1. Max Rambow: George Washington story may be fiction!
From: Max Rambow <irmrambow@yahoo.com>
 Re: "Brit-Am Now"-1033
#1. George Washington and Hanukkah

Shalom Yair
As near as I can tell the George Washington Hannuka story is from a historical novel. It's a great story and I wish it was true.
Sincerely Max

2. Tartan Garments at Masada?
Extract from:
"Lost Israelite Identity|"
The Patriarch Israel took four women to wife. Two of his wives, Leah and Rachel, were sisters. The other two were Bilhah the maidservant of Rachel, and Zilpah the maidservant of Leah. His favourite wife was Rachel who bore him Joseph and Benjamin. Israel made Joseph "a coat of many colors" (Genesis 37:3) or in Hebrew a "Cotonet  Pasim" which can mean an overcoat or dress (i.e. "Cotonet") of "pasim", i.e. of  (coloured) stripes or intersecting squares (Gersonides). "Cotonet pasim" therefore could also even mean a kind of tartan kilt. The tartan design is simply that of colored stripes intertwined. The "cotonet passim" or tartan kilt apparently had implications of rank. This point is worth noting since although the present book adduces evidence showing the Israelite origins of many of the peoples of West Europe, a special emphasis is placed on the so-called "Celtic" peoples of Britain amongst whom the "tartan" is/or was worn. Later Tartan designs were important for peoples of "Celtic" affiliation to the east of Central Asia and in the British Isles. Even in Judea in the time of the Second Temple the tartan quilt appears to have been fashionable amongst the Jews. In the Jewish revolt against the Romans (ca.66 CE) one of the last Jewish strongholds to fall was that of Masada in the Judaean Desert. Archaeological findings from Masada show that amongst the Jewish rebels were those apparently wearing garments produced in Britain and bearing a tartan design. "Indeed, some of the Jewish resistance fighters may have been wearing original Scottish-style imported tartans - several fragments have been identified" (David Keys "The Independent", 31.1.95).

"Indeed, some of the Jewish resistance fighters may have been wearing original Scottish-style imported tartans - several fragments have been identified". ("The Independent" 31.1.95 article by David Keys, Archaeology Correspondent, commenting on an exhibition held at the British Museum of textiles found at Masada; Information obtained from Dr. Clifford Smyth of Belfast, U.K.):

In  Assyrian inscriptions,  the word "tartan" denotes rank or someone of rank. John E.Wall of Manitoba, Canada, in a letter to the author first suggested that  Joseph's "coat of many colours" was the forerunner of the Scottish tartan. He further wrote: "I cannot see why Joseph's brothers would be jealous of him for his colourful apparel, unless the colours somehow were an indicator of rank. In Scotland, one's rank was shown by the number of colours one wore on the kilt, one colour being the lowest rank, seven colours being the highest".
The significance of rank in the tartan colours  is  described in an article by Frank McGaugh..
The Hebrew expression "cotonet pasim" is found too in 2-Samuel 13;18 and translated as "garment of diverse colours".  The verse says, "And she had a garment of diverse colours upon her; for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins appareled.." Based on this verse the Jewish Commentator  Ralbag (Gersonides 1288-1344) opined that "cotonet pasim" was a garment denoting royalty.  Kaplan "TLT" p.102, Genesis 37;3: Note beginning "long colourful coat".
In Hebrew "cotonet-pasim" (according to the Commentators and simple literal meaning) denotes both a pattern of interweaving lines and squares (Gersonides: "mishbatsot") and different colours i.e. a "tartan"-type design.

3. Ruchamah: Baptists Predominant in Torah-Honoring?
From: Ruchamah <Ruchamah@comcast.net>

Hey Yair! Blessings from America! and Chag Sameach!

We know that at the time of the historical Egyptian exodus, the Most High provided a place of safety for his people in the land of Goshen. It was there in Goshen that they *sat out* the ten plagues. Is it possible that the Most High has done this AGAIN?

I stumbled on this map while doing an unrelated search. I sat in awe! About 90% of the newly Torah-honoring christians in America come from a baptist background.

It APPEARS to me that the Most High HAS done it again!
Any thoughts?

With love for Zion,
Ruchamah

5. Inverness: Zionism and a Message of Support

Hang in there, Yair. You are doing good work.

At the end of the day, there is still a lot of resentment over the
policies of the Zionist movement. All the popular leaders get
killed...Herzl, Jabotinsky, Kahane- and any alternative to the
party line is crushed, Shin Bet vs Settlers, etc. Just like in
other national and change movements.

I was just reminded on a YouTube video of the firing of the Atalena
by the Zionists of Bengurion Rabin et al. Which futher ties in with
the complaint about mainstream Zionism attitude during the 2nd
world war. Politics come way before people, and it's a very
particular agenda.

"The Trotskys make the revolutions, and the Bronsteins pay the
bills"
[Trotsky was the non-Jewish name of Leonid Bronstein.
Trotsky together with Lenin made possible the Russian Revolution.
It was said that when the Ruusian were pleased with Communism they referred to him as "Trostsky".
When they were not pleased they called him "Bronstein"!]
For me this is a further demonstration of the awesome majesty of
the Lord, that He should choose to use evil to bring about His
greater Will.
