Dear Yair,
I have finished reading the three books
Joseph, Ephraim and Lost Israelite
Idenity. I enjoyed them very much.
I especially liked Lost Israelite
Identity. As a History graduate and
History Teacher I enjoy the Historical
information and also the Mythogolical.
The Jewish and Talmudic insights are
also very interesting.Please keep me
informed of any further brit am
meetings. You are in my prayers.
Cheers Athol
3. The Message of King Hezekiah to the
Remnant of the Ten Tribes
[2-Chronicles 30:1] AND HEZEKIAH SENT
TO ALL ISRAEL AND JUDAH, AND WROTE
LETTERS ALSO TO EPHRAIM AND MANASSEH,
THAT THEY SHOULD COME TO THE HOUSE OF
THE LORD AT JERUSALEM, TO KEEP THE
PASSOVER UNTO THE LORD GOD OF
ISRAEL.
[2-Chronicles 30: FOR THE KING HAD TAKEN
COUNSEL, AND HIS PRINCES, AND ALL
THE CONGREGATION IN JERUSALEM, TO KEEP
THE PASSOVER IN THE SECOND MONTH.
[2-Chronicles 30:3] FOR THEY COULD NOT
KEEP IT AT THAT TIME, BECAUSE THE
PRIESTS HAD NOT SANCTIFIED THEMSELVES
SUFFICIENTLY, NEITHER HAD THE PEOPLE
GATHERED THEMSELVES TOGETHER TO JERUSALEM.
[2-Chronicles 30:4] AND THE THING PLEASED
THE KING AND ALL THE CONGREGATION.
[2-Chronicles 30:5] SO THEY ESTABLISHED
A DECREE TO MAKE PROCLAMATION
THROUGHOUT ALL ISRAEL, FROM BEERSHEBA
EVEN TO DAN,
THAT THEY SHOULD COME TO KEEP THE PASSOVER
UNTO THE LORD GOD OF ISRAEL AT
JERUSALEM: FOR THEY HAD NOT DONE IT
OF A LONG TIME IN SUCH SORT AS IT WAS
WRITTEN.
[2-Chronicles 30:6] SO THE POSTS WENT
WITH THE LETTERS FROM THE KING AND
HIS PRINCES THROUGHOUT ALL ISRAEL AND
JUDAH, AND ACCORDING TO THE
COMMANDMENT OF THE KING, SAYING, YE
CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, TURN AGAIN UNTO THE
LORD GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC, AND ISRAEL,
AND HE WILL RETURN TO THE
REMNANT OF YOU, THAT ARE ESCAPED OUT
OF THE HAND OF THE KINGS OF ASSYRIA.
[2-Chronicles 30:7] AND BE NOT YE LIKE
YOUR FATHERS, AND LIKE YOUR
BRETHREN, WHICH TRESPASSED AGAINST
THE LORD GOD OF THEIR FATHERS, WHO
THEREFORE GAVE THEM UP TO DESOLATION,
AS YE SEE.
[2-Chronicles 30:8] NOW BE YE NOT STIFFNECKED,
AS YOUR FATHERS WERE, BUT
YIELD YOURSELVES UNTO THE LORD, AND
ENTER INTO HIS SANCTUARY, WHICH HE HATH
SANCTIFIED FOR EVER: AND SERVE THE
LORD YOUR GOD, THAT THE FIERCENESS OF
HIS WRATH MAY TURN AWAY FROM YOU.
[2-Chronicles 30:9] FOR IF YE TURN AGAIN
UNTO THE LORD, YOUR BRETHREN AND
YOUR CHILDREN SHALL FIND COMPASSION
BEFORE THEM THAT LEAD THEM CAPTIVE, SO
THAT THEY SHALL COME AGAIN INTO THIS
LAND: FOR THE LORD YOUR GOD IS
GRACIOUS AND MERCIFUL, AND WILL NOT
TURN AWAY HIS FACE FROM YOU, IF
YE RETURN UNTO HIM.
[2-Chronicles 30:10] SO THE POSTS PASSED
FROM CITY TO CITY THROUGH THE
COUNTRY OF EPHRAIM AND MANASSEH EVEN
UNTO ZEBULUN: BUT THEY LAUGHED THEM TO
SCORN, AND MOCKED THEM.
[2-Chronicles 30:11] NEVERTHELESS DIVERS
OF ASHER AND MANASSEH AND OF
ZEBULUN HUMBLED THEMSELVES, AND CAME
TO JERUSALEM.
King Hezekiah sent to the remnant of
the Ten Tribes shortly before this
remnant was ALSO to be taken into captivity
by the Assyrians.
He thought there was a chance of averting
calamity and even of reversing
the tide of events. Apparently he was
right but the opportunity was missed.
The message of King Hezekiah concentrated
on a return to the religion.
The message of Brit-Am does not concentrate
on religion but rather on a
realization of identity and the spread
of this knowledge
as a first step before anything else.
The message of King Hezekiah was greeted
with mockery.
Is Brit-Am receiving the same reaction?
4. Anglo-Saxon Ring
From: "pucebody"
Subject: anglo-saxon new find
I dont know whether this find made
earlier this year has been
notified before.
A norfolk man discovered a ring in
his hedge clippings.His wife
thought it was out of a Xmas cracker.
It was revealed to be an Anglo-
Saxon plaited finger ring, 24 carat
gold, valued at £10,000.
(Radio Times 31 Aug-6Sept 2002 Page

Bearing in mind that I live close to
a well-known AS burial site, I
shall make a point of closely examining
my hedge clippings in future.

5. Cause of the Civil War by Robert
H. Graves
From: "Robert H. Graves" <rhg2@e...>
Subject: Ref: Brit-Am 82
Excerpts from Original Message:
Dear Yair,
You wrote, in part, in Brit-Am 82:
"The presence of Negro slaves in the
USA was the open cause of the Civil
War and helped crystallize the American
nation. American speech, attitudes,
culture, and ethnic composition have
also been influenced by the Negro
presence."
While I do not dispute the last sentence
of the quote I must take exception
with the first part of the first sentence
relative to the cause of the war.
It is regrettable that you did not
check fully the history of the War of
Northern Aggression. If you had you
would not have made such an
authoritative statement about the cause
of the War between the States.
The statement you made is obviously
your conclusion drawn from what you
have learned from the statements made
by those who do not know or
purposefully ignore the history of
that war. By making that statement you
have misled many of your readers into
a false knowledge of the cause of the
war. I wish to correct what you have
written and I hope you will give it
widest dissemination.
First, no less than an authority as
Thomas Sowell, a black historian and
economist, has written that the cause
of the war was not over slavery but
over economics.
President Lincoln was more worried
over the loss of revenue to the Central
government of the tariff imposed upon
the Southern states than he was about
the plight of the slaves in the South.
The upshot of his worry was that the
Southern States had declared their
ports (i.e. Mobile, New Orleans, Charleston,
Savannah, etc., "free ports;
that is, no tariffs or import duties
would be levied there). Their action
was in retaliation to the onerous tax
burden imposed upon them by the
Central government with the acquiescence
of the Northern States. At that
time the South's tax burden furnished
90% of the Federal revenues. All
Southern exports had to be shipped
to the northern states (ie., New York)
for export where an exorbitant fee
was levied and the machinery needed by
the Southern States was imported by
the Northern States and was sent to the
South at exorbitant prices. In effect,
the South's claim that they were
paying tribute to the North had solid
factual basis. (Ibid page 27.)
Second, it is a fallacy to say that President Lincoln opposed slavery.
Lincoln was for ending slavery, but
not by the call to arms that the
abolitionists were demanding...his
was a more moderate, sensible approach
and fully aware that introducing former
slaves into society in an
atmosphere conducive to their being
accepted and being capable of taking
care of themselves required moderation
and careful thought. The key to this
would be the slaves' former masters,
who now would become their employers.
Goodwill was necessary and like it
or not, just compensation as required by
the Constitution would be required
to achieve that end.
Third, it is a lie to believe that the
South defended itself against
Northern aggression over the issue
of slavery. The Southern States believed
and supported with the death of thousands
of dead and maimed that each
State had the right to secede from
the Union each of them had created.
They, like Locke, believed that when
a government fails to fulfill the
compact which created it then the people
have the right to withdraw from
it. That was (and is) the essence of
the Southern cause!
It was the view of the South that they
had the right under the Constitution
to leave the union whenever it failed
to fulfill its part of the compact
which they had agreed to. (Ibid pg
16.)
It is significant to note that the upon
the end of the war and the taking
prisoner of Jefferson Davis, President
of the Confederacy, the central
government held him in prison for two
years before he was released without
trial. Why didn't they try him for
treason? Simply for this reason: They
knew that his trial would put the issue
of the right of secession to the
test and it was the considered opinion
of legal experts that the central
government would lose because secession
was a matter of right for each
state if it so chose.
Thus you have a concise explanation
of the reason of the War of Northern
Aggression. Remember, it was not about
slavery as most would have you
believe. You are a scholar...study
it for yourself and do not succumb to
what you read in the papers or in the
slanted history books of the 1800s
and early 1900s. Remember it is axiomatic
that the "victors write the
history".
Be all this as it may, there is an
overriding purpose. The Sovereign God
had, in His predetermined councils,
decreed that this group of people would
coalesce to fulfill His purpose. We
need only to look at the 20th Century
and into the early part of this 21st
Century to see that purpose. The U.S.,
as a cohesive whole, prevailed in WWI,
WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, the Cold War,
etc., to emerge as the only Super Power
extant on the face of the Earth.
Was this a coincidence? Not likely.
Clearly, this combination of
nation-states, the U.S., has been given
the birth right promises made to
Manasseh. The U.S. has become the dominant
force in the world while Ephraim
has become much like a third world
country; that is, powerless without
their older brother Manasseh.
This nation of sovereign states, ie.,
the U.S., has become the instrument
of God in His great plan for the end
times. Just how this nation will
fulfill the role He has designed for
it is not known (unless He reveals it
to His prophets) but it is certain
this nation has been destined to support
and defend their brother Judah (Israel)
in his time of crises. Just how the
U.S. will fulfill its role in God's
great plan as the time for Messiah's
return approaches remains to be seen
but one thing is certain; God did not
give this nation His birthright promises
without having a plan in mind as
to what He expects this group of nations
to do. We just need to watch and
pray that we will do whatever He requires
of us...especially to protect,
defend and support our brothers of
Judah in Israel!
Sincerely
Robert H. Graves
