1. Question: How Many Major Exiles Were There?
Answer: Roughly Speaking we may say there were three major exiles each one of which may be subdivided into
different phases.
The thre major exiles were:
a. The Exile of the Ten Tribes who did not return. This "Assyrian" Exile may also be divided into three stages, see Question 2 below.
b. The First "Babylonian" Exile of the Jews with the fall of the First Temple and from which exile a portion of the Jews returned under Ezra and Nehemiah.
c. The Second Exile of the Jews and their Dispersion with the fall of the Second Temple.
2. Question: What Can You tell us about the Exile of the Ten Tribes?
Answer: The Ten Tribes were exiled in three main stages. They never returned from their exile and knowledge of their identitiy was on the whole lost to themselves and lost to others.

Isaiah 9:1 speaks of the Stages of Exile
