1. Steve Coneglan: Dan and the 'Dont Tread on Me' Flag
From: Steve Coneglan <swaggerz@hotmail.com>
Subject: Symbol of Dan in USA

Dear Yair,

On May 22, 2002, the U.S. Navy ordered all ships to display the First Navy Jack during the War on Terrorism. This flag is the famous 'Dont Tread on Me' ensign, depicting a rattlesnake on a field of alternating red and white stripes.

From the blessing pronounced by Jacob, we learn that one of Dan's symbols was a snake (Genesis 49:17). Interestingly, the noun in this very passage translated as 'way' in English - Hebrew 'derek', from whence comes the English words 'track' and, indeed, 'dragon' - comes from the verb form 'darak', meaning 'to tread on'.

If we briefly follow the tribal history of Dan in the Book of Judges, we gain greater insight into the meaning and origins of the First Navy Jack. At Judges 5:17, Deborah bemoans the tribe of Dan remaining in their ships. Clearly, the tribe of Dan engaged in maritime pursuits. Later, at Judges 18, the militaristic character of the tribe of Dan is portrayed in their seizing of the town of Laish.

Combining these two tribal attributes of Dan from the Book of Judges, we have a maritime tribe capable of swift military force. Known to have had the serpent as a tribal emblem, we see a remarkable parallel today in the First Navy Jack being flown by the U.S. Navy in the War on Terrorism, perhaps as a waymark of the tribe of Dan.

2. Inheritance of the Blessings
The Israelites were to be distinguished from all other peoples.
The Israelites had been blessed.
Certain aspects of the Blessings were more applicable to the Lost Ten Tribes.
We may therefore use these blessings as they have come into effect in the world today in order to identify which group of peoples is descended from the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel.

The blessings were to pass from Abraham to Isaac to Jacob and from
Jacob to his twelve sons with Joseph receiving an extra portion of the blessings
and passing them on to his two sons Ephraim and Manasseh.
As the blessings passed from one generation to another they were strengthened and clarified in detail.

The first to be blessed was Abraham.
Abraham was promised to become,
"A great nation and in you will all the families of the earth be blessed" (Genesis 12:2-3).

"And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly" (Genesis 17:2).

"I will make nations of thee and kings shall come out of thee;
And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and t
hy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, t
o be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee" (Genesis 17:6-7).
Abraham begat Ishmael and Isaac.
Ishmael traditionally was the forefather of many of the Arabs.
Ishmael received a blessing of his own but he was not considered the inheritor of Abraham.

The Almighty promised that Isaac would inherit the blessings from Abraham:
"My covenant will I establish with Isaac" (Genesis 17:21);

"I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him" (Genesis 17:19).

God informed Abraham,
"In Isaac shall thy seed be called" (Genesis 21:21).

Isaac begat the twins Esau and Jacob.
Jacob was destined to inherit the blessings.
Of Esau it was foretold, "By thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother" (Genesis 27:40).
Esau became ancestor to the founder settlers of early Rome and to part of the German people (Megilla 6:b|),
as well as to part of the ruling elite in Continental Europe.
Esau was also known as "Edom".
"Edom" means "Red".
Esau did not inherit the blessings.
Jacob did.
"And Esau hated Jacob because of the Blessing where with his father blessed him" (Genesis 27:41).

Jacob received the Blessings promised to Abraham and to Isaac.
The Children of Jacob were to become the Chosen People.
Isaac blessed Jacob,
"God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful and multiply thee,
that thou mayest be a multitude of people;
And give thee the blessing of ABRAHAM, to thee and to thy seed with thee" (Genesis 28:2-3).
Jacob was given the additional name ISRAEL,
"Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, But ISRAEL;
for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men and hast prevailed" (Genesis 32:8).

"Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob,
but Israel shall be thy name: and He called his name ISRAEL" (Genesis 35:10).

Jacob (Israel) had Twelve Sons, "Now the sons of Jacob were twelve" (Genesis 36:22).
All the Sons of Jacob were blessed and were ancestors of the Chosen People.
The right of the firstborn however passed to Joseph.
The TWELVE SONS OF ISRAEL were
Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulon, Joseph, Benjamin, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
All the Tribes of Israel received their own Blessing,
"Everyone according to his blessing he blessed them" (Genesis 49:28).
Out of all the Tribes Joseph was especially chosen:
"The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of
my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of JOSEPH, and on the crown of him that was separated from his brethren" (Genesis 49:6).
Even though Joseph received the birthright each of the other Tribes received their own blessing and participated in the blessings to the Patriarchs. The difference was that Joseph received a blessing beyond that promised to the forefathers Abraham and Isaac. Joseph received an additional blessing that in the words of Jacob above, "prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors".
Joseph in Rabbinical understanding received a status equivalent to that of Jacob.
This is also implied by the simple meaning of Scripture.

Joseph had two sons, Ephraim and Menasseh. Both Ephraim and Menasseh received the status of full Tribes in their own right. Jacob said:
"THY TWO SONS, EPHRAIM AND MANASSEH ARE MINE; AS REUBEN AND SIMEON, THEY SHALL BE MINE" (Genesis 48:5) meaning that they should be counted as Tribes amongst the brothers of JOSEPH.
Jacob blessed Ephraim and Menasseh,
"The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth" (Genesis 48:16).
"And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Menasseh: and he set Ephraim before Menasseh" (Genesis 48:20).

Manasseh was to be identified more with Joseph in general|
whereas Ephraim was to be considered on his own.
The prevalence of Ephraim is repeated in Jeremiah (31:9), "I am a father to Israel, and EPHRAIM is my firstborn".
Nonetheless towards the end times (in our days) there was to be a stage in which Manasseh would be preeminent, as explained elsewhere.

The Promised Blessings were unconditional, "By myself hath I sworn, saith the LORD...that in Blessing I will bless thee and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed" (Genesis 28:15).
"God is not a man neither the son of man that he should repent...He hath blessed and I cannot reverse it" (Numbers 23:19-20).
The blessings include factors such as dwelling in the Best Places (Geographic Evidence), Civilizing the Nations, being the greatest Military Power, Ruling the Waves (the Joseph Element) and so on. In addition the blessings were to reveal themselves through Agricultural Plenty, Mineral Resources that are utilized, vast Numbers of People, and possessing all major international Strategic Thoroughfares or "gates" of their enemies. In this case as in all others each proof must be considered NOT ONLY on its own merits but also in light of all the other proofs as part of one comprehensive whole body of evidence.

As we mentioned above each of the other Tribes participated in the blessings of Abraham and Isaac and each received their own individuals promise from Jacob.
Judah especially is to be noticed:
JUDAH PREVAILED ABOVE HIS BRETHREN, AND OF HIM (COMES) THE CHIEF RULER; BUT THE BIRTHRIGHT WAS JOSEPH'S (1-Chronicles 5:1-2).

3. Brit-Am Call for your Help.
This is Probably our last posting before Pesach.
We hope to return with renewed energies. With the help of our
friends and subscribers we intend to strengthen what we have began.
Offerings and purchases have declined drastically of late even though
general interest in our message has greatly increased.
Yair Davidiy is in effect now helping to subsidize Brit-Am from his own
pocket. This is fair enough since everybody should do what they can.
Nevertheless it may be neither feasible nor possible to continue
in this way.
Just as we do what we can so should others.
Please help Brit-Am.
