"Brit-Am Now"-540: Why the Mystery?
Subject: Why the Mystery?
Yair, do you have any insight or knowledge from the sages why the Bible does not explicitly and straight forwardly say where Israel would be located in our present time. Why the mystery? I know the Bible in a round about way does tell us where the Tribes are. However you have to unlock some doors and familiarise yourself with some History, Hebrew Language, Geography Judaism and Jewish writings and keep these five elements in the back of your head while you read the Bible then you unlock the mystery of the lost tribes and the truth is plain to see for the logical mind. Maybe, which is probably the truth is that only Hashem knows why the mystery. However I'm cashing in some of my chips on your vast amount of knowledge and seeing if you ever came across something that might answer my question.
I have not got much to answer on this question but we can both indulge in some speculation
that may give an insight.
It was prophesied that Northern Israel would be "utterly taken away" (Hosea 1:6) and lost
but Judah would remain.
Judah would not recognize or know of the Lost Ten Tribes or their identity.
Judah would feel alone and abandoned (Isaiah 49:13-14)
[Isaiah 49:13] SING, O HEAVENS; AND BE JOYFUL, O EARTH; AND BREAK FORTH INTO SINGING, O MOUNTAINS: FOR THE LORD HATH COMFORTED HIS PEOPLE, AND WILL HAVE MERCY UPON HIS AFFLICTED.
[Isaiah 49:14] BUT ZION SAID, THE LORD HATH FORSAKEN ME, AND MY LORD HATH FORGOTTEN ME.
When the Lost Ten Tribes return Judah will find it difficult to accept:
Isaiah 49:21 describes Judah as being initially loath to accept the Lost Tribes and as having suffered alone and been persecuted and exiled from place to place all alone.
[Isaiah 49:21] THEN SHALT THOU SAY IN THINE HEART, WHO HATH BEGOTTEN ME THESE, SEEING I HAVE LOST MY CHILDREN, AND AM DESOLATE, A CAPTIVE, AND REMOVING TO AND FRO? AND WHO HATH BROUGHT UP THESE? BEHOLD, I WAS LEFT ALONE; THESE, WHERE HAD THEY BEEN?
This description fits the Jews of today and no-one else.
Why Was This?
(a) Since proof concerning the present day identity of the Lost Ten Tribes
requires both secular and Biblical confirmation the RETURN must be
accompanied by a return to the Bible.
(b) Since Judah is KNOWN then the return must be accompanied by an
acknowledgment of the righteousness of Judah:
[Genesis 49:8] JUDAH, THOU ART HE WHOM THY BRETHREN SHALL PRAISE: THY HAND SHALL BE IN THE NECK OF THINE ENEMIES; THY FATHER'S CHILDREN SHALL BOW DOWN BEFORE THEE.
In the last days the righteousness of the faith of Judah will be acknowledged:
"In those days ten men out of all the languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you" (Zechariah 8;23).
Before he died Israel blessed his sons. He said unto Judah "Yehudah Atah Yoduchah Acheecha" (In Genesis 49:9)
This is translated in the KJ as "Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise..." but actually in Hebrew the verse says: "Yehudah, you are he whom your brothers shall acknowledge the righteousness of": The key word "Yoducha" [translated in the KJ as "shall praise] means "acknowledge the righteousness of" i.e. the brothers of Judah, the other tribes, the tribes that went into exile and lost their identity, that did not keep the law are destined to acknowledge that Judah had been in the right.
We cannot say exactly what
"acknowledge the righteousness of"
might mean but it is certain that no form of
anti-Jewish approach can be contemplated. This otherwise might not be so.
In other words someone who has lost and then regained their identity
NEEDS the acknowledgement of those who have NOT lost it.
Divine Providence had reasons for this.
The CORRECT identity of the Lost Ten Tribes DEPENDS upon Scripture.
Nevertheless we also need secular support to conform the Biblical indications
and explain the background.
I sometimes send something out to some historical-studies forum or other.
The sources I referred to are usually all secular and reactions are mixed.
Some seemed to accept the possibility that Brit-Am may be on a justifiable path.
Nevertheless, the following comment is typical of
the general reserved attitude:
" Capelli's yDNA (paternal lineage) Census of the British Isles
... didn't find anything other than the Basque
markers which are typical of the indigenous population along with...
."...... Given that Dept of Genetic Anthropology at University College London
(Capelli study) is headed by David Goldstein who has secured funding
from the State of Israel for some of these studies, I'm sure we would
have heard about it had there been any link."
i.e. DNA claims at present do not justify the Brit-Am scenario therefore any
archaeological and historical possibilities (raised by Brit-Am) may be dismissed.
Brit-Am has information that DNA studies will ultimately be shown to confirm
Brit-Am beliefs. For the moment we are engaged in some research of our own
on the subject simply by trying to correlate new findings available in the public domain.
At all events RESEARCH IS VERY IMPORTANT at all levels.
The Prophet Jeremiah said as much.
[Jeremiah 31:21] SET THEE UP WAYMARKS, MAKE THEE HIGH HEAPS: SET THINE HEART TOWARD THE HIGHWAY, EVEN THE WAY WHICH THOU WENTEST: TURN AGAIN, O VIRGIN OF ISRAEL, TURN AGAIN TO THESE THY CITIES.
Abarbanel: "The prophet therefore spoke concerning the Kingdom of Israel [of the Ten Tribes] SET THEE UP WAYMARKS saying that when you go into Exile make signs by the routes and waymarks like piles of rocks [i.e. cairns] or stone monuments [Hebrew: Matzavah, i.e. dolmen] so that you may set your heart to the route and remember in order that you may return in the way you went in, return to your city."
The "WAYMARKS" the Prophet is referring to were megalithic monuments.
The most literal explanation of this verse amongst the Classical Authoritative Rabbinical Commentators is that given by the "Radak" (Rabbi David Kimchi, 1157-1236) of Narbonne, France. The Radak says:
"SET YOURSELF UP WAYMARKS" (Jeremiah 31): This was directed to the Community of Israel, that in the generation when they would be exiled they should set up waymarks [i.e. "tsionim"] such as PILED-UP STONES OR STONE MONUMENTS. The purpose of these monuments was to mark the paths [of migration for the sake of future recognition]. The meaning was to say that even though you will be exiled, hope is not lost and you are still destined to return to these your cities. "MAKE YOURSELF HIGH HEAPS" [Hebrew: "tamrurim"]. The same message is repeated though the wording is changed since both "tamrurim" [i.e. "high heaps"] and "tsionim" (i.e. "waymarks") connote elevated-height [from the root "tamar"]...
Bearing in mind that according to the previous verse (31;20) Jeremiah is addressing himself to Ephraim, the verse in Jeremiah 31;21 may therefore be understood to say:
"Set yourself up stone monuments [menhirs, dolmens] and high heaps of stones [cairns] [i.e. "Megalithic" monuments!]. Set your heart towards the prepared way: The way in which you went. Turn back o virgin of Israel, return unto these cities of yours.
Literally the physical trail of Monuments (archaeology) is to checked out in order to show Ephraim the way back, i.e.
to confirm his Brit-Am Origin. This principle applies not only to the specific pathway left by those who set up
the monuments but also to physical proof in general.
Some people once they become convinced of their Brit-Am type "Ephraim"
origin seem to take the attitude that they do not need Judah or secular evidence.
This is a mistake.
See what we wrote in our "Two Houses" article.
An analogy may be found in the case of Evolution.
People who believe in the Bible do not really care about the Theory of Evolution.
Most of us do not believe it and even if there was something in it we know
that once properly understand it could not contradict the Hebrew Bible.
There are Rabbis (e.g. Rabbi Avigdor Miller) and Jewish scientists
(e.g. Spetner) as well as numerous Christian academics and writers (some of very high standard)
who have adduced numerous proofs showing that evolution is
impossible. [There do however exist inbuilt mechanisms
for animal forms to adapt themselves within limits to a changing environment].
Evolution however remains the academic norm mainly because it justifies a certain
philosophy of life that on a superficial level seems to eliminate the need for
The whole "scientific" God-denying edifice is based on weak foundations. It only needs
a small blow it overturn this evil structure.
Proof of Brit-Am beliefs could be this tool.
We do not need to absolutely prove everything
only to succeed to have the already existing proofs acknowledged widely as feasible.
Brit-Am therefore becomes more than a school of though concentrating on one aspect of
Brit-Am can be understood as the basis for a Revolutionary Movement on behalf of the Good
against that which is not good.
Summary: It may be that the reason the Ten Tribes were "Lost" and now need to have their present
whereabouts and origin proved was in order to bring about a renewed awareness of their ancestry
that would be accompanied by a Renewed belief in the Bible and an acknowledgement of their brother, Judah.
The secular implications of these studies could also bring about an academic acknowledgement
of Divine Providence and Biblical Truth. Brit-Am may be the key to survival.
Brit-Am deserves your support and needs your participation.
Spreading the Brit-Am message is our task.
