolaters prove themselves. Let them try and predict the future.

 [Isaiah 41:24] BEHOLD, YE ARE OF NOTHING, AND YOUR WORK OF NOUGHT: AN ABOMINATION IS HE THAT CHOOSETH YOU.      

 [Isaiah 41:25] I HAVE RAISED UP ONE FROM THE NORTH, AND HE SHALL COME: FROM THE RISING OF THE SUN  SHALL HE CALL UPON MY NAME: AND HE SHALL COME UPON PRINCES AS UPON MORTER, AND AS THE POTTER  TREADETH CLAY.
A conqueror will come from the North and East. Again this could historicaly refer to Cyrus King of Persia as we will see.

 [Isaiah 41:26] WHO HATH DECLARED FROM THE BEGINNING, THAT WE MAY KNOW? AND BEFORETIME, THAT WE MAY SAY, HE IS RIGHTEOUS? YEA, THERE IS NONE THAT SHEWETH, YEA, THERE IS NONE THAT DECLARETH, YEA, THERE IS NONE THAT HEARETH YOUR WORDS.           

 [Isaiah 41:27] THE FIRST SHALL SAY TO ZION, BEHOLD, BEHOLD THEM: AND I WILL GIVE TO JERUSALEM ONE  THAT BRINGETH GOOD TIDINGS.

 [Isaiah 41:28] FOR I BEHELD, AND THERE WAS NO MAN; EVEN AMONG THEM, AND THERE WAS NO  COUNSELLOR, THAT, WHEN I ASKED OF THEM, COULD ANSWER A WORD.

 [Isaiah 41:29] BEHOLD, THEY ARE ALL VANITY; THEIR WORKS ARE NOTHING: THEIR MOLTEN IMAGES ARE WIND  AND CONFUSION.             
The worshippers of idols bring no benefit but rather arouse negative forces.
 

Chapter 42
[Isaiah 42:1] BEHOLD MY SERVANT, WHOM I UPHOLD; MINE ELECT, IN WHOM MY SOUL DELIGHTETH; I HAVE PUT MY SPIRIT UPON HIM: HE SHALL BRING FORTH JUDGMENT TO THE GENTILES.                  
"BEHOLD MY SERVANT"  remember [Isaiah 41:8] BUT THOU, ISRAEL, ART MY SERVANT: They shall judge and rule over the other nations and instruct them.
Others (such as the Malbim) say that in this case "my servant" refers to the future Messiah. The passage can be understood in both senses.

[Isaiah 42:2] HE SHALL NOT CRY, NOR LIFT UP, NOR CAUSE HIS VOICE TO BE HEARD IN THE STREET.
Cf. "THE WORDS OF WISE MEN ARE HEARD IN QUIET MORE THAN THE CRY OF HIM THAT RULETH AMONG FOOLS" [Eccles. 9:17].


 [Isaiah 42:3] A BRUISED REED SHALL HE NOT BREAK, AND THE SMOKING FLAX SHALL HE NOT QUENCH: HE SHALL BRING FORTH JUDGMENT UNTO TRUTH.
He shall not oppress the downtrodden and broken.  He shall not take unfair advantage of the weak. On the contrary he shall build up and heal.
The Malbim explains a bruised reed to be he who was overcome by physical lusts,  and "smoking flax" he who was misled by his intellect. Mercy will be shown to all and a pathway of understanding will be laid out.

 [Isaiah 42:4] HE SHALL NOT FAIL NOR BE DISCOURAGED, TILL HE HAVE SET JUDGMENT IN THE EARTH: AND THE ISLES SHALL WAIT FOR HIS LAW.
Israel who are in the Isles will return to His Law.

 [Isaiah 42:5] THUS SAITH GOD THE LORD, HE THAT CREATED THE HEAVENS, AND STRETCHED THEM OUT; HE THAT SPREAD FORTH THE EARTH, AND THAT WHICH COMETH OUT OF IT; HE THAT GIVETH BREATH UNTO THE PEOPLE UPON IT, AND SPIRIT TO THEM THAT WALK THEREIN:

 [Isaiah 42:6] I THE LORD HAVE CALLED THEE IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND WILL HOLD THINE HAND, AND WILL KEEP THEE, AND GIVE THEE FOR A COVENANT OF THE PEOPLE, FOR A LIGHT OF THE GENTILES;                   
  "A COVENANT OF THE PEOPLE" in Hebrew "Brit-Am". Israel will be a "Brit-Am". In the Middle Ages the name Britain was sometimes written as "Britammia". The Welsh called themselves, "Bryth y Brithan" , or Briths of Brithan. In  Biblical Hebrew "brith" means "covenant.
The Malbim says that "Brit-Am" means Israel.
This is why we chose the name "Brit-Am" for our organization.  "Brit-Am" represents the Lost Ten Tribes returning. Other reasons were that "Brit-Am" hints at Britain from whom many of those to whom we direct our message originate. Our friend Cecil Davis pointed out that "Brit-Am" can also be understand as a shortened way of saying "Britain and America".
"A LIGHT OF THE GENTILES": On the whole the LTTs have instructed and enlightened other nations. They have served as an example, a light, of fair play and striving for justice. This claim is pertienent despite the numerous exceptions that can be adduced against it. Everything nneds to be considered in the context of time and place and in relation to what was accepted amongst neighboring nations.

 [Isaiah 42:7] TO OPEN THE BLIND EYES, TO BRING OUT THE PRISONERS FROM THE PRISON, AND THEM THAT SIT IN DARKNESS OUT OF THE PRISON HOUSE.
"THE PRISONERS FROM THE PRISON": A large portion of the early settlers of America (one-third according to some estimates?) were released prisoners from Britain. Most of the first colonisers of Australia were prisoners.
The Jews were released by Allied soldiers from German concentration camps and then set up the State of Israel.
Israel on the whole in its exile is blind and imprisoned by circumstance and historical experiences.  This prevents us from going upwards and acting, feeling,  and thinking as we should.

 [Isaiah 42:8] I AM THE LORD: THAT IS MY NAME: AND MY GLORY WILL I NOT GIVE TO ANOTHER, NEITHER MY PRAISE TO GRAVEN IMAGES.        
God does nt allow the respect due to Him to be given to others.

 [Isaiah 42:9] BEHOLD, THE FORMER THINGS ARE COME TO PASS, AND NEW THINGS DO I DECLARE: BEFORE THEY SPRING FORTH I TELL YOU OF THEM.

 [Isaiah 42:10] SING UNTO THE LORD A NEW SONG, AND HIS PRAISE FROM THE END OF THE EARTH, YE THAT GO DOWN TO THE SEA, AND ALL THAT IS THEREIN; THE ISLES, AND THE INHABITANTS THEREOF.              
This could be seen as applied to all the peoples of the earth but applying it to the Lost Tribes of Israel fits just as well if not better according to the context.
End of the earth = most Israelites dwell at the geographical extremities of the earth when Jerusalem is consider the center.
"GO DOWN TO THE SEA": Seagoers.
ISLES = islands and coastland dwellers.

 [Isaiah 42:11] LET THE WILDERNESS AND THE CITIES THEREOF LIFT UP THEIR VOICE, THE VILLAGES THAT KEDAR DOTH INHABIT: LET THE INHABITANTS OF THE ROCK SING, LET THEM SHOUT FROM THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAINS.
"KEDAR:" See the book "Ephraim". Some of the Amerindians were descended from Kedar son of Ishmael. Kedar can be applied to North America.

 [Isaiah 42:12] LET THEM GIVE GLORY UNTO THE LORD, AND DECLARE HIS PRAISE IN THE ISLANDS.
Again "islands"

 [Isaiah 42:13] THE LORD SHALL GO FORTH AS A MIGHTY MAN, HE SHALL STIR UP JEALOUSY LIKE A MAN OF WAR: HE SHALL CRY, YEA, ROAR; HE SHALL PREVAIL AGAINST HIS ENEMIES.
The enemies of Israel are the enemies of God.

 [Isaiah 42:14] I HAVE LONG TIME HOLDEN MY PEACE; I HAVE BEEN STILL, AND REFRAINED MYSELF: NOW WILL I CRY LIKE A TRAVAILING WOMAN; I WILL DESTROY AND DEVOUR AT ONCE.

 [Isaiah 42:15] I WILL MAKE WASTE MOUNTAINS AND HILLS, AND DRY UP ALL THEIR HERBS; AND I WILL MAKE THE RIVERS ISLANDS, AND I WILL DRY UP THE POOLS.

 [Isaiah 42:16] AND I WILL BRING THE BLIND BY A WAY THAT THEY KNEW NOT; I WILL LEAD THEM IN PATHS THAT    THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN: I WILL MAKE DARKNESS LIGHT BEFORE THEM, AND CROOKED THINGS STRAIGHT. THESE THINGS WILL I DO UNTO THEM, AND NOT FORSAKE THEM.
Israel in Exile are as if blinded and in darkness.

 [Isaiah 42:17] THEY SHALL BE TURNED BACK, THEY SHALL BE GREATLY ASHAMED, THAT TRUST IN GRAVEN IMAGES, THAT SAY TO THE MOLTEN IMAGES, YE ARE OUR GODS.
The israelites mustr ceast to worship idols.

 [Isaiah 42:18] HEAR, YE DEAF; AND LOOK, YE BLIND, THAT YE MAY SEE.
"Deaf" are they who do not hearken to Scripture and to the comforting of Prophecy. "Blind" are they who do not see the truth and maybe almost cannot.

 [Isaiah 42:19] WHO IS BLIND, BUT MY SERVANT? OR DEAF, AS MY MESSENGER THAT I SENT? WHO IS BLIND AS HE THAT IS PERFECT, AND BLIND AS THE LORD'S SERVANT?
"PERFECT" in Hebrew "Meshullam". Some say that this is another name for the Messiah. Alternately he who is good in the eyes of God is considered "blind" in the eyes of others (Amos Chacham, "Daat Mikra").

 [Isaiah 42:20] SEEING MANY THINGS, BUT THOU OBSERVEST NOT; OPENING THE EARS, BUT HE HEARETH NOT.

 [Isaiah 42:21] THE LORD IS WELL PLEASED FOR HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS' SAKE; HE WILL MAGNIFY THE LAW, AND MAKE IT HONOURABLE.
Usually understood in Hebrew as meaning: God wanted for the sake of His righteousness and purifying force to magnify the Torah and expnand it. The Torah is an empowerment. God gave us a Torah (Law and Instruction) that is all-encompassing, detailed,  and demanding in order to purify and empower us for the sake of His glory in which we participate.
               
 [Isaiah 42:22] BUT THIS IS A PEOPLE ROBBED AND SPOILED; THEY ARE ALL OF THEM SNARED IN HOLES, AND THEY ARE HID IN PRISON HOUSES: THEY ARE FOR A PREY, AND NONE DELIVERETH; FOR A SPOIL, AND NONE  SAITH, RESTORE.
"A PEOPLE ROBBED": This may happen to all Israel in the Last Days. Judah can also be referred to on occasion in Prophecy under the term "Israel." Judah was robbed and a prey for all throughout all Europe and all the lands of Islam.
In the Last Days Israel will be transformed and become the agency of the Almighty to spread instruction and direction to all.

 [Isaiah 42:23] WHO AMONG YOU WILL GIVE EAR TO THIS? WHO WILL HEARKEN AND HEAR FOR THE TIME TO COME?

 [Isaiah 42:24] WHO GAVE JACOB FOR A SPOIL, AND ISRAEL TO THE ROBBERS? DID NOT THE LORD, HE AGAINST WHOM WE HAVE SINNED? FOR THEY WOULD NOT WALK IN HIS WAYS, NEITHER WERE THEY OBEDIENT UNTO HIS LAW.
All the troubles that have come upon us were due to our disobedience.

 [Isaiah 42:25] THEREFORE HE HATH POURED UPON HIM THE FURY OF HIS ANGER, AND THE STRENGTH OF BATTLE: AND IT HATH SET HIM ON FIRE ROUND ABOUT, YET HE KNEW NOT; AND IT BURNED HIM, YET HE LAID IT NOT TO HEART.

Chapter 43
[Isaiah 43:1] BUT NOW THUS SAITH THE LORD THAT CREATED THEE, O JACOB, AND HE THAT FORMED THEE, O ISRAEL, FEAR NOT: FOR I HAVE REDEEMED THEE, I HAVE CALLED THEE BY THY NAME; THOU ART MINE.
Jacob and Israel when juxtaposed often represent both Judah (the Jews) and Israel (the Ten Tribes): Which of the two is which is not so simple and appears to be controversial. It may sometimes change according to the context. When Judah and Israel are juxtaposed then it is clear that Israel represents the 10 tribes and Judah the Jews. It should therefore follow that when Jacob and Israel are juxtaposed and the two entities are being discussed that Israel be the Ten Tribes and Jacob be Judah. The Malbim however claims the opposite whereas earlier commentaries disagree with him.
We should make a detailed study of this subject.

 [Isaiah 43:2] WHEN THOU PASSEST THROUGH THE WATERS, I WILL BE WITH THEE; AND THROUGH THE RIVERS, THEY SHALL NOT OVERFLOW THEE: WHEN THOU WALKEST THROUGH THE FIRE, THOU SHALT NOT BE BURNED; NEITHER SHALL THE FLAME KINDLE UPON THEE.
Many nations shall come against you like walls of  fire and water (Targum Yehonatan) but shall not overcome you.

 [Isaiah 43:3] FOR I AM THE LORD THY GOD, THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL, THY SAVIOUR: I GAVE EGYPT FOR THY RANSOM, ETHIOPIA AND SEBA FOR THEE.
"ETHIOPIA" in Hebrew "Cush". The term "Cush" could be applied to Ethiopia and the Sudan, to all of Africa, to India, or to Central Asia. Here as will be explained we believe the reference is to India.
"ETHIOPIA AND SEBA FOR THEE" in Hebrew the word translated as  "FOR THEE" is "tachtecha"  literally "underneath you" also implying subjected to you.
"Seba" represents the mighty Negro nations that from Saba in the Sudan branched out at a late date and overran most of Black Africa intermingling with, conquering, and/or replacing the previous dark peoples of the area.
We will see Isaiah predicted that the Lost Tribes would gain possession of India and Egypt and transport slaves from Africa. This is what the British did.

 [Isaiah 43:4] SINCE THOU WAST PRECIOUS IN MY SIGHT, THOU HAST BEEN HONOURABLE, AND I HAVE LOVED  THEE: THEREFORE WILL I GIVE MEN FOR THEE, AND PEOPLE FOR THY LIFE.
We have been very bad and the Prophets frequently tell us why. Even so there is also a good side to our character and looking back we have achieved something. God too recognizes this.

 [Isaiah 43:5] FEAR NOT: FOR I AM WITH THEE: I WILL BRING THY SEED FROM THE EAST, AND GATHER THEE FROM   THE WEST;
from both east and west.

 [Isaiah 43:6] I WILL SAY TO THE NORTH, GIVE UP; AND TO THE SOUTH, KEEP NOT BACK: BRING MY SONS FROM FAR, AND MY DAUGHTERS FROM THE ENDS OF THE EARTH;
north and south.

 [Isaiah 43:7] EVEN EVERY ONE THAT IS CALLED BY MY NAME: FOR I HAVE CREATED HIM FOR MY GLORY, I HAVE FORMED HIM; YEA, I HAVE MADE HIM.

 [Isaiah 43:8] BRING FORTH THE BLIND PEOPLE THAT HAVE EYES, AND THE DEAF THAT HAVE EARS.

 [Isaiah 43:9] LET ALL THE NATIONS BE GATHERED TOGETHER, AND LET THE PEOPLE BE ASSEMBLED: WHO AMONG THEM CAN DECLARE THIS, AND SHEW US FORMER THINGS? LET THEM BRING FORTH THEIR WITNESSES, THAT THEY MAY BE JUSTIFIED: OR LET THEM HEAR, AND SAY, IT IS TRUTH.
God tells us where the Lost Ten Tribes are and what they will do. It is written in the Bible.

 [Isaiah 43:10] YE ARE MY WITNESSES, SAITH THE LORD, AND MY SERVANT WHOM I HAVE CHOSEN: THAT YE MAY KNOW AND BELIEVE ME, AND UNDERSTAND THAT I AM HE: BEFORE ME THERE WAS NO GOD FORMED, NEITHER SHALL THERE BE AFTER ME.
We are witnesses of God.

 [Isaiah 43:11] I, EVEN I, AM THE LORD; AND BESIDE ME THERE IS NO SAVIOUR.

 [Isaiah 43:12] I HAVE DECLARED, AND HAVE SAVED, AND I HAVE SHEWED, WHEN THERE WAS NO STRANGE GOD AMONG YOU: THEREFORE YE ARE MY WITNESSES, SAITH THE LORD, THAT I AM GOD.

 [Isaiah 43:13] YEA, BEFORE THE DAY WAS I AM HE; AND THERE IS NONE THAT CAN DELIVER OUT OF MY HAND: I WILL WORK, AND WHO SHALL LET IT"

 [Isaiah 43:14] THUS SAITH THE LORD, YOUR REDEEMER, THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL; FOR YOUR SAKE I HAVE SENT TO BABYLON, AND HAVE BROUGHT DOWN ALL THEIR NOBLES, AND THE CHALDEANS, WHOSE CRY IS IN THE SHIPS.

 [Isaiah 43:15] I AM THE LORD, YOUR HOLY ONE, THE CREATOR OF ISRAEL, YOUR KING.

 [Isaiah 43:16] THUS SAITH THE LORD, WHICH MAKETH A WAY IN THE SEA, AND A PATH IN THE MIGHTY WATERS;

 [Isaiah 43:17] WHICH BRINGETH FORTH THE CHARIOT AND HORSE, THE ARMY AND THE POWER; THEY SHALL LIE DOWN TOGETHER, THEY SHALL NOT RISE: THEY ARE EXTINCT, THEY ARE QUENCHED AS TOW.
Here he is talkng of the miracle of the parting of the Red Sea.
Some say this will repeated at the Bosporus where a narrow sea strait divides the European part of Turkey from Asia.
Extract from "Ephraim" chapter five in the 2nd edition and chapter six in the first edition.
    The Bosporus Straits were spoken of by Jerome (d. 420 CE). He was the first to translate the Bible into Latin and had consulted with Jewish sages. These scholars reported to Jerome the tradition that Israelites exiled by the Assyrians had reached the Bosporus Straits and passed over them to the north into Europe.
    Jerome says: [on ZECARIAH 10;11: "AND HE SHALL PASS THROUGH THE SEA..." ] "The Hebrews say that the Assyrians and Chaldeans took the Jews into captivity not only to Persia and Media but also to the Bosporus and the north; and at the end of days God in his mercy will call them back from there:" 
    By "Jews" taken into captivity by the Assyrians Jerome is actually referring to Israelites from the northern Ten Tribes. Strictlyspeaking these were not  "Jews" which appellation refers to Judaeans from the southern kingdom dominated by Judah. Jerome was therefore recording the tradition that the Ten Tribes or part of them had reached the Bosporos Traits and from there passed into Europe.
At all events within fifty years of the north Israelites' exile the Bosporus had become a Cimmmerian centre5 and was to remain so for about 150 years. Welsh tradition6 claimed that their ancestors the Cymry (i.e. "Cimmeri") led by Hu Gadarn of the Sons of Don had come across the "Lazy Sea" (i.e. Mediterranean) to Defen in the British isles. He had arrived from Defrobane which was just opposite Byzantium. In other words Defrobane stood on the Asiatic side of the Bosporus in the place where the port of Defen had been. Defrobane may be some kind of linguistic derivation of Daphne. The BritishWelsh who came from DEFROBANE opposite Byzantium called themselves Cymry and the Scandinavian peoples contained an underlying ethnic stratum from the similarlynamed CIMBRI of Celtic culture. In Scandinavian mythology one version (reported by Saxo Grammaticus7) concerning the origins of their ancestral gods said that they too came from the area of Byzantium, and that one of their ancestors ruled over a city in the nearby Hellespont called Dana8!

This is what Zecharia said:

This is the re-union of the LTTs with Judah.

[ZECHARIAH 10:7] AND THEY OF EPHRAIM SHALL BE LIKE A MIGHTY MAN, AND THEIR HEART SHALL REJOICE AS THROUGH WINE: YEA, THEIR CHILDREN SHALL SEE IT, AND BE GLAD; THEIR HEART SHALL REJOICE IN THE LORD.                     

[ZECHARIAH 10:8] I WILL HISS FOR THEM, AND GATHER THEM; FOR I HAVE REDEEMED THEM: AND THEY SHALL INCREASE AS THEY HAVE INCREASED.                     

[ZECHARIAH 10:9] AND I WILL SOW THEM AMONG THE PEOPLE: AND THEY SHALL REMEMBER ME IN FAR COUNTRIES; AND THEY SHALL LIVE WITH THEIR CHILDREN, AND TURN AGAIN.                     

[ZECHARIAH 10:10] I WILL BRING THEM AGAIN ALSO OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT, AND GATHER THEM OUT OF ASSYRIA; AND I WILL BRING THEM INTO THE LAND OF GILEAD AND LEBANON; AND PLACE SHALL NOT BE FOUND FOR THEM.                     

Egypt and Assyria could apply to areas in Europe.
Gilead means Syria and Lebanon means Lebanon. These areas will be re-populated by the LTTs.

[ZECHARIAH 10:11] AND HE SHALL PASS THROUGH THE SEA WITH AFFLICTION, AND SHALL SMITE THE WAVES IN THE SEA, AND ALL THE DEEPS OF THE RIVER SHALL DRY UP: AND THE PRIDE OF ASSYRIA SHALL BE BROUGHT DOWN, AND THE SCEPTRE OF EGYPT SHALL DEPART AWAY.                     

 [Isaiah 43:18] REMEMBER YE NOT THE FORMER THINGS, NEITHER CONSIDER THE THINGS OF OLD.

 [Isaiah 43:19] BEHOLD, I WILL DO A NEW THING; NOW IT SHALL SPRING FORTH; SHALL YE NOT KNOW IT? I WILL EVEN MAKE A WAY IN THE WILDERNESS, AND RIVERS IN THE DESERT.

 [Isaiah 43:20] THE BEAST OF THE FIELD SHALL HONOUR ME, THE DRAGONS AND THE OWLS: BECAUSE I GIVE WATERS IN THE WILDERNESS, AND RIVERS IN THE DESERT, TO GIVE DRINK TO MY PEOPLE, MY CHOSEN.

 [Isaiah 43:21] THIS PEOPLE HAVE I FORMED FOR MYSELF; THEY SHALL SHEW FORTH MY PRAISE.

 [Isaiah 43:22] BUT THOU HAST NOT CALLED UPON ME, O JACOB; BUT THOU HAST BEEN WEARY OF ME, O ISRAEL.

 [Isaiah 43:23] THOU HAST NOT BROUGHT ME THE SMALL CATTLE OF THY BURNT OFFERINGS; NEITHER HAST THOU HONOURED ME WITH THY SACRIFICES. I HAVE NOT CAUSED THEE TO SERVE WITH AN OFFERING, NOR WEARIED THEE WITH INCENSE.

 [Isaiah 43:24] THOU HAST BOUGHT ME NO SWEET CANE WITH MONEY, NEITHER HAST THOU FILLED ME WITH THE FAT OF THY SACRIFICES: BUT THOU HAST MADE ME TO SERVE WITH THY SINS, THOU HAST WEARIED ME WITH THINE INIQUITIES.
We have not rebuilt the Temple even though with a little effort we may have been able to.

 [Isaiah 43:25] I, EVEN I, AM HE THAT BLOTTETH OUT THY TRANSGRESSIONS FOR MINE OWN SAKE, AND WILL NOT REMEMBER THY SINS.
God will forgive us.

 [Isaiah 43:26] PUT ME IN REMEMBRANCE: LET US PLEAD TOGETHER: DECLARE THOU, THAT THOU MAYEST BE JUSTIFIED.

[Isaiah 43:27] THY FIRST FATHER HATH SINNED, AND THY TEACHERS HAVE TRANSGRESSED AGAINST ME.
Not all our ancestors were always as good as they should have been. Perhaps we have a chance to rectify what they corrupted for their sake and for the sake of our children.

 [Isaiah 43:28] THEREFORE I HAVE PROFANED THE PRINCES OF THE SANCTUARY, AND HAVE GIVEN JACOB TO THE CURSE, AND ISRAEL TO REPROACHES.
"PRINCES OF THE SANCTUARY" in Hebrew "Sari Kodesh" which can also be taken to mean religious leaders in general. Our religious shepherds have not lead us correctly. They will be punished yet because of their bad teaching both Jacob and Israel will have to suffer.

Chapter 44
[Isaiah 44:1] YET NOW HEAR, O JACOB MY SERVANT; AND ISRAEL, WHOM I HAVE CHOSEN:

 [Isaiah 44:2] THUS SAITH THE LORD THAT MADE THEE, AND FORMED THEE FROM THE WOMB, WHICH WILL HELP THEE; FEAR NOT, O JACOB, MY SERVANT; AND THOU, JESURUN, WHOM I HAVE CHOSEN.                   
"Jershurun" is another name for Israel. A Phoenician inscription has been discovered mentioned "Tyre and Yeshurun" which shows North Israelite involvement with the Phoenicians whose chief cities were Tyre and Sidon.

 [Isaiah 44:3] FOR I WILL POUR WATER UPON HIM THAT IS THIRSTY, AND FLOODS UPON THE DRY GROUND: I WILL POUR MY SPIRIT UPON THY SEED, AND MY BLESSING UPON THINE OFFSPRING:
Our descendants will be better than us. They will be Divinely Inspired. Somebody has to be, sometime.

 [Isaiah 44:4] AND THEY SHALL SPRING UP AS AMONG THE GRASS, AS WILLOWS BY THE WATER COURSES.

 [Isaiah 44:5] ONE SHALL SAY, I AM THE LORD'S; AND ANOTHER SHALL CALL HIMSELF BY THE NAME OF JACOB; AND ANOTHER SHALL SUBSCRIBE WITH HIS HAND UNTO THE LORD, AND SURNAME HIMSELF BY THE NAME OF ISRAEL.
They will return and reclaim their heritance and acknowledge their Israelite descent.

 [Isaiah 44:6] THUS SAITH THE LORD THE KING OF ISRAEL, AND HIS REDEEMER THE LORD OF HOSTS; I AM THE FIRST, AND I AM THE LAST; AND BESIDE ME THERE IS NO GOD.
Only One God.

 [Isaiah 44:7] AND WHO, AS I, SHALL CALL, AND SHALL DECLARE IT, AND SET IT IN ORDER FOR ME, SINCE I APPOINTED THE ANCIENT PEOPLE" AND THE THINGS THAT ARE COMING, AND SHALL COME, LET THEM SHEW UNTO THEM.

 [Isaiah 44:8] FEAR YE NOT, NEITHER BE AFRAID: HAVE NOT I TOLD THEE FROM THAT TIME, AND HAVE DECLARED IT? YE ARE EVEN MY WITNESSES. IS THERE A GOD BESIDE ME? YEA, THERE IS NO GOD; I KNOW NOT ANY.
The People of Israel will bear witness as to the existence of God.

 [Isaiah 44:9] THEY THAT MAKE A GRAVEN IMAGE ARE ALL OF THEM VANITY; AND THEIR DELECTABLE THINGS SHALL NOT PROFIT; AND THEY ARE THEIR OWN WITNESSES; THEY SEE NOT, NOR KNOW; THAT THEY MAY BE ASHAMED.
The Muslims recreate God in their own image. So do others.  This is a graven image.

 [Isaiah 44:10] WHO HATH FORMED A GOD, OR  MOLTEN A GRAVEN IMAGE THAT IS PROFITABLE FOR NOTHING?

 [Isaiah 44:11] BEHOLD, ALL HIS FELLOWS SHALL BE ASHAMED: AND THE WORKMEN, THEY ARE OF MEN: LET THEM ALL BE GATHERED TOGETHER, LET THEM STAND UP; YET THEY SHALL FEAR, AND THEY SHALL BE ASHAMED TOGETHER.

 [Isaiah 44:12] THE SMITH WITH THE TONGS BOTH WORKETH IN THE COALS, AND FASHIONETH IT WITH HAMMERS,  AND WORKETH IT WITH THE STRENGTH OF HIS ARMS: YEA, HE IS HUNGRY, AND HIS STRENGTH FAILETH: HE DRINKETH NO WATER, AND IS FAINT.               
HE DRINKETH NO WATER, AND IS FAINT: With one does not imbue liquids one will probably tire out quickly. It is very important to drink water. Without enough water especially in heat all kinds of terrible things can happen to a person.  Children especially sometimes forget to drink and become sick when a simple glass of water could have made all the difference. Not only water but all kinds of liquids help though pure water on its own may be best of all. Water is very healthy, good for the complexion, good for the body, and thirst-quenching.
I once did a course in First Aid in the Israeli Army. They said that when soldiers are exerting themselves it is important that they be encouraged to drink since many are not used to exertion and tend to ignore their natural thirst. Therefore sweet drink should be provided. Sugar in itself may be harmful but it does encourage drinking and therefore lessens the risk of dehydration. Sugar also gives a quick energy boost and helps placate those under stress.

 [Isaiah 44:13] THE CARPENTER STRETCHETH OUT HIS RULE; HE MARKETH IT OUT WITH A LINE; HE FITTETH IT WITH PLANES, AND HE MARKETH IT OUT WITH THE COMPASS, AND MAKETH IT AFTER THE FIGURE OF A MAN,  ACCORDING TO THE BEAUTY OF A MAN; THAT IT MAY REMAIN IN THE HOUSE.

 [Isaiah 44:14] HE HEWETH HIM DOWN CEDARS, AND TAKETH THE CYPRESS AND THE OAK, WHICH HE STRENGTHENETH FOR HIMSELF AMONG THE TREES OF THE FOREST: HE PLANTETH AN ASH, AND THE RAIN DOTH  NOURISH IT.
In Ancient Times forests and trees were plentiful all over the Land of Israel.  Green vegetation especially trees increase precipitation and lower the temperature.  The Arabs chop down and burn all the trees and graze goats intensively. Goats eat up the roots of all greenery. Then top soil is blown and washed away.  What was once fertile country turns into a desert.

 [Isaiah 44:15] THEN SHALL IT BE FOR A MAN TO BURN: FOR HE WILL TAKE THEREOF, AND WARM HIMSELF; YEA,  HE KINDLETH IT, AND BAKETH BREAD; YEA, HE MAKETH A GOD, AND WORSHIPPETH IT; HE MAKETH IT A GRAVEN IMAGE, AND FALLETH DOWN THERETO.                

 [Isaiah 44:16] HE BURNETH PART THEREOF IN THE FIRE; WITH PART THEREOF HE EATETH FLESH; HE ROASTETH ROAST, AND IS SATISFIED: YEA, HE WARMETH HIMSELF, AND SAITH, AHA, I AM WARM, I HAVE SEEN THE FIRE:

 [Isaiah 44:17] AND THE RESIDUE THEREOF HE MAKETH A GOD, EVEN HIS GRAVEN IMAGE: HE FALLETH DOWN UNTO IT, AND WORSHIPPETH IT, AND PRAYETH UNTO IT, AND SAITH, DELIVER ME; FOR THOU ART MY GOD.

 [Isaiah 44:18] THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN NOR UNDERSTOOD: FOR HE HATH SHUT THEIR EYES, THAT THEY CANNOT SEE; AND THEIR HEARTS, THAT THEY CANNOT UNDERSTAND.

 [Isaiah 44:19] AND NONE CONSIDERETH IN HIS HEART, NEITHER IS THERE KNOWLEDGE NOR UNDERSTANDING TO SAY, I HAVE BURNED PART OF IT IN THE FIRE; YEA, ALSO I HAVE BAKED BREAD UPON THE COALS THEREOF; I HAVE ROASTED FLESH, AND EATEN IT: AND SHALL I MAKE THE RESIDUE THEREOF AN ABOMINATION? SHALL I FALL DOWN TO THE STOCK OF A TREE?
We worship money and material acquisitions but we are the ones who create these things.

 [Isaiah 44:20] HE FEEDETH ON ASHES: A DECEIVED HEART HATH TURNED HIM ASIDE, THAT HE CANNOT DELIVER HIS SOUL, NOR SAY, IS THERE NOT A LIE IN MY RIGHT HAND?

 [Isaiah 44:21] REMEMBER THESE, O JACOB AND ISRAEL; FOR THOU ART MY SERVANT: I HAVE FORMED THEE; THOU ART MY SERVANT: O ISRAEL, THOU SHALT NOT BE FORGOTTEN OF ME.
We are the servant-people of God. He has not forgotten us.

 [Isaiah 44:22] I HAVE BLOTTED OUT, AS A THICK CLOUD, THY TRANSGRESSIONS, AND, AS A CLOUD, THY SINS: RETURN UNTO ME; FOR I HAVE REDEEMED THEE.
We will be redeemed and delivered.

 [Isaiah 44:23] SING, O YE HEAVENS; FOR THE LORD HATH DONE IT: SHOUT, YE LOWER PARTS OF THE EARTH: BREAK FORTH INTO SINGING, YE MOUNTAINS, O FOREST, AND EVERY TREE THEREIN: FOR THE LORD HATH REDEEMED JACOB, AND GLORIFIED HIMSELF IN ISRAEL.                 

 [Isaiah 44:24] THUS SAITH THE LORD, THY REDEEMER, AND HE THAT FORMED THEE FROM THE WOMB, I AM THE LORD THAT MAKETH ALL THINGS; THAT STRETCHETH FORTH THE HEAVENS ALONE; THAT SPREADETH ABROAD THE EARTH BY MYSELF;

 [Isaiah 44:25] THAT FRUSTRATETH THE TOKENS OF THE LIARS, AND MAKETH DIVINERS MAD; THAT TURNETH WISE MEN BACKWARD, AND MAKETH THEIR KNOWLEDGE FOOLISH;
God is true. The Bible is true.  The "wise" academics who deny this are fools.

 [Isaiah 44:26] THAT CONFIRMETH THE WORD OF HIS SERVANT, AND PERFORMETH THE COUNSEL OF HIS  MESSENGERS; THAT SAITH TO JERUSALEM, THOU SHALT BE INHABITED; AND TO THE CITIES OF JUDAH, YE SHALL BE BUILT, AND I WILL RAISE UP THE DECAYED PLACES THEREOF:
Judah and Jerusalem will also be remembered.

 [Isaiah 44:27] THAT SAITH TO THE DEEP, BE DRY, AND I WILL DRY UP THY RIVERS:

 [Isaiah 44:28] THAT SAITH OF CYRUS, HE IS MY SHEPHERD, AND SHALL PERFORM ALL MY PLEASURE: EVEN SAYING TO JERUSALEM, THOU SHALT BE BUILT; AND TO THE TEMPLE, THY FOUNDATION SHALL BE LAID.
Cyrus the King of Persia enabled the Jews to return from their Babylonian Exile. Isaiah prophesied about Cyrus around 60 years prior to his existence. Josephus says that Cyrus saw his name written in the Book of Isaiah and so fulfilled the Prophecy. Isaiah was prophesying both concerning his own time and the period immediately after and also for the Last Days. In a way Cyrus represents the Lost Ten Tribes as we will see.  Cyrus may have been descended from the Lost Ten Tribes. He belonged to the Pasargadae clan who ruled Persia. Pasargadae in Persian-Aramaic could mean "Sons of Gad".
President Truman who assisted the Jews in creating the present State of Israel once declared to a visiting delegation, "I am Cyrus".
Cyrus is also recalled in the first verse of the next chapter (ch.45): see there.

Chapter 45
[Isaiah 45:1] THUS SAITH THE LORD TO HIS ANOINTED, TO CYRUS, WHOSE RIGHT HAND I HAVE HOLDEN, TO SUBDUE NATIONS BEFORE HIM; AND I WILL LOOSE THE LOINS OF KINGS, TO OPEN BEFORE HIM THE TWO LEAVED GATES; AND THE GATES SHALL NOT BE SHUT;

  CYRUS
The Prophet Isaiah had already predicted that a ruler named Cyrus would be the one to free the exiles. Cyrus was recalled by NAME in Isaiah 44; 28, "To his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held..." and in the next verse, 45; 1: "That says of Cyrus, He is my shepherd..."
Both traditional and modern commentators usually understand Isaiah chapter 45 to be referring to Cyrus the King of Persia. Cyrus was the King of Persia who conquered Babylon and enabled the Jews to return to Judea and rebuild the Temple.
Isaiah prophesied about 100 years before Cyrus. Josephus relates that CYRUS was shown his name written in the Prophecy of Isaiah and this is what led him to allow the Jews to return. Not only did Cyrus conquer Babylon and help the Jews return to their land, he also conquered Egypt and ruled over Nubia south of Egypt. Nubia was known as Cush. Cyrus also ruled over regions to the west of India and parts of Pakistan-India itself. The following verse in Isaiah can therefore be applied perhaps to Cyrus:

 "THUS SAYS THE LORD, THE LABOR OF EGYPT, AND MERCHANDISE OF ETHIOPIA [in Hebrew: "CUSH"], AND OF THE SABAEANS, MEN OF STATURE, SHALL COME OVER UNTO YOU, AND THEY SHALL BE YOURS: THEY SHALL COME AFTER YOU; IN CHAINS THEY SHALL COME OVER, AND THEY SHALL FALL DOWN UNTO YOU, THEY SHALL MAKE SUPPLICATION UNTO YOU, SAYING, SURELY GOD IS IN YOU; AND THERE IS NO ELSE, THERE IS NO OTHER GOD" (Isaiah 45;14).

We, however, believe this verse is not addressed primarily to Cyrus but to the Ten Tribes in Exile. Some proof of this has already been indicated: Concerning the idea of Cyrus, the following points should be noted:

There is a principle that Prophecies that were written down, even when they were fulfilled shortly afterwards, will have a wider application in a later period especially towards the Latter Days. Admittedly Prophecies are usually designed to accord to some degree with contemporary events or with things that would occur shortly after. The main gist of the Prophecies however was for the Latter Days. Even the Commentators who apply all of the chapter to Cyrus have to admit that it does not exactly fit in key details. It must have a wider application.

Even in the verses where the name CYRUS is expressly mentioned, the sages understood the verse as applying to Cyrus only in a PARTIAL SENSE.
For example,
"The Holy One, Blessed He, said to the Anointed-Messiah, I have a complaint against Cyrus, I said he will build my House and gather in my exiles but he went and said, Whoever amongst my people wants to go up can do so [and build the House themselves]..." (Megilla 12; Rashi), i.e. the expression in the verse Isaiah 45;1: "...to his anointed, to Cyrus," was understood as applying to two different people, to the Anointed-Messiah and to Cyrus!
Alternately the verse was formulated in deliberately ambiguous language giving Cyrus the potential if he so wanted to have done more than he actually did!
    The Commentary Daat Sofrim (Isaiah 45): <<For the address to Cyrus was not "To Cyrus his Anointed-Messiah" but rather it was said, "To his Anointed-Messiah, [and] to Cyrus," as if to two different entities.>>
The whole of this Prophecy of Isaiah is arranged in an oracular style of mainly short paragraphs with no necessary strong connection between them. The expression concerning "LABOR OF EGYPT, AND MERCHANDISE OF ETHIOPIA [in Hebrew, CUSH], AND OF THE SABAEANS" is not necessarily connected to the preceding verses concerning Cyrus. The following verses return to speak only of Israel. The verse itself speaks of an ultimate acknowledgement of the God of Israel by the captives. This could only apply to Israel. Israel is discussed before Cyrus is spoken of, and afterwards Israel is again mentioned. In Isaiah 43;3 it says "FOR I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD, THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL, YOUR SAVIOR, I GAVE EGYPT FOR YOUR ATONEMENT, ETHIOPIA [Hebrew: "CUSH"] AND SEBA UNDERNEATH YOU." Here Egypt, Cush, Seba are linked with Israel and can be understood in the Hebrew as being placed under Israel's subjection!!!
A simple reading of Isaiah chapter 45 does not leave much room for Cyrus, the emphasis is on Israel.

This is the verse we are primarily considering:

"THUS SAYS THE LORD, THE LABOR OF EGYPT, AND MERCHANDISE OF CUSH, AND OF THE SABAEANS, MEN OF STATURE, SHALL COME OVER UNTO YOU, AND THEY SHALL BE YOURS: THEY SHALL COME AFTER YOU; IN CHAINS THEY SHALL COME OVER, AND THEY SHALL FALL DOWN UNTO YOU, THEY SHALL MAKE SUPPLICATION UNTO YOU, SAYING, SURELY GOD IS IN YOU; AND THERE IS NO ELSE, THERE IS NO OTHER GOD" (ISAIAH 45;14).
One may take this verse as perhaps applying to Cyrus though there is no necessity to do so. Even if it is taken as applicable in part to CYRUS the context and the similar verse in Isaiah 43;3 concerning Israel says, "Egypt for your atonement, CUSH and Seba underneath you." This shows that the primary application is to Israel. In all the rest of chapter 45 following verse 14, Israel is addressed to and mentioned: "Israel shall be saved" (45;17) "the seed of Jacob" (45; 19), "all the seed of Israel" (45;24). You may yet not be convinced but take the verse as applying to Israel and consider our explanation:
    According to our understanding of the Prophet Isaiah (43;3 and 45;14 and the verses around them) it was predicted that the Lost Ten Tribes would rule over India, Egypt and much of Negro Africa. The trade with India would be theirs, the recompense arriving (via the Suez Canal) at Egypt would be theirs, and they would transport Negroes (many of whom were large-bodied) across the seas in chains. The whole passage ends on the point that in the Last Days they will return to worship the True God. In their own way they had always subconsciously acknowledged the One God Of Israel to some degree, but had publicly worshipped something else as explained at length elsewhere in our book, "Ephraim. The Gentile Children of Israel". In the Last Days Israel will then worship the True God and descendants of the Negro slaves will also see the truth and bear witness to the God of Israel. We identify the Lost Ten Tribes headed by Britain and America as Israel. If we consider Britain and North America as one "Anglo-Saxon" entity then the Prophecy indicates that the Lost Ten Tribes are amongst them. The British ruled India. Economically they gained very much from trade with India, they ruled Egypt and controlled the Suez Canal linking the Mediterranean Sea with the East. They also controlled much of Africa and Negro Slaves in chains were sent by them and others acting on their behalf across the Sea to North America and to the West Indies. They have an ambivalent attitude towards the God of the Bible but formally worship in a way described in Isaiah in the rest of chapter 45.
    This is the simple meaning of the verse, BUT in order to understand and appreciate this plain meaning there are several other factors to consider.

The King James version says:
"THUS SAYS THE LORD, THE LABOR OF EGYPT, AND MERCHANDISE OF CUSH, AND OF THE SABAEANS, MEN OF STATURE, SHALL COME OVER UNTO YOU, AND THEY SHALL BE YOURS: THEY SHALL COME AFTER YOU; IN CHAINS THEY SHALL COME OVER, AND THEY SHALL FALL DOWN UNTO YOU, THEY SHALL MAKE SUPPLICATION UNTO YOU, SAYING, SURELY GOD IS IN YOU; AND THERE IS NONE ELSE, THERE IS NO OTHER GOD" (ISAIAH 45;14).


The expression "labor of Egypt" is an accurate translation but the words in Hebrew [yagiat Mitsraim] can also be rendered as "that which comes unto Egypt".
The "merchandise of Ethiopia" can also be rendered as the "merchandise of Cush". "Cush" is the Hebrew word translated as Ethiopia. "Cush" was also the Egyptian word for the region of Nubia meaning southern Egypt and the Sudan. The Greeks applied the name "Cush" to the whole of eastern Africa1. On the other hand, ethnic and geographical names such as "Kash" or "Kas" or "Kush" are also found throughout early Indian histories as well as in neighboring areas. In Modern Hebrew "Cushi" usually means a Negro of African origin and India is known as "Hodu". In Biblical Hebrew however there is no distinct name for India. Both Ethiopia and neighboring parts of Africa and India would have been referred to in Biblical Hebrew as CUSH. The ancient Sumerians and Assyrians used the same term ("Meluccha") both for Ethiopia and for northwest India. Classical Greek Geographers (such as Herodotos) referred to the area northwest of India as the "Ethiopia of Asia".
    The Aramaic Translations to the Bible often translate "Cush" as "Hodu" or "Hindiki" both of which mean India. The famous commentator Rashi also equated "CUSH" with India. There was a close connection between India, Ethiopia, and Africa. The Rabbinical Commentator and international traveler Avraham Iben Ezra noted similarities between Ancient Egypt and India. The verse in Isaiah may therefore be referring to India under the name Cush.

 [Isaiah 45:2] I WILL GO BEFORE THEE, AND MAKE THE CROOKED PLACES STRAIGHT: I WILL BREAK IN PIECES THE GATES OF BRASS, AND CUT IN SUNDER THE BARS OF IRON:

 [Isaiah 45:10] WOE UNTO HIM THAT SAITH UNTO HIS FATHER, WHAT BEGETTEST THOU? OR TO THE WOMAN, WHAT HAST THOU BROUGHT FORTH?

 [Isaiah 45:11] THUS SAITH THE LORD, THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL, AND HIS MAKER, ASK ME OF THINGS TO   COME CONCERNING MY SONS, AND CONCERNING THE WORK OF MY HANDS COMMAND YE ME.

 [Isaiah 45:14] THUS SAITH THE LORD, THE LABOUR OF EGYPT, AND MERCHANDISE OF ETHIOPIA AND OF THE  SABEANS, MEN OF STATURE, SHALL COME OVER UNTO THEE, AND THEY SHALL BE THINE: THEY SHALL COME  AFTER THEE; IN CHAINS THEY SHALL COME OVER, AND THEY SHALL FALL DOWN UNTO THEE, THEY SHALL MAKE    SUPPLICATION UNTO THEE, SAYING, SURELY GOD IS IN THEE; AND THERE IS NONE ELSE, THERE IS NO GOD.
As we explained above the above verse can be explained to say: "That which comes to Egypt [via the Suez  Canal], the trade of India [Cush], and of the Sabeans [of negro Africa], shall come over [the sea] unto you. They will be yours, in chains they will come unto you"."
This was fulfilled by the British and Americans.

 [Isaiah 45:15] VERILY THOU ART A GOD THAT HIDEST THYSELF, O GOD OF ISRAEL, THE SAVIOUR.
A God who hides himself. In Hebrew "hides himself" is "Mistatar" from the root "Sater". This is also the root for the Roman god "Saturn" who may originally have been based on a Hebrew or Phoenician prototype.  Some of the Romans were descended from Edomites. Edom had several areas of settlement including to the southeast of Israel and to the north and off the coast of the Phoenician Island of Tyre. Edom was heavily influenced by Israelite and Phoenician culture.  The ancient pagans used to identify foreign gods with figures from their own pantheon. In some sources both the Phoenicians and Romans identified the God of Israel with Saturn.

<<The Israelites were identified by others with a pagan god. The Celts of Gaul and Britain were also identified with this same god and in pagan thought this would imply that the Celts and Israelites had a mutual source of origin*1.          
     Ancient peoples (e.g. the Greeks and Romans) often registered abstract cultural values and historical facts in Mythological terms. A certain god or demi-god of heroic status (such as Hercules) would be used to represent a whole ethnic group in one phase of its existence whereas another such image would be used to symbolise that same people at a different stage. By considering aspects of these mythologies in conjunction with information gained from other sources further affirmation may be obtained for conclusions which have already been tentatively reached. Classical Greek and Roman legends may be understood as recording an Israelite migration to Britain and the west. These legends conform to ideas also expressed in British Celtic mythology and in popular  Jewish Rabbinical lore*2.

KRONOS, SATURN AND THE TITANS

"When the LORD your God will cut off the nations from before you, whither you go to possess them, and you succeed them, and dwell in the land.
"Take heed to yourself that you be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before you; and that you inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods" even so I will do likewise. (Deuteronomy 12;29-30).

    The Greeks (and after them, the Romans) said that Uranus was the first god. Uranus begat the Titans from his wife Thera (i.e. earth). Amongst the Titans was Saturn also known as Kronos and Typhon. Kronos was considered to be the same as the Caananite god "Baal Zephon". The Egyptians identified Baal Zephon (i.e. Saturn or Kronos) with Seth who figured in their own mythology often as representative of the Hyksos or Israelites. Saturn (i.e. Kronos*3) deposed Uranus and became king of the gods in his place. Saturn, in his turn, was also deposed by his son, Jupiter called Jove by the Romans. Jupiter expelled Saturn (from the east) who went to Italy and after a sojourn  there continued to Britain where he and the Titans established a kingdom and lived happily ever after.

Note: Saturn represented Israel or the Northern Israelites (Ten Tribes) and was exiled and went to Britain. The Arabs had a similar tradition based on Jewish sources.

    Sanchuniathon was a Phoenician writer believed to have lived ca.600 b.c.e. and is known to us due to his being quoted by other authors who came later. Philo of Alexandria (in Egypt) in about 54 b.c.e. quoted Sanchuniathon as saying:
 
    "Kronos, whom the Egyptians call Thouth, excelled in wisdom among the Phoenicians ...Kronos then, whom the Phoenicians call ISRAEL*4, who was king of the country  and subsequently after his decease  was deified as the star Saturn had an only begotten son ..called Jehud...he arrayed his son ...in royal apparel and sacrificed him"5.
Note: "Jehud" means Judah.   Sanchuniathon identifies the Israelites with Saturn.
   
     In the Bible (Genesis ch.22) it is related how Abraham was commanded to sacrifice Isaac who in terms of the Biblical promise was considered his ONLY SON. At the last minute an angel appeared to Abraham and prevented him from putting his son to death. The Phoenicians were heavily influenced by the Israelites and often amalgamated Israelite traditions to their own pagan ones. From the above quotation from Sanchuniathon one can see that Kronos-Saturn was identifiable (in their eyes) as Israel; other pagan sources tried to equate the God of Israel with Kronos-Saturn. They also identified the Canaanite Phoenician god Baal with Saturn6 ( Kronos) and Baal amongst the Israelites was sometimes confused with their own God. "Baal" in Hebrew literally means "Lord" or "Master" and after acquiring pagan idolatrous connotations the term became anathema to the Israelites. Originally the appellation may have had a legitimate applicability and names bearing the root "baal" may not necessarily reflect idolatrous influences.    
    Some sources associated Saturn (Kronos) or baal with Mount Cassius in Phoenicia which was also known as Mount Zephon. Saturn was called Baal Zephon which the Greeks rendered as Typhon. "Zephon" means "hidden" " the same as Saturn. The Romans therefore used a Hebrew name for this god which name was synonymous with the term employed by the Canaanites.

The Egyptian god Seth (known also as Typhon, i.e. "Baal Zephon") represented the Hyksos "shepherd-kings" of old who had left Egypt13. The Hyksos had been Hebrews and according to Martin Bernal,  "The Hyksos Seth was the Israelite God"14. Other traditions located the Titans and Saturn in the west. One version said that the Titans had been thrown into Tartarus meaning an underground region located (said Homer) in the Atlantic Ocean. Strabo understood Homer as connecting Tartarus with the vicinity of Tartessus (i.e. Tarshish on the Spanish Atlantic coast) and the west.
    Schulten quotes Kallimachos (Hymns of Delos, 174) as referring  to the GALLI (of Gaul) as Titans. A similar source (Etym.Magnum 220,6) states that Cyclops (one of the Titans) was the father of Galatos (i.e. the Galatians) and ancestor to the Galli. The Galli (Gauls) are also known from Irish sources as settlers in ancient Ireland and are referred to as Galion.
    As stated, Kronos (i.e. Saturn) was believed to have been deposed and to have gone west and to rule in the "Isles of the Dead" meaning the British Isles.

    "Cronus..and all the defeated Titans, except Atlas, were banished to a British island in the farthest west (or some say confined  in Tartarus..."15
   
    It is worth noting the implied worship of Cronus (Saturn) by the Celts in the following reference:

    "It is said also that the ancients sacrificed human victims to Cronus, as was done at Carthage while that city stood and as is still done among the Keltoi and certain other western nations" -Dionysus of Halicarnassus: Roman Antiquities I.36 16.                   
    Saturn according to Classical Mythology had been  exiled together with his brothers, the Titans. A source used by Plutarch (Isolde and Osira 31, no.259) says that the Titan, Typhon, fathered "Hierosolymus" [i.e. Jerusalem] and "Iudaeus" meaning Judah*17: Cronos and Typhon were originally probably the same. The god baal*18 was frequently depicted as a two horned deity and the name "Kronos" derives from the Hebrew "Keren" meaning "horn " in Hebrew. Similarly a horned god of the British Celts was known as "Cernunnos".    
    The same root "sater" (to hide) as that found in the name Saturn was also employed by the Prophet Isaiah in connection with Israel:

    "Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself [Hebrew:"miStaTeR" derived from the verb-root STR which is also the root of Saturn without the vowels], O God of Israel, the Saviour" (Isaiah 45;15).

Isaiah continues:
"They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols" (Isaiah 45;16).
    Pagan religions (especially those of the Northern Israelites) took Hebrew Biblical concepts and confused them with idolatrous ones. The God of Israel was in some cases identified with pagan idols or represented in idolatrous fashion.
This was forbidden but happened:
    Whatever the forces of idolatry seemed to offer was only at the very best a weak reflection of the One God who is directly reachable by those who acknowledge him. This truth will ultimately be clear to all and all those who took another path will be confounded.   

    "If your heart turn away, so that you will not hear, but shall be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them.
    "I denounce unto you this day, that you shall surely perish, and you shall not prolong your days upon the land  which you are passing over the Jordan to go to possess it.
(Deuteronomy 30;17-18).

    The Lost Tribes of Israel were exiled because they worshipped other gods (2-Kings 17;7 22), they confused Baal with the God of Israel (Hosea 2;16). This confusion was transmitted to foreigners who identified Baal (i.e. Typhon= Kronos= Saturn) with the god or progenitor of Israel. The foreigners also equated him with the god or progenitor of the western Celts especially those of the British Isles. The pagans believed that Kronos and his followers (i.e. the ancient Israelites) had been deposed from the east and had gone to Britain and the west. To some extent these equations were peculiar in application to the Jews and to the Western Celts and were based on fact: Bel (i.e. Baal) and Cernunnos (i.e. Kronos, i.e. Saturn), or Bel in the guise of Cernunnos,  were worshipped in the British Isles. The Jews and the western Celts did have a common ancestry and once worshipped the same God. The identification of the Western Celts with Israel is proven by the Bible and through history*19 and so these facts are echoed in Mythology.


 [Isaiah 45:16] THEY SHALL BE ASHAMED, AND ALSO CONFOUNDED, ALL OF THEM: THEY SHALL GO TO CONFUSION TOGETHER THAT ARE MAKERS OF IDOLS.

 [Isaiah 45:17] BUT ISRAEL SHALL BE SAVED IN THE LORD WITH AN EVERLASTING SALVATION: YE SHALL NOT BE ASHAMED NOR CONFOUNDED WORLD WITHOUT END.

 [Isaiah 45:18] FOR THUS SAITH THE LORD THAT CREATED THE HEAVENS; GOD HIMSELF THAT FORMED THE EARTH AND MADE IT; HE HATH ESTABLISHED IT, HE CREATED IT NOT IN VAIN, HE FORMED IT TO BE INHABITED: I AM THE LORD; AND THERE IS NONE ELSE.          

 [Isaiah 45:19] I HAVE NOT SPOKEN IN SECRET, IN A DARK PLACE OF THE EARTH: I SAID NOT UNTO THE SEED OF JACOB, SEEK YE ME IN VAIN: I THE LORD SPEAK RIGHTEOUSNESS, I DECLARE THINGS THAT ARE RIGHT.

 [Isaiah 45:20] ASSEMBLE YOURSELVES AND COME; DRAW NEAR TOGETHER, YE THAT ARE ESCAPED OF THE   NATIONS: THEY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE THAT SET UP THE WOOD OF THEIR GRAVEN IMAGE, AND PRAY UNTO A GOD THAT CANNOT SAVE.

 [Isaiah 45:21] TELL YE, AND BRING THEM NEAR; YEA, LET THEM TAKE COUNSEL TOGETHER: WHO HATH DECLARED THIS FROM ANCIENT TIME? WHO HATH TOLD IT FROM THAT TIME? HAVE NOT I THE LORD? AND THERE IS NO GOD ELSE BESIDE ME; A JUST GOD AND A SAVIOUR; THERE IS NONE BESIDE ME.

 [Isaiah 45:22] LOOK UNTO ME, AND BE YE SAVED, ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH: FOR I AM GOD, AND THERE  IS NONE ELSE.                 
God is calling to Israel to return and wirship HIM.

 [Isaiah 45:23] I HAVE SWORN BY MYSELF, THE WORD IS GONE OUT OF MY MOUTH IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND  SHALL NOT RETURN, THAT UNTO ME EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW, EVERY TONGUE SHALL SWEAR.                  

 [Isaiah 45:24] SURELY, SHALL ONE SAY, IN THE LORD HAVE I RIGHTEOUSNESS AND STRENGTH: EVEN TO HIM  SHALL MEN COME; AND ALL THAT ARE INCENSED AGAINST HIM SHALL BE ASHAMED.         

 [Isaiah 45:25] IN THE LORD SHALL ALL THE SEED OF ISRAEL BE JUSTIFIED, AND SHALL GLORY.
