Psalms 120
A SONG OF DEGREES
[Psalms 120:1] IN MY DISTRESS I CRIED UNTO THE LORD, AND HE HEARD ME.
When I was in trouble I called unto God and HE answered me.
[Psalms 120:2] DELIVER MY SOUL, O LORD, FROM LYING LIPS, AND FROM A DECEITFUL TONGUE.
MY SOUL. Hebrew "nafshi" from the word "nefesh" meaning my psyche, my mind, my being.
Let me not be mislead by others, not caught up with people who lie, and let me not trap myself into the habit of not telling the truth.
[Psalms 120:3] WHAT SHALL BE GIVEN UNTO THEE? OR WHAT SHALL BE DONE UNTO THEE, THOU FALSE TONGUE?
False tales about others can cause great harm. What should be done unto someone who spreads false reports about others? What do they gain by it?
[Psalms 120:4] SHARP ARROWS OF THE MIGHTY, WITH COALS OF JUNIPER.
They deserve to be shot through with sharp arrows and tortured with heated embers of the slow-burning "rothem" tree. "Rotham" is translated as "juniper" is a kind of evergreen of the Cyprus family.
[Psalms 120:5] WOE IS ME, THAT I SOJOURN IN MESECH, THAT I DWELL IN THE TENTS OF KEDAR!
Meshech and Kedar represent the Christians and Muslims amongst whom the Jews sojourned and who persecuted the Jews and told terrible lies about them.
MESECH is Meshech son of Japhet. Here Meshech represents the European peoples amongst whom the Jews sojourned. Meshech gave his name to Moscow.
Kedar according to tradition here represents Ishmael i.e. the Muslims who for many centuries severely oppressed the Jewish People who dwelt amongst them.
This is pertinent to our time. This Psalm 120 deals with lies being spread about the Jewish People. The Russians (Meshech) produced the forgery known as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion which pretends the Jews are planning to take over the world. The Russian Secret Service first fabricated this hoax and today the Arabs (Kedar) are the ones most active in spreading it!
[Psalms 120:6] MY SOUL HATH LONG DWELT WITH HIM THAT HATETH PEACE.
I have lived amongst people who always antagonistic to me not only in the physical sense but also from the spiritual-psychological aspect. They hate everything about me and tell lies about me. They believe their own falsehoods out of choice. They want o believe in lies, slurs, and slanders about me.
[Psalms 120:7] I AM FOR PEACE: BUT WHEN I SPEAK, THEY ARE FOR WAR.
I want to dwell in peace with those around me but whenever I say anything they only want to fight against me. Anything I do or say is misinterpreted and twisted. Wherever I turn I meet antagonism.
