(ca. 9 minutes)

BETH
[Psalms 119:9] WHEREWITHAL SHALL A YOUNG MAN CLEANSE HIS WAY? BY TAKING HEED THERETO  ACCORDING TO THY WORD.
The first word of every verse in this eight-verse stanza begins with the Hebrew letter "beth" which is the equivalent of "B".
A YOUNG MAN. Hebrew "nar" which as well as meaning "young man" may also connote "novice, apprentice, learner".  Joshua was considered the "nar" of Moses (Exodus 33:11) even though he must have been close to 80 at the time. He was the understudy of Moses. In a sense we are all "young men" or "novices". We are all just beginning. We have all made mistakes in the past or at the least there are certain things that with hindsight we would have preferred to have don differently.  We can compensate for this and begin anew, as if we really were beginners by learning Scripture.

[Psalms 119:10] WITH MY WHOLE HEART HAVE I SOUGHT THEE: O LET ME NOT WANDER FROM THY   COMMANDMENTS.
We ask God to guide us and help us not to depart from the particular course in life that the Almighty has set before us.

[Psalms 119:11] THY WORD HAVE I HID IN MINE HEART, THAT I MIGHT NOT SIN AGAINST THEE.
Learn the Bible. Memorize verses from scripture. Take to heart the overall message of the Holy Writ. Store it up. When temptation and tribulation come our way often the Biblical message we have stored away will re-appear to succor us.

[Psalms 119:12] BLESSED ART THOU, O LORD: TEACH ME THY STATUTES.
We ask God to teach us general rules of conduct, to know what to do instinctively even if we do not have entirely rational explanations at the moment in question for the path we embark upon.

[Psalms 119:13] WITH MY LIPS HAVE I DECLARED ALL THE JUDGMENTS OF THY MOUTH.
It is good to openly declare these truths we believe in. It strengthens us and makes an impression upon others. Through the enunciation of our faith insights into ourselves and our surroundings may be obtained.

[Psalms 119:14] I HAVE REJOICED IN THE WAY OF THY TESTIMONIES, AS MUCH AS IN ALL RICHES.
Knowledge is power and riches.  It vitalizes us. This is true many times more when the knowledge is that Scripture and matters pertaining to it.

[Psalms 119:15] I WILL MEDITATE IN THY PRECEPTS, AND HAVE RESPECT UNTO THY WAYS.
Notices that in this stanza of eight verses every verse contains a reference to the Torah and Commandments. As we mentioned in the introduction to section Aleph this pattern continues in every one of the 176 verses of this Psalm.

[Psalms 119:16] I WILL DELIGHT MYSELF IN THY STATUTES: I WILL NOT FORGET THY WORD.
Through learning rules of conduct pertinent to us our hearts rejoice and we feel liberated.
