Why the Jews are Judah (Revised)
1. The Jews were persecuted by the
Gentiles as it had been prophesied Judah
would be: Zechariah 1:15-16, 8;13,
Isaiah ch.53, Psalm 44:22-25
Zechariah 1:15-16: God says He is displeased
with the Gentiles who
persecuted Judah more than had been
decried. Jerusalem shall be comforted.
Zechariah 8;13: In the same way as the
House of Judah and the
House of Israel was a curse amongst
the Gentiles so shall they become a
blessing and strengthened.
Isaiah ch.53: Isaiah speaks primarily
of Judah who was despised
and rejected. People hid their faces
from him and did not esteem him
(53:3). He bore the troubles of others
and was blamed for them. The
Gentiles thought he was cursed. Through
his suffering and Exile very often
the Gentiles received a blessing (53:5).
He was blamed for the faults of
the Gentiles (53:6,8). He was oppressed
and afflicted and went like a lamb
to the slaughter (53:7). He was associated
with, and forced to make his
lot, amongst both criminals and the
wealthy (53:9). God had His own reason
to persecute him and God will recompense
him (53:10). His truth will be
acknowledged and many shall be saved
through him (53:11-12). He will be
re-settled in his land (54:2), inherit
the Gentiles, and rebuilt his
desolate cities (54:3). The shame and
degradation of the early days will be
forgotten (54:4). The God of Israel
will redeem him and be acknowledged by
the whole earth (54:5). God will enable
the ingathering of his exiles
(54:7) and never again forsake him
(54:7-10). He will be given riches
(54:12) and his offspring looked after
by the Almighty (54:13). Never again
will he know oppression and terror
(54:13-14). Whoever comes against him
will be punished (54:15).
Psalm 44:22-25: They were counted as
sheep to the slaughter, oppressed and
afflicted.
2. The Jews kept the Law as it had been
prophesied that Judah would: Psalms
60:7, 108:8, Genesis 49:10, Zechariah
8: 23
[Psalms 60:7] GILEAD IS MINE, AND MANASSEH
IS MINE; EPHRAIM ALSO IS THE
STRENGTH OF MINE HEAD; JUDAH IS MY
LAWGIVER;
[Psalms 108:8] GILEAD IS MINE; MANASSEH
IS MINE; EPHRAIM ALSO IS THE
STRENGTH OF MINE HEAD; JUDAH IS MY
LAWGIVER;
Genesis 49:10: The scepter of authority
shall not depart from Judah. The
ability to declare the Law will always
be with him until the Time of the
Messiah arrives and he shall ingather
the exiles.
Zechariah 8:23: In the Last Days ten
men out of all the languages of the
nations shall take hold of the clothing
of whoever is a Jew. They shall say
we will go with you for we have heard
that God is with you.
3. The Jews keep the four fasts of mourning
(as prophesied by Zechariah
8:19) on the months indicated by the
Bible according to the Hebrew Calendar
i.e.
<<THUS SAITH THE LORD OF HOSTS;
THE FAST OF THE FOURTH MONTH, AND THE FAST
OF THE FIFTH, AND THE FAST OF THE SEVENTH,
AND THE FAST OF THE TENTH, SHALL
BE TO THE HOUSE OF JUDAH JOY AND GLADNESS,
AND CHEERFUL FEASTS; THEREFORE
LOVE THE TRUTH AND PEACE>> [Zechariah
8:19].
The fasts spoken of by Zechariah are
the four fasts that the Jews keep on
the months in question. The fasts are
all connected with the destruction of
the First and Second Temples:
THE FAST OF THE FOURTH MONTH, -17th
Tammuz
THE FAST OF THE FIFTH, - 9th of Av
AND THE FAST OF THE SEVENTH, - 3rd
of Tishrei (Gedaliah)
AND THE FAST OF THE TENTH, - 10th Tebeth
(Tevet).
In addition,
As Steven Collins points out(in the
following points 4,5,6,7) in the Last Days:
4. Zephaniah (2:1-7): The Jews will
come back to the Land and found a State
initially on the coast line ofPhilistine-"Palestine".
Zephaniah calls upon the Jewish nation
that was formerly despised
to gather itself together (2:1). If
they do not return disaster will come
upon them as happened inn the Second
World War (2:2). These events are a
sign for all the meek of the earth
to seek God and be righteous. Otherwise
they will be punished (2:3). Gaza,
Ashkelon, Ashdod, and Ekron will be
abandoned (2:4). Disaster will come
upon the Palestinian inhabitants of the
sea coast. The Palestinians are the
descendants of the Canaanites and the
Philistines (2:5). The remnant of Judah
will inherit the sea coast and the
captivity of Judah will come back (2:7).
Nearly all of these events mentioned
by Zephaniah were fulfilled
by the foundation of the State of Israel
in 1948 and the events surrounding
it. Some of the details have not yet
come to pass in full but we are still
in the process described by the Prophet.
5. According to Zechariah 14:14 Judah
also shall fight at Jerusalem. This
indicates that in the Last days Judah
will be dwelling in and near
Jerusalem and we are in the Last days
or close to them.
6. Genesis 49: Judah will be like a
young lion in the last days and like an
old lion. This fits the present State
of Israel with its ancient people
springing forth to defend themselves
like a lion.
7. In the Last Days Judah, as well as
being like a lion, will also merit
agricultural plenty (Genesis 49:8-12).
