Psalms 46 Psalms 46 [Psalms 46:1] GOD IS OUR REFUGE AND STRENGTH, A VERY PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE.                        [Psalms 46:2] THEREFORE WILL NOT WE FEAR, THOUGH THE EARTH BE REMOVED, AND THOUGH THE  MOUNTAINS BE CARRIED INTO THE MIDST OF THE SEA;  The Mairi says that this will happen in the End Times when earthquakes and great calamities will occur but those who trust in God will be saved.                      [Psalms 46:3] THOUGH THE WATERS THEREOF ROAR AND BE TROUBLED, THOUGH THE MOUNTAINS SHAKE WITH THE SWELLING THEREOF. SELAH.                        [Psalms 46:4] THERE IS A RIVER, THE STREAMS WHEREOF SHALL MAKE GLAD THE CITY OF GOD, THE  HOLY PLACE OF THE TABERNACLES OF THE MOST HIGH.                        [Psalms 46:5] GOD IS IN THE MIDST OF HER; SHE SHALL NOT BE MOVED: GOD SHALL HELP HER, AND THAT RIGHT EARLY.                        [Psalms 46:6] THE HEATHEN RAGED, THE KINGDOMS WERE MOVED: HE UTTERED HIS VOICE, THE EARTH MELTED.  The heathen will come against Israel and be destroyed.                      [Psalms 46:7] THE LORD OF HOSTS IS WITH US; THE GOD OF JACOB IS OUR REFUGE. SELAH.                        [Psalms 46:8] COME, BEHOLD THE WORKS OF THE LORD, WHAT DESOLATIONS HE HATH MADE IN THE EARTH. The Radak says that this Psalm parallels Zechariah ch.14. Zechariah speaks of all nations coming against Jerusalem, of an initial partial captivity, God fighting against the Gentiles, many nations being destroyed, of  the Mount of Olives splitting in two,  o f  living waters coming out of Jerusalem,  of God ruling over the world in a tangible open manner. See the Brit-Am Commentary to The Book of Zechariah The attentive reader will have noticed that Brit-Am has a predilection for the Commentaries of Jewish Sages who lived in the Late Middle Ages-Early Renaissance period and usually in Mediterranean lands. These Sages more or less comprise a kind of "Sephardic" School characterized by a deep understanding of the Hebrew language, very high literary skills, broad knowledge, an open mind and rationality combined with strong faith.    [Psalms 46:9] HE MAKETH WARS TO CEASE UNTO THE END OF THE EARTH; HE BREAKETH THE BOW,  AND CUTTETH THE SPEAR IN SUNDER; HE BURNETH THE CHARIOT IN THE FIRE. In the Last days warfare will cease. Divine Intervention will bring peace on earth.                       [Psalms 46:10] BE STILL, AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD: I WILL BE EXALTED AMONG THE HEATHEN, I WILL BE EXALTED IN THE EARTH.                        [Psalms 46:11] THE LORD OF HOSTS IS WITH US; THE GOD OF JACOB IS OUR REFUGE.
