1. Timothy F Murray: "Bible and Sword".
Re: book of interest
Yair,

Just in passing, I want to ask if you've seen the book, "Bible and
Sword," by Barbara Tuchman.  She was British, I think, and the theme of
the book traces the almost mystical and practically unaccountable linkage
over history between Britain and Israel.  She scoffs at the Two House
concept, yet she provides an amazing chain of evidences supporting this
very thing.

Good book.  You should have it in your library--

Tim Murray

2. Joan Griffith: Persecution Revisited
We all worry about persecution. But sometimes, it is inadvertent. Sometimes we just get caught up in whatever is going on at the time, thru no fault of our own or miscalculation by God.

If you read Herbert Asbury's book, Gangs of New York, on which the movie was based, you will surely get a surprise about the history.

New York began, of course, with Dutch settlement on Manhattan Island. The boroughs of Queens, Kings, Brooklyn, and other neighborhoods began as small towns that eventually grew into the greater city. However, as the city grew, so did the numbers of poor. They gravitated to certain districts and carried on certain work, like bordellos, saloons, and gambling, on the higher side, and daily theft and murder on the lower end.

One thing that shocked me was a tale of a 15x15 foot room, in which about 30 people lived. Whoever was near the door would lie in wait for anybody walking by who happened to have food. This person would knock the relatively wealthier one in the head, even kill him/her, for the food. Nothing was said about sharing with the rest!  When someone died, including the passerby with the food, he or she was buried right in the room. The person officially vanished. Many such cases (of overcrowded rooms) contained people with no jobs, but even those who had jobs would come out in the streets at night to drink, fight, and generally enjoy the evening.

In 1863 or so, there was a flash depression, perhaps connected to the Civil War. This threw a lot of men and women out of work--bad news. In one riot over the price of bread, barrels of flour were stolen from those assumed to be maliciously holding back and raising prices--but this only caused the price of flour to rise $1 a barrel. People were hungrier still. Often, the poor would drink to replace the food they did not have.

At some point around this time, Pres. Lincoln approved the military draft. This led to more infamous rioting than I've read about Los Angeles or New Orleans. The entire town of New York turned out (except for the good guys & wealthy) to riot against the draft. The police force had been able to handle some small rioting based on an evening's "fun" but they required help from the military units, which of course was preparing to leave for the war.  The riots lasted about a week, during which thousands of men and women burned several entire blocks of buildings, savagely murdered any black person they found (hanged, cut slices in, poured oil in cuts & set on fire), and murdered as many of the police and soldiers they could.

This began as people with cudgels vs. police with cudgels, and the cudgels were used to kill the adversary. Meantime, the people not only were fighting, but they were looting, building barracades in the streets, and continually drinking looted alcohol. When someone thought of raiding the Armory for guns, thousands of them attacked and the Armory was taken. A number of these locked themselves and barricaded themselves in the Armory room where most of the weapons and ammunition were stored. This was a mistake, for when the other looters set the place on fire, they were trapped. It was said that 50 baskets of burned bones, skulls, etc. were found in the rubble later on, and nobody could figure out how many people had died in the fire.

The police stories showed that they did not fare much better, eventually having to call on ordinary citizens to volunteer, and having gunboats in the harbor aim their guns at various streets. One captain of police was spared only because one of the gang leaders recognized him as a friend. Another was shot in the thigh. Hobbling away, he was hidden, but then found, and was tortured and beaten, left lying in the street. Some "harpies" came upon him and "squatted around him, cutting..." Then they pounded his head with pavement blocks until he was dead.

Imagine this kind of thing continuing for a week! Naturally, "ordinary citizens" were moving with wagons or whatever they could carry, heading anywhere just to get out of town. No wonder Horace Greeley, who narrowly escaped from the rioters, said "Go West, young man" in his newspaper.

All my life I never heard of these riots, despite a lot of time I spent reading about the Civil War. The worst thing I ever read was about the fall of Jerusalem and Sherman's march to the sea.

It is entirely possible that our persecution will begin like that. Remember how Nero spread the accusation that the Christians set Rome on fire. Those who perished as a result in some cases were tied to pillars and set on fire as human torches. After that, the whole world hated the Christians as dangerous criminals, and they had to go underground (in the tombs) and use the fish as a way to know one another.

So it is not likely that we will be attacked for being good people or even for observing the Sabbath. Jews are not necessarily harassed on that account, they are simply harassed for being known as a Jew.  Jew=Bad  The why simply does not exist in this kind of event.

In New York, when the gangs carried on with their bad behavior, the first thing they would go for would be any "loose" negro. These would be snatched and hanged, perhaps tortured. Why? Black skin. At one point, a gang wanted the whorehouse maid. When they would not give her up, the gang tortured and killed some of the women of the house. They even attacked the 200-child Negro Orphanage, but found only one little girl hiding under a bed, whom they killed.

It is a very Satanic view. When you are involved in this kind of thing, you are taken over by crowd or mob mentality--demons??, and later on, you can't believe you did it.

The riots ended after someone had the good idea that instead of looting individual homes, the mobs should go to the US Treasury and other such buildings on Wall Street where there would be plenty of loot (Brooks Brothers) and cash (Treasury--this was before the Federal Reserve Banks). These were protected by current and new US soldiers.

This is as far as I have read in this book, but we can look around at how peaceful our state and city are and know the policemen are truly doing a good job, even tho things are getting worse. How much worse we can't even imagine. I would not have imagined what is in this book, in America.  AND it is only 76 cents plus postage on Amazon.com.

 3. Janice:  We are all in transition
 Re: Brit-Am Now no. 1104

Ephraim Where, Who, Is He - Why won't people listen and understand.

Since 1996; it has been my observation that only the Spirit of G-d draws people to the message, to their roots and heritage.  Who can raise dead bones from the dead?  Me?  You?  Only the One Who Created Life can Recreate/Resurrect.

We are all in various stages of  transition and moving towards the goal.  We have families, friends to live the life in front of; that they may ask the questions.  Be ready to have an answer.  Pray, thank Him mightly, daily, live in His presence.  Those who really want to know will find you.  Don't worry about the numbers, only The Almighty, takes the census. Just like each one of us had a certain time, place, and people we were born to; so likewise the spiritual renewal for each one.

Be at peace with your El and man as much as it is in our power.

Warm Regards
Ms. Jan

5. Brit-Am and Judah
Brit-Am reaches out to Judah constantly but at a low key level.
We have some successes and gain insights but as far as Judah is concerned we do not push hard.
Some take the approach that the earth should be burning under our feet and What are we waiting for?
Our reply is that we do what we can where we can and where it is MOST needed at the time.
We believe that we shall be capable of reaching Judah on a large scale if and when we receive the means and the time is propitious.
Our impression is that we will be able to do this better than any other element at present in the field.
