Psalms 97
[Psalms 97:1] THE LORD REIGNETH; LET THE EARTH REJOICE; LET THE MULTITUDE OF ISLES BE GLAD THEREOF.
The Mairi explains this Psalm as dealing with the Future Redemption of  Israel and Mankind in general. All of creation will have reason to rejoice.
LET THE EARTH REJOICE: The
Malbim points out that God reigns over nature and however HE wills nature responds. It is as if whatever God decides should be done that nature in parallel resonates with the decision and is experienced almost like an independent entity acting in its own right.

[Psalms 97:2] CLOUDS AND DARKNESS ARE ROUND ABOUT HIM: RIGHTEOUSNESS AND JUDGMENT ARE  THE HABITATION OF HIS THRONE.
The Mairi says that all they who return to God in the Last Days will have reason to rejoice whereas for those who continue their in rebellion it will all be darkness.

[Psalms 97:3] A FIRE GOETH BEFORE HIM, AND BURNETH UP HIS ENEMIES ROUND ABOUT.

[Psalms 97:4] HIS LIGHTNINGS ENLIGHTENED THE WORLD: THE EARTH SAW, AND TREMBLED.

[Psalms 97:5] THE HILLS MELTED LIKE WAX AT THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD, AT THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD OF THE WHOLE EARTH.

[Psalms 97:6] THE HEAVENS DECLARE HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND ALL THE PEOPLE SEE HIS GLORY.

[Psalms 97:7] CONFOUNDED BE ALL THEY THAT SERVE GRAVEN IMAGES, THAT BOAST THEMSELVES OF  IDOLS: WORSHIP HIM, ALL YE GODS.
GRAVEN IMAGES: Hebrew "pesel" which is a play on words. In Hebrew to can mean both "something that is carved out" (i.e. GRAVEN IMAGE) as well as something that is disqualified for use and/or rubbish that is discarded.
IDOLS: Hebrew "
elilim".
GODS: Hebrew "
Elohim".

[Psalms 97:8] ZION HEARD, AND WAS GLAD; AND THE DAUGHTERS OF JUDAH REJOICED BECAUSE OF  THY JUDGMENTS, O LORD.

[Psalms 97:9] FOR THOU, LORD, ART HIGH ABOVE ALL THE EARTH: THOU ART EXALTED FAR ABOVE ALL  GODS.

[Psalms 97:10] YE THAT LOVE THE LORD, HATE EVIL: HE PRESERVETH THE SOULS OF HIS SAINTS; HE  DELIVERETH THEM OUT OF THE HAND OF THE WICKED.
HATE EVIL:  this is an exhortation, i.e. If you Love God, then hate evil. Do not tolerate evil deeds and do not look with favor on sin even if you are not participating.

[Psalms 97:11] LIGHT IS SOWN FOR THE RIGHTEOUS, AND GLADNESS FOR THE UPRIGHT IN HEART.
There is reward for those who remain righteous and happiness.
The seeds of the Future Redemption are already with us and within us. This applies also to the exultation of the Human Spirit that will result from the Future Deliverance. There are times when we may experience this ourselves through increased awareness of Divine Providence and the Closeness of the Almighty when we call to HIM or simply when we act as we should.

[Psalms 97:12] REJOICE IN THE LORD, YE RIGHTEOUS; AND GIVE THANKS AT THE REMEMBRANCE  OF HIS HOLINESS.
