News - Africa: Albinos live in fear after Burundi attacks
http://www.africancrisis.co.za/Article.php?ID=35495&
Date Posted: Thursday 02-Oct-2008
Bujumbura - Two albinos were murdered and cut into pieces in Burundi by
attackers suspected of seeking to sell the body parts in Tanzania where witch
doctors use them for lucky potions, officials said on Thursday.
The grisly murders have caused panic among the small Central African country's
albino community, forcing the authorities to gather them in a few protected
areas.
Daniel Nzeyimana was attacked on Wednesday by gunmen armed with rifles at his
home in Bweru, a town in the eastern province of Ruyigi, local governor Moise
Bucumi said.
"They decapitated him, cut off his arms and legs and made away with the parts,"
he said.
In the same province, a 16-year-old girl was killed in a similar incident on
September 22. "She was murdered, and again they cut off her arms and legs and
took them away," the governor said.
"According to the investigation's preliminary findings, these crimes are
connected to witchcraft... The locals claim these people go to Tanzania to sell
these albino arms and legs, where they will be used to make charms and potions,"
Bucumi said.
"The albinos are terrified. We have decided to gather them in small groups and
around a dozen have already found refuge in a municipal facility in Bweru, where
their security is ensured," he said.
The governor of Ruyigi also said that an awareness campaign would be launched to
combat the trade in body parts and belief in witchcraft.
Tanzania has been plagued by a series of attacks targeting albinos, spurring the
government into launching nationwide awareness and protection programmes.
An albino was appointed to parliament earlier this year to defend the
community's rights in the east African country, where President Jakaya Kikwete
said at least 19 murders had been reported over the past year. - AFP

3. Palestinian Background: There are NO Moderate
Palestinians!
Present leadership of PLA not democratically elected. Hamas represents
ALL Palestine!
The Palestinian Authority DOES NOT REPRESENT THE PALESTINIANS!
It is therefore doubtful whether any "peace agreement" reached with such a body
would have any value!
The "PA" in effect seems to have been helped into existence (and still being
maintained) by Western Powers in order that
there be some body to which Israel could make "concessions"!
Background Information:
The Palestinians were first headed by the PLO (Fatah) which was never elected
democratically but assumed control
through force and terror against other Palestinians.
In 1993 the Oslo Accords paved the way for the PA.
The Oslo Accords granted the Palestinians right to self-government in the Gaza
Strip and the city of Jericho in the West Bank through the creation of the
Palestinian Authority.
The PLO was declared the "sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian
People" in the Oslo Accords.
In 1994 the Palestinian Authority (PA) was created as a de facto ruling body
over that section of the Palestinians
in the Land of Israel who were granted autonomy.
Yasser Arafat (head of the PLO) was elected president of the PA in January 1996.
The headquarters were moved to Ramallah.
Arafat died of AIDS in 2004.
In January 2005 Mahmoud Abbas was elected President receiving 62% of the vote
after Hma and Islamic Jihad had boycotted the elctions.
Abbas had received a PhD from Moscow for writing a thesis denying the Holocaust.
In 2006 Hamas won a majority in the PA Legislature.
In 2007 Abbas dissolved the Hamas led rulership under PM Ismail Haniyeh.
Abbas in effect rules over the PA thanks to his control of the PLO-derived
militia
along with Israeli, US, and EU backing. The PLO faction under Abbas rules over
the PA
except in Gaza which is controlled by the Hamas.
Abbas is considered a moderate but he is not. He also does not represents the
Palestians.
If anyone does represent the Palestinians it is Hamas!
Hamas is in effect a suicide Jihad-type Nazi organization.
The PLO-faction under Abbas on the other hand is also of Nazi type but they are
less prepared to commit
suicide in order to kill Jews. That is about the major difference between
between them.
Hamas
according to Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamas
Extracts:
Hamas
... is a Palestinian Islamic political party which currently holds a majority of
seats in the elected legislative council of the Palestinian National
Authority...
Hamas
was created in 1987 by Sheikh Ahmed
Yassin
and Mohammad Taha
of the Palestinian wing of the Muslim Brotherhood at the beginning of the First
Intifada.
Notorious for its numerous suicide bombings and other attacks[2] on Israeli
civilians and security forces,
Hamas also runs extensive social
programs[3] and has gained popularity in Palestinian society by establishing
hospitals, education systems, libraries and other services[4] throughout the
West Bank and Gaza Strip.[3]
Hamas' charter calls for the
destruction of the State of Israel and its replacement with a Palestinian
Islamic state in the area that is now Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza
Strip...its founding charter, writings, and many of its public statements[8]
reflect the influence of
antisemitic conspiracy
theories.[9]
...In January 2006, Hamas
won a surprise victory in the Palestinian parliamentary elections, taking 76 of
the 132 seats in the chamber, while the ruling
Fatah
party took 43.[10] The Hamas
charter states: "There is no solution for the Palestinian question except
through Jihad,"[11] and this stance has found a receptive audience among
Palestinians; many perceived the preceding
Fatah
government as corrupt and ineffective, and
Hamas's
supporters see it as an "armed resistance"[12] movement defending Palestinians
from the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.[13] However, since
Hamas's
election victory, particularly sharp infighting has occurred between
Hamas
and Fatah,
leading to many Palestinian deaths.[14][15]
In the months leading up to June 2007, the United States, with the collusion of
Israel, armed and funded militias controlled by Mohammed
Dahlan
and nominally loyal to Palestinian Authority President
Mahmoud
Abbas
and his Fatah
faction. These militias were assigned to overthrow the
Hamas-led
government so that it could be replaced with a US-backed "emergency government."
The plan was personally approved by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and
President George W. Bush who called
Dahlan
"our guy." Hamas
pre-empted this coup attempt and took over control of the interior of the Gaza
Strip forcing the coup plotters to flee to Egypt, Israel and the West Bank.[16]
Following the Battle for Gaza in June 2007, elected
Hamas
officials were ousted from their positions in the Palestinian National Authority
government in the West Bank, replaced by rival
Fatah
members and independents in an action that many Palestinians and other experts
considered illegal.[17][18] On 18 June 2007, Palestinian President
Mahmoud
Abbas
(Fatah)
issued a decree outlawing the
Hamas militia and executive
force.[19]
Hamas
is listed as a terrorist organization by Canada,[20] the European
Union,[21][22][23][24] Israel,[25] Japan,[26] and the United States,[27] and is
banned in Jordan.[28] Australia[29] and the United Kingdom[30] list only the
military wing of Hamas,
the Izz
ad-Din al-Qassam
Brigades, as a terrorist organization. ..
According to the US State Department, the group is funded by Saudi Arabia, Iran,
Palestinian expatriates, and private benefactors in other Arab states.[27]
In an interview aired on Al-Aqsa
TV on April 9, 2008, Hamas
Culture Minister Atallah
Abu Al-Subh
stated that "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is the faith that every Jew
harbors in his heart". [90]
In 2005, Khaled
Mashaal
described Ahmadinejad's
Holocaust denial as "courageous" and stated that "...Muslim people will defend
Iran because it voices what they have in their hearts, in particular the
Palestinian people."[94]
