Psalms 113 [Psalms 113:1] PRAISE YE THE LORD. PRAISE, O YE SERVANTS OF THE LORD, PRAISE THE NAME OF THE LORD. The Mairi pints out the SERVANTS OF THE LORD meaning all who seek to do HIS will shuld especially praise God since they are the ones who will most immediately experience the blessings of Divine Providence. [Psalms 113:2] BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD FROM THIS TIME FORTH AND FOR EVERMORE. May God be always praised and may we and all the People of Israel always serve HIM so that we may praise HIM. [Psalms 113:3] FROM THE RISING OF THE SUN UNTO THE GOING DOWN OF THE SAME THE LORD'S NAME IS TO BE PRAISED. All over the earth all creation, all mankind, should find reason in their own lives and in what is around them in creation to praise the Almighty. [Psalms 113:4] THE LORD IS HIGH ABOVE ALL NATIONS, AND HIS GLORY ABOVE THE HEAVENS. God is beyond human grasp. HE is infinitely above us in the conceptual sense. Nevertheless for reasons of HIS own HE involves HIMSELF with us and wants us to worship HIM. [Psalms 113:5] WHO IS LIKE UNTO THE LORD OUR GOD, WHO DWELLETH ON HIGH, [Psalms 113:6] WHO HUMBLETH HIMSELF TO BEHOLD THE THINGS THAT ARE IN HEAVEN, AND IN THE EARTH! [Psalms 113:7] HE RAISETH UP THE POOR OUT OF THE DUST, AND LIFTETH THE NEEDY OUT OF THE DUNGHILL; God has mercy on everybody. We must never give up. The Almighty can help us out of the worse and most desperate situations. [Psalms 113:8] THAT HE MAY SET HIM WITH PRINCES, EVEN WITH THE PRINCES OF HIS PEOPLE. God can change the fate of ourselves and of others from one extreme to the other. He must believe in HIM. Even if HE elevates us to an enormous degree we should retain our humility and be aware of what we once were and to what we may be returned. Nebuchadnessar was possibly the most powerful monarch that ever lived. The Almighty turned Nebuchadnessar literally into a human beast on the same level as the animals for seven years and then returned him once again to rule over his kingdom (Daniel 4:18-37). See the Brit-Am Commentary To Daniel chapter four. [Psalms 113:9] HE MAKETH THE BARREN WOMAN TO KEEP HOUSE, AND TO BE A JOYFUL MOTHER OF CHILDREN. PRAISE YE THE LORD. God can make barren women fertile and bring the dead back to life. This may not be an everyday occurrence but documented cases do occur. Most of us, Thank God, do not have such problems. We have all been blessed to some degree or other and each of us also has their own problems. God can help us. This is obvious but we should go further than that. God wants to help us. We must learn to ask HIM. It happens that when we pray we feel that the Almighty is hearing us and we actually SEE the intervention of the Almighty in our life. It may be however that the one specific matter we requested help about remains unresolved. The Almighty has reasons of HIS own. We should keep praying and doing what we can and keep our eyes open. The Almighty helps us all the time. Most of the time we take it for granted or do not even notice it but Divine Providence in always there and is much stronger for those who make themselves (as far as they are able) servants of the Almighty.
