Subject: [origin of nations] The Identity of Finland by Rainer Salomaa & Allan

The paper 'The Identity of Finland' by Rainer Salomaa & Allan Reipas is now
available online at www.originofnations.org.
Happy reading,

Craig
Brit-Am Comment: I read the paper and recommend it  as background material
on the subject of Finland. Craig White is to be commended for his selfless
and successful
efforts to promote his message which in most respects is very similar to
our own.

Answers:
1. The significance of who stood on which side when the blessings and
curses were uttered is explained in the Bible study we did on the subject
and which is repeated at the end of this answer.
You will see that the so-called "curse" aspect was fulfilled in the
completeness of the exile
of the Ten Tribes. Very few of those who stood on the curse side returned
to Judah and the Land of Israel
in Biblical times whereas some of those who stood on the other side did
return and are now represented
as within present day Judah.
This exile of all the Ten Tribes will end as we have repeated over and over
in line with all the Prophets and with
traditional Jewish belief and legal declarations. There will be a
reconciliation and re-unification between
Judah and ALL ISRAEL.

2. Regarding your religious needs. We are not qualified in this area and it
is not our calling to direct others in this region. We are still feeling
our own way. The solution we have found for ourselves is not necessarily
that destined
at this stage for others. You must search for the truth, pray, and follow
the Bible.
I would say in general that The best solution is that in which your
community or at least those around you can ultimately participate but there
are exceptions.  God helps and guides all those who turn to Him.

All mankind need to return to God not just Israelites. Those who are of
Jewish or Israelite descent
have a special obligation in this generation to clarify their Hebrew roots
and to do as well as they can.

[Micah 6:8] HE HATH SHEWED THEE, O MAN, WHAT IS GOOD; AND WHAT DOTH THE
LORD REQUIRE OF THEE, BUT TO DO JUSTLY, AND TO LOVE MERCY, AND TO WALK
HUMBLY WITH THY GOD?

You, me, and all of us who are pulled to the Brit-Am message have a common mission that we need to clarify.

There follows a study of the relevant passage regarding the blessings based
on Commentaries we came across::

[Deuteronomy 27:11] AND MOSES CHARGED THE PEOPLE THE SAME DAY, SAYING,

[Deuteronomy 27:12] THESE SHALL STAND UPON MOUNT GERIZIM TO BLESS THE
PEOPLE, WHEN YE ARE COME OVER JORDAN; SIMEON, AND LEVI, AND JUDAH, AND
ISSACHAR, AND JOSEPH, AND BENJAMIN:

Half the tribes stood on the side of one mountain and half of
the tribes stood on the side of another mountain, facing the others. The
ark of the Covenant with the priests and some of the Levites, stood in a
valley between them.

[Deuteronomy 27:13] AND THESE SHALL STAND UPON MOUNT EBAL TO CURSE; REUBEN,
GAD, AND ASHER, AND ZEBULUN, DAN, AND NAPHTALI.

Most of those who stood on Mount Ebal (of the curse) were
thoroughly lost when the northern ten tribes were exiled. Zebulon was the
exception. A relatively small number of religiously aroused individuals
from Zebulon did move to Judah. Of those who stood on Mount Gerizim (of the
blessing), Simeon, Levi, Judah, and Benjamin mostly belonged to the kingdom
of Judah.  In addition a not insignificant minority of refugees from Joseph
and Issachar had also been assimilated amongst Judah: Concerning Asa the
king of Judah, it says that many from the north came to him for religious
reasons: They came from Ephraim and Manasseh (i.e. Joseph) and joined those
from Judah, Benjamin, and Simeon who were with King Asa.

<AND WHEN ASA HEARD THESE WORDS, AND THE PROPHECY OF ODED THE PROPHET, HE
TOOK COURAGE, AND PUT AWAY THE ABOMINABLE IDOLS OUT OF ALL THE LAND OF
JUDAH AND BENJAMIN, AND OUT OF THE CITIES WHICH HE HAD TAKEN FROM MOUNT
EPHRAIM, AND RENEWED THE ALTAR OF THE LORD, THAT WAS BEFORE THE PORCH OF
THE LORD.

<AND HE GATHERED ALL JUDAH AND BENJAMIN, AND THE STRANGERS WITH THEM OUT OF
EPHRAIM AND MANASSEH, AND OUT OF SIMEON: FOR THEY FELL TO HIM OUT OF ISRAEL
IN ABUNDANCE, WHEN THEY SAW THAT THE LORD HIS GOD WAS WITH HIM>
[2-Chronicles 15:8-9].

The above says that many refugees for religious reasons fled
to King Asa of Judah from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon. Simeon was in some
way considered part of the northern tribes even though Simeon was in the
south. This is what Biblical passages indicate. It receives support from
recent archaeological findings from the area of Simeon that show allegiance
to the Northern Kingdom and cultural practices from the north.

Regarding refugees from the northern tribes who remained with
Judah (= the Jews), Scripture says that in the time of Hezekiah people from
Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulon came up to Jerusalem to sacrifice.

<FOR A MULTITUDE OF THE PEOPLE, EVEN MANY OF EPHRAIM, AND
MANASSEH,   ISSACHAR, AND ZEBULUN, HAD NOT CLEANSED THEMSELVES, YET DID
THEY EAT THE PASSOVER  OTHERWISE THAN IT WAS WRITTEN. BUT HEZEKIAH PRAYED
FOR THEM, SAYING, THE GOOD LORD PARDON EVERY ONE

< THAT PREPARETH HIS HEART TO SEEK GOD, THE LORD GOD OF HIS
FATHERS,  THOUGH HE BE NOT CLEANSED ACCORDING TO THE PURIFICATION OF THE
SANCTUARY.

<AND THE LORD HEARKENED TO HEZEKIAH, AND HEALED THE PEOPLE> [2-Chronicles
30:18-20].

Previous to this, Hezekiah had sent posts throughout the land
asking remnants of the Northern Tribes to come up to Jerusalem:

<SO THE POSTS PASSED FROM CITY TO CITY THROUGH THE COUNTRY OF EPHRAIM AND
MANASSEH EVEN UNTO ZEBULUN: BUT THEY LAUGHED THEM TO SCORN, AND MOCKED
THEM.

<NEVERTHELESS DIVERS OF ASHER AND MANASSEH AND OF ZEBULUN HUMBLED
THEMSELVES, AND CAME TO JERUSALEM> [2-Chronicles 30:10-11].

This happened at the beginning of the reign of
Hezekiah [2-Chronicles 29:1]. Most of the northern tribes had already been
exiled by the Assyrians. A remnant remained. Most of this remnant was
destined, about five years later (2-Kings 18:10) to also be taken into
exile. We know, however,  from archaeology that some escaped to Jerusalem.
It may be that many out of the few that escaped belonged to those who
feared God. Nachmanides (in The Book of Redemption) points out that where
in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah it lists the exiles who returned from
Babylon, only people from the tribes of Judah, Benjamin, and Levi are
mentioned. Comparing  the numbers given of those returning with the number
of names given we find a disparity of about twenty per cent whose names are
not mentioned. These according to tradition were people from the Lost Ten
Tribes who had joined up with the tribes associated with Judah. Their names
were not mentioned, says Nachmanides, since they formerly belonged to
Joseph though they had attached themselves to Judah and Biblically
henceforth were to be included as part of Judah.
A translation of the passage from Nachmanides is to be found on our web-site.

5. Amber:
Amber is  hardened tree sap mainly from pine trees (?).
Some times flies and other insects were trapped in the sap before it hardened
and can still be seen inside the semi-transparent stone.
Most amber comes from the Baltic sea-shores in Northern Europe though it
can also be found elsewhere. In ancient times amber was considered to be
more valuable than  gold.
Phoenician exploration of the northern shores of Europe could have been
partly in search of amber.

Some time ago we made the following note:

Phoenician Boats = Viking long ships?

Zevi Herman an Israeli authority on ancient shipping and author of a book
("Amin, Yamim, Oniot", written in 1962) describes Phoenician shipping.

Herman believed that the ancient Israelites were involved in Phoenician
sailing enterprises. He stated that Phoenician
ships reached Britain and Cornwall and possibly also the Baltic Sea in
northern Europe.

Herman said that the Phoenician small long range ship (known to the Greeks
as "Hyppo", i.e. the "horse") is in effect almost identical in both
structure and appearance with the later Viking longship of Scandinavia. The
"Hyppo" had the carved head of horse at the front and the tail of a fish at
the rear. He has illustrations proving his point showing the similarity
between Viking ships and Phoenician ones.

Herodotus writes in Book 3 of his Histories:
"...for I cannot accept the story of a river called by non-Greek peoples
the Eridanus, which flows into the northern sea, where amber is supposed
to come from.......Yet it cannot be disputed that tin and amber do come
to us from what one might call the ends of the earth........In any case
it does seem to be true that the countries which lie on the circumference
of the inhabited world produce the things which we believe to be most
rare and beautiful."

The Eridanus was a name applied to the Rhine River in Germany. The name
derives from the Hebrew "Yordan"
or "Jordan" which was understandable (says the Midrash)  as  meaning
"Yeridan" (and thus Eridanus) or "Yored-Dan"
since the Jordan begins at a spring on the site of Dan (also called Daphne)
and goes out (or "down") from there.

Amber is linked with the Tribe of Dan. Small quantities of amber occur
naturally at the site of Dan (Daphne)
in the Northern Galilee. Dan was also known as "Leshem". Leshem is said to
mean a precious stone that some
identify as amber. Leshem has been identified as the stone of Dan in
breastplate of the Chief Priest in the Temple service. Other
identifications have also been suggested. Amber is usually yellowish in
color whereas Leshem is often described as a very light blue. At all events
the possible associations between leshem, amber, Dan, Eridanus,
Jordan, etc may be worth looking into.

[Joshua 19:47] AND THE COAST OF THE CHILDREN OF DAN WENT OUT TOO LITTLE FOR
THEM:  THEREFORE THE CHILDREN OF DAN WENT UP TO FIGHT AGAINST LESHEM, AND
TOOK IT, AND SMOTE IT WITH THE EDGE OF THE SWORD, AND POSSESSED IT, AND
DWELT THEREIN, AND CALLED LESHEM, DAN, AFTER THE NAME OF DAN THEIR
FATHER.
