1.Greg Sparks: Info on St. Patrick of Ireland
Shalom Mr. Davidiy and staff,

I've been cleaning out my bookshelves and ran across some material I had collected in Ireland while researching my family history. I have not read this material for some years and ran across a copy of St. Patrick's confession. I had not studied his confession in detail and the first paragraph really opened my eyes.  I'm sure you or your readers have already discussed this at some point but will send anyway just in case it has not.

## I, Patrick, a sinner, a most simple countryman, the least of all the faithful and most contemptible to many, had for father the deacon Calpurnius, son of the late Potitus, a presbyter, of the settlement of Bannaven Taburniae; he had a small villa nearby where I was taken captive. I was at that time about sixteen years of age. I did not, indeed, know the true God; and I was taken into captivity in Ireland with many thousands of people, according to our deserts, for quite drawn away from God, we did not keep his precepts, nor were we obedient to our presbyters who used to remind us of our salvation. And the Lord brought down on us the fury of his being and scattered us among many nations, even to the ends of the earth, where I, in my smallness, am now to be found among foreigners. ##

Many of the Irish monks were still observing the Jewish festivals according to the Hebrew calendar, in particular the festival of Passover,  until one of the Popes in Rome wanted all Christianity under one calendar to observe the Roman pagan custom of Easter. The monks refused and were later "reduced in number".

All the ancient churches and ruins I observed had windows facing East following the architecture of ancient synagogues where the ark is placed in the eastern wall.

Humbling oneself and digging for Truth has its rewards.

2. Rashi on Psalms 87: The Almighty Will Redeem the Assimilated and Lost Descendants of Israel
Interesting addition to the Brit-Am Commentary on Psalm 87.
[Source pointed out to us by Rabbi Yehonatan (son of Yair) Davidy.]
http://britam.org/psalms/psalms87.html
[Psalms 87:6] THE LORD SHALL COUNT, WHEN HE WRITETH UP THE PEOPLE, THAT THIS MAN WAS BORN THERE. SELAH.
Commentary of Rashi (France, 1040 -1105 CE):
##...In the future when God records the punishments to be meted out to the idolaters, HE will then register those of Israel who have been swallowed up amongst them and those who were forced to join them. He will bring them out and say, These were descended from the inhabitants of Zion. He will choose them for Himself as Isaiah says:  AND I WILL ALSO TAKE OF THEM FOR PRIESTS [Hebrew: "Cohenim"] AND FOR LEVITES [Isaiah 66:21]. From out of the Gentiles who will bring them forth as offerings I will take those [of Israelite descent] who were assimilated amongst them. These will include Cohens [i.e. Priests] and Levites. They are not foreigners. Before ME their identity is revealed, says the Almighty.
And where does the Almighty say it?
THE SECRET THINGS BELONG UNTO THE LORD OUR GOD [Deuteronomy 29:29].

3. Shelagh McKenna:  Prydain and Britain
Re: Article 1 of Brit-Am Now no. 1394
http://britam.org/now/1394Now.html#Derryl
Hello Derryl,

Regarding Prydain (spelled Prydein in medieval texts), I mean the island we call Britain. The big one that looks disconcertingly like Bill the cat. The name is in standard Welsh dictionaries as the Welsh name for Britain, though it is entirely possible that not all of that vastly multicultural island was originally meant, but instead the land occupied by a specific ethnic group. You may be interested in a map at
http://63.249.123.11/neu/celt/fab/img/map.jpg
which accompanies an online text of William F. Skene s Four Ancient Books of Wales. I don t have a copy of the book myself so I dont know whether the map is actually part of the volume.

Regarding Prydyn, I m not surprised that the people you consulted had never heard the name. I doubt that it is much used in Wales. The Armes Prydein (Prophecy of Britain) in the Book of Taliesin mentions the Cymry (Welsh) and the men of Dublin, the Gwyddyl (Gaels, since there were others) of Iwerdon (Ireland), Mona (Man or Anglesey), and Prydyn, Cornwall and Clydemen their compact with them . And on pp. 10 of The Cambro-Briton, Vol. III, John Humffreys Parry mentions that Prydyn is the north of Britain. Caw o Prydyn is a character in Culhwch and Olwen, a Mabinogi story which takes place in the north. Perhaps the name refers to the lands of the Britons who lived in that multiethnic country which we call Scotland.

Shelagh McKenna

4. Paul Boyd-Lee BT: Angles and Angels
From: Paul Boyd-Lee BT <pbl2@btinternet.com>
Re Brit-Am Now no. 1394 Angles & Saxons

Dear Yair,
You will of course be aware that names in relation to peoples and nations can have several facets. Whichever facet one chooses, it fits the people that it names. That perhaps shows the glory of our Creator in His foreknowledge of what name will be used at a later date. As for Angles, etymologically it can be written Angels and indeed that is what some literature uses for these migrants to the British Isles. In any case, whichever way it is spelt both may be pronounced the same way. As your answer states it can also be taken to be a geometric angle which marks the fact that they came from a land of that shape. The second facet is that 'Angel' translates as 'Messenger'. Is that not the biblical meaning of the word? Hence, in a prophetic sense it describes the coming of a people who carried the message of God with them. If they did not have it with them at the time, their forefathers certain had it, and so would their descendants in time to come;...
You might have noticed my article in the Bible Truth magazine some months back showing how the recently erected statue entitled 'Angel of the North', was the most popular sculpture of recent times. Perhaps  this is another example of man's folly being shown to proclaim God's glory.
Very best regards to you from,
Paul Boyd-Lee, Hon. Secretary BIBTF, UK

6. Direct descendant of Tamar Tephi?
re
http://britam.org/now/1394Now.html#Milesian

This is exciting to read. Especially being a direct descendant of Tamar Tephi, daughter of King Zedekiah. I have the Book of Tephi and it is a wonderful read. Wonderful! So from the link http://www.ogmium.com/clannamile/index.html I can really assume I am truly a descendant of David and Solomon?

Brit-Am Reply:
Shalom,
We give references to different URLs that are of interest to us or that may be to our subscribers.
We do not necessarily agree with the content matter. In our field of study a lot of different opinions exist and many varying approaches. We consider it good to be familiar with all of them but to be very reserved about accepting their conclusions.
[They may well have the same attitude towards us and we accept this.]
The URL
 http://www.ogmium.com/clannamile/index.html
is authored by someone who has his own understanding of historical reality. In many circles he would be considered an over-enthusiastic eccentric. [Again people may say the same about us but we consider ourselves somewhat different.]
Nevertheless, he gives the impression of otherwise being highly intelligent and of having indeed done a respectable amount of research.
He has read the Irish Mythological material and he gives a summary of it.
That in our eyes is the main value of his site. In addition he has also done DNA research and some of his insights may be worthy of further examination. [For all we know he could in his own way have initiated an informational breakthrough or he could be gravely mistaken.]

Note he points out that,

##the reference to the crossing of the Red Sea inferred an unsaid connection to the Israelites.###

##The Lebor Gabala recites two poems detailing the events of that time. The second of these it reports the words of the poet Roigne Roscadach
...It said:

O noble son of Ugaine,
How does one arrive at knowledge of Ireland,
The conquest of its company?
Before they overflowed Scythia
They reached the host-king of
Shinar;

They approached Egypt,
Where
Cingeris
was extinguished,
So that a great troop was destroyed,
Who died in the Red Sea.

They flowed through a space very faithful,
With Pharaoh fought;
Niul contracts with Scota,
The conception of our fathers.

##The people who sat in power in Ireland were now called the Tuatha De. The strict translation of this is the same as previously, "the people of the Lord" ##?

Many of the names in Irish Mythology are similar to Hebrew names.

As for Tea Tephi, we doubt that she ever existed.
We have dealt with this subject elsewhere on several occasion in replies to queries.
The importance of the myth of Tea Tephi in our mind lies in its existence and in the great popularity it has enjoyed.
People want to believe that there was such a person.
One of our supporters once suggested that a book or movie should be made based on her character.

The Book of Tephi is probably a forgery.

You cannot really assume that you are a descendant of David and Solomon though for all we know you may be.

HaShem be with you

7. Proverbs 4 (New King James Version)

 1 Hear, my children, the instruction of a father,
      And give attention to know understanding;
       2 For I give you good doctrine:
      Do not forsake my law.
       3 When I was my father?s son,
      Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother,
       4 He also taught me, and said to me:

      "Let your heart retain my words;
      Keep my commands, and live.
       5 Get wisdom! Get understanding!
      Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
       6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you;
      Love her, and she will keep you.
       7 Wisdom is the principal thing;
      Therefore get wisdom.
      And in all your getting, get understanding.
       8 Exalt her, and she will promote you;
      She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.
       9 She will place on your head an ornament of grace;
      A crown of glory she will deliver to you.?
       10 Hear, my son, and receive my sayings,
      And the years of your life will be many.
       11 I have taught you in the way of wisdom;
      I have led you in right paths.
       12 When you walk, your steps will not be hindered,
      And when you run, you will not stumble.
       13 Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go;
      Keep her, for she is your life.
       14 Do not enter the path of the wicked,
      And do not walk in the way of evil.
       15 Avoid it, do not travel on it;
      Turn away from it and pass on.
       16 For they do not sleep unless they have done evil;
      And their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall.
       17 For they eat the bread of wickedness,
      And drink the wine of violence.
       18 But the path of the just is like the shining light,
      That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.
       19 The way of the wicked is like darkness;
      They do not know what makes them stumble.
       20 My son, give attention to my words;
      Incline your ear to my sayings.
       21 Do not let them depart from your eyes;
      Keep them in the midst of your heart;
       22 For they are life to those who find them,
      And health to all their flesh.
       23 Keep your heart with all diligence,
      For out of it spring the issues of life.
       24 Put away from you a deceitful mouth,
      And put perverse lips far from you.
       25 Let your eyes look straight ahead,
      And your eyelids look right before you.
       26 Ponder the path of your feet,
      And let all your ways be established.
       27 Do not turn to the right or the left;
      Remove your foot from evil.
