Psalms 92
A PSALM OR SONG FOR THE SABBATH DAY.
 
[Psalms 92:1] IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD, AND TO SING PRAISES UNTO THY NAME, O MOST HIGH:  
Giving thanks on the Sabbath Day according to HaMairi: "Indicates belief  in Creation out of nothing which in turn entails belief in Divine Providence from which comes belief in Reward and Punishment. One should already be aware that one of the main reasons for the giving of the Sabbath was to instill these beliefs within our hearts. It says IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD (on the Sabbath Day) because this is a time period that is fitting and suited to give thanks and to meditate on the greatness of God. This is a time when we have free time to meditate and to realize the glory of God and HIS wonders?".
 
[Psalms 92:2] TO SHEW FORTH THY LOVINGKINDNESS IN THE MORNING, AND THY FAITHFULNESS EVERY NIGHT,                     
 
[Psalms 92:3] UPON AN INSTRUMENT OF TEN STRINGS, AND UPON THE PSALTERY; UPON THE HARP  WITH A SOLEMN SOUND.
 PSALTERY: Hebrew "nevel" or NeBeL which as we (and others) have explained may well refer to the bagpipe.                   
 
[Psalms 92:4] FOR THOU, LORD, HAST MADE ME GLAD THROUGH THY WORK: I WILL TRIUMPH IN  THE WORKS OF THY HANDS. 
This Psalm was composed in honor of the Sabbath which day testifies to the Creation being   "THE WORKS OF THY HANDS".                  
 
[Psalms 92:5] O LORD, HOW GREAT ARE THY WORKS! AND THY THOUGHTS ARE VERY DEEP.                     
 
[Psalms 92:6] A BRUTISH MAN KNOWETH NOT; NEITHER DOTH A FOOL UNDERSTAND THIS.
People who have ulterior motives and wicked designs will deny the truth of Creation or simply not relate to it. They are foolish.                    
A BRUTISH MAN: Hebrew "
Ish [man] ba-ar [brutish]". The word translated as "brutish" in Hebrew is
"
ba-ar" as given here in adjectival form. As a noun it is pronounced as "BOR" and may be the source of the English word "boor".
S.R. Hirsch relates this word to the Hebrew "BAER" which gives us the English "bare" and means the same.  S.R. Hirsch says that "the foolish man is bare of reason".  Recognition of the Sabbath shows that we perceive a Power greater than us upon which everything else is ultimately dependent.
Incidentally the Hebrew "bare" also came to mean "the grazing of animals" since they made bare the area they ate in. From this it became applied to animals in general and to beasts of burden. The English word "bear" connoting to carry and by extrapolation to endure also may come from this source.

 
[Psalms 92:7] WHEN THE WICKED SPRING AS THE GRASS, AND WHEN ALL THE WORKERS OF INIQUITY DO FLOURISH; IT IS THAT THEY SHALL BE DESTROYED FOR EVER:                     
<<SPRING AS THE GRASS. The wicked make themselves out to be no matter than any other work of nature. Just as grass seems to grow up by itself and owes nothing to nobody so do they consider themselves.
 
[Psalms 92:8] BUT THOU, LORD, ART MOST HIGH FOR EVERMORE.                     
 
[Psalms 92:9] FOR, LO, THINE ENEMIES, O LORD, FOR, LO, THINE ENEMIES SHALL PERISH; ALL THE WORKERS OF INIQUITY SHALL BE SCATTERED.                     
INIQUITY: Hebrew "OVeN" (the same as "Aven") connoting says S.R. Hirsch the misuse or abuse of power.
ALL THE WORKERS OF INIQUITY in this case are the abusers of power, people in authority, who given a bad example and work for their own selfish gain.  Most people are corrupt because they follow the example of public leaders. This includes all those who have influence on the public such as the Media and Entertainers.  Left to themselves ordinary people have a natural urge to do what is right and acceptable. They also have animal instincts.  They will either curb or give expression to their baser natures according to what is conventionally acceptable. Conventionality is in turn determined by Public Figures.

 
[Psalms 92:10] BUT MY HORN SHALT THOU EXALT LIKE THE HORN OF AN UNICORN: I SHALL BE  ANOINTED WITH FRESH OIL.     
UNICORN: Hebrew "Raem".                
 
[Psalms 92:11] MINE EYE ALSO SHALL SEE MY DESIRE ON MINE ENEMIES, AND MINE EARS SHALL HEAR MY DESIRE OF THE WICKED THAT RISE UP AGAINST ME.
The last part of this verse may be understood to have double meaning. The primary meaning is as interpreted but it is also sometimes popularly rendered as if to say, "When others criticize me let my eyes hear".  No-one likes being criticized. It happens that criticism is not justified or exaggerated or is a cloak for simple malice. Nevertheless it is also often pertinent.  When we hear criticism of ourselves we should take it to heart, consider what truth there is to it and whether or not we can improve on the points in question.                      
 
[Psalms 92:12] THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL FLOURISH LIKE THE PALM TREE: HE SHALL GROW LIKE A CEDAR IN LEBANON.                     
 
[Psalms 92:13] THOSE THAT BE PLANTED IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD SHALL FLOURISH IN THE COURTS OF OUR GOD.  
The marks of old age can strike anyone. Everyone is vulnerable. Nevertheless it is well known that they who live good lives and especially those who study the Torah often grow even more lucid in the evening of their days. What is more the good that we do lives after us and we flourish through it.                  
 
[Psalms 92:14] THEY SHALL STILL BRING FORTH FRUIT IN OLD AGE; THEY SHALL BE FAT AND FLOURISHING;
Those who are righteous and go in the path of the Almighty shall keep on going when other throw in the towel. They shall be enabled in their own age to be productive, appreciative, and appreciated.                    
 
[Psalms 92:15] TO SHEW THAT THE LORD IS UPRIGHT: HE IS MY ROCK, AND THERE IS NO UNRIGHTEOUSNESS IN HIM. 
Everything God does is justified.   
UNRIGHTEOUSNESS emanates from us or from others but not from the Almighty.
