Shalom Yair,
there is a prophecy about 'Elam' in Jeremiah 49:
Jer 49:34 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam (Strong's H5867) in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,
Jer 49:35 Thus saith the LORD of hosts;Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
Jer 49:36 And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
Jer 49:37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:
Jer 49:38 And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD.
Jer 49:39 But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD.
Do you have any information or just hints about this Elam? What do Jewish sources say? Strong's Dictionary says: H5867
o
e yla m o la m
ay-lawm', o-lawm'
Probably from H5956; hidden, that is, distant; Elam, a son of Shem, and his descendants, with their country; also of six Israelites: - Elam.
Is there a connection to Israelite Tribes in the past? I'm asking, because of the wording, which is similate to the wording of the prophecies, that speak of the Northern Kingdom House of Israel:
"in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of "
It would be nice to get any infos about the subject.
H'Shem bless you abundantly

Reply:
Sonja Shalom,
Josephus and some of the Sages identified Elam with Persia i.e. with Iran of
today.
Archaeological finds do indicate that the much of the rank and file of the
Persian manpower
were of Elamite origin. Elamite finds are also reported of in the Sakai area
east of the Caspian Sea in Central Asia.
What may be called the Herman Hoeh school of research identifies descendants of
Elam with elements in Eastern Europe.
Craig White, "In Search of ...The Origin of Nations" opines that the Elamites
merged with the Sarmatians
who emerged in Eastern Scythia. Craig White traces Elamites to part of the
Poles of Poland, part of the Ukrainians,
and part of the Byelorussians, Serbians, and Croats, as well as the Wends in
Germany.

4. Question on the
Table of Nations (Genesis 10)
Dylano wrote:
Shalom,
I believe I read on a Brit-Am Now newsletter, a commentary on the Table of Nations in Genesis 10. It went through the sons of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, commenting on who their modern descendants are. I checked the Brit-Am Now archive for this specific newsletter but, I can't seem to find it. Could you please help me out with this and possibly provide a link to this one? This would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Dylan.

We once considered writing a book on this subject and began the necessary
research.
For the moment this particular project of ours has been postponed indefintiely.
I am not sure what you were referring to but we have some notes on
the Table of Nations in the following articles:

5. Nancy: Keeping
the Law according to the Rabbis?
RE: "Brit-Am Now"-1019
Law issue
I think it is important to point out that when it is said that non-Jews are not
obligated to keep the law and perhaps shouldn't in all of its nuances that this
includes all of the rabbinical interpretations and laws. Since I rarely meet an
Israelite who accepts rabbinical law, I'm not sure why this is problematic.
