1. Charlotte Mecklenburg: Ephraim Still in the Wilderness
Dear Yair,
A couple of comments before going to my main purpose in writing. Some say Christians do not want to be called Christians. Those who feel more a kin to the Jewish community, do not like to be identified with Constantine and how he redirected the Christians at that time.  You are right about Christianity being from Rome.  It got hi-jacked many centuries ago and there are those who just don't feel like they fit into its mold.

A couple of months ago I sent you a letter about some perspectives I had gained from Ezekiel this year that I had never noticed before. Because the Lord God who owns the land speaks about who he is going to bring back to his land, I got the impression that in order for the two sticks that Ezekiel talks about in chapter 37 to be joined, the people they represent would have to be in the land.

This last Shabbat as I was awakening my Lord and God gave me Shalom regarding this subject and how it is going. We had just talked two days before with a young man in Ashkelon who was so willing to dialog with us. We could listen to him and he to us and there was shalom between us even though we do not see everything the same. He was very accepting of us and why we thought the way we do. So with this in mind and things that you have said to us and the way you have accepted us in spite of our differences HaShem was able to impress upon me some new thoughts regarding how he sees things among those who have made him their God.

It was as if he was saying to me as I was meditating, "you are always looking at the big picture of the community of Israel here in the land. Think of all the Jews both here and in the U.S. who are your friends and like to dialog with you.  Many of them have expressed a desire to see you live in the land.  Can't you see that I am already joining the two sticks. It doesn't have to be here in the land because my entire household of people are in a wilderness. You do not know which ones have come under the rod to live in the land or which ones are yet to come under the rod to live in the land. Just believe and be glad about those you have already seen in your circle of acquaintances that have accepted you.  The forgiveness and healing has already started." This is not word for word my thoughts that I had but it is close.

After those thoughts, I felt in my whole being a Shalom that I had not experienced before.
And I thought since I shared the beginning of my journey regarding this subject that I should also share the next step for me in this wilderness journey.

Blessings and Shalom,
Charlotte Mecklenburg

2. Craig Blackwood: When Ephraim joins Judah

Shalom Yair

I have enjoyed the vigorous debate on Ephraim joining Judah.  I applaud your fortitude in allowing such frankness while moderating the uglier emotional
and irrational parts.  Not everyone has 100% of the truth and neither is anyone 100% wrong.  I may not agree 100% with your stance but you are agreeable more than anyone else.

I continue to receive your forum with anticipation as usual there is normally something new to add to the pot.

I pray that you (and may we all) live to see the reality of our dreams.

#3. Dave Browning:  "The Children of Joseph"
Dear Brit-Am, et al,

>>>Brit-Am Reply: No-one is talking about becoming a Jew.
We are speaking of Israelite Ancestry, what it means, and in what ways we are obligated by it.<<<

I understand that, its jus i think some of the ideas i hear don't. For example: The land Israel, the Nation, holds today is not what Scripture allots to the tribes. Most of the land belonging to the Northern Tribes, is held by Arab/Muslim nations. The point being, Joseph has no right to tell Judah what is law, or even right (moral), in Judah's portion.

Were Joseph to want his portion in Israel, he simply has to take it, as he did in the days of Joshua, under the Mosaic covenant (which is a continuation of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob's covenant). Its pretty much the same deal now, it was then. Frankly, Ephraim, and the other brothers, must take up their own responsibilities, if they want a voice in the common wealth. Unless, they do that, all they have left is Judah's hope, and if they can't help that, then at least they should stay out of the way.

The Israel of David included both sides, the valley, of the Jordan. Damascus, Tyre, Sidon were proudly subject to Jerusalem, when Israel was "one". The Sinai... all the way to the Red sea was Israel's; as David's armies patrolled. Indeed, the Israel "Promised" spans from the Nile to the Euphrates. Lebanon, Syria, Jordan... were all created from the bones of ancient Israel. Mecca, was founded by the sons of Judah.

Ephraim, and his brothers, need only get busy, if they want a say. Curiously, this sends shivers along the Jew's spine, as the last time Ephraim got busy (circa 1000 AD) the slaughter was hellish for all, not only for the haters, but the brothers too, suffered hell.

The Good News (smile) is theres a lotta land in Israel left, its all basically still there, for the brothers. Will they take it? Does the old farm even matter anymore... to the son's?

4. Joan Griffith: "even for Jews it is becoming more difficult"
Subject: How Do You Know You Are A Jew?

Hi,
Since there are so many people asking you about coming/moving to Israel, I thought you might be interested in this article, which shows that even for Jews it is becoming more difficult due to having to prove they are Jews, especially American Jews.
Probably the most discouraging thing you could say to such people (to save them grief) is "Be prepared to prove you are a Jew, which means your mother was a Jew, which you also must prove." Unless you feel that would anger them...

5. Larry: Why Bother to Answer?

Yair,
Why do bother with K.Brooks?" What is the chaff to the wheat?'' My perspective, a waste of my time to scroll through , rather like an uncleaned stall. You are not getting out the other side without getting... something on your boots. You need not defend against wind.

Larry Shalom,
Other people said roughly the same thing.
it is our policy in general to answer all criticism or queries against us.
Concerning the Khazars he did have an almost valid point which we did not completely answer only indicated the direction in which an answer lies.
The style of address that he chose was sub-standard so we lowered ourselves a little to reply.
This is an imperfect world whose modes we have to adjust to.
Experience shows that polemics, argumentation, etc can have an attraction value as well as leading to an higher appreciation of the truth.
People tend to dismiss the Khazar question or even historical studies in general as irrelevant but this is not so.
It is often by protecting our flanks and dealing with "marginal" issues that effective advancements are made possible.
