Psalms 119-caph

CAPH
This set of eight verses has every first word of each verse in the Hebrew Original beginning with the letter Caph which has a numerical value of 20. Caph is the equivalent of the English letter "C". The word "Caph" actually means "palm of the hand" and the letter is shaped like an open palm, and so is the English "C" which looks the same as it is but points in the opposite direction. From the Hebrew "caph" we probably get the English word "cup" meaning a drinking utensil held in the palm of the hand. We also have the word "cuff" meaning to hit someone with an open hand i.e. with the palm of the hand. Another word is cuff links which are buttons inserted at the end of a sleeve. This is derived from Middle English "cuffe" meaning glove which covers the palm of the hand.
[Psalms 119:81] MY SOUL FAINTETH FOR THY SALVATION: BUT I HOPE IN THY WORD.
[Psalms 119:82] MINE EYES FAIL FOR THY WORD, SAYING, WHEN WILT THOU COMFORT ME?
THY WORD. In Hebrew "Imrateca" meaning "your rule" or "directing words". We long for God to guide us through life so that we not make mistakes and do the right thing both for our own sakes and for the sake of all those dependent on us and around us and affected by us.
When we become aware that God is guiding us and that we are doing the right thing we feel comforted.
[Psalms 119:83] FOR I AM BECOME LIKE A BOTTLE IN THE SMOKE; YET DO I NOT FORGET THY STATUTES.
BOTTLE. Hebrew "Ce-Nod" meaning "like a leather bag" which dries up from the smoke when placed close to a fire. Even though things are difficult and Divine Providence seems less close to me than I need it to be I am keeping the faith and obeying the law by doing what my task in this world is as I understand it to be.
[Psalms 119:84] HOW MANY ARE THE DAYS OF THY SERVANT?
WHEN WILT THOU EXECUTE JUDGMENT ON THEM THAT PERSECUTE ME?
Life is short. I need to feel the guiding hand of God as soon as possible.
I am being persecuted and oppressed by enemies who are also the enemies of God.
The Bible repeats frequently that the enemies of Israel are also the enemies of the Almighty.
[Psalms 119:85] THE PROUD HAVE DIGGED PITS FOR ME, WHICH ARE NOT AFTER THY LAW.
The evil wicked-doers (Hebrew "zaydim" translated as "proud") have set traps against me even though I do not deserve it. They want to harm us. They want to harm the Jews and descendants of Israel. The non-Israelite nations hate us and try to hurt us even though we do not deserve it and they cannot justify themselves. They are going against the Laws of God.
[Psalms 119:86] ALL THY COMMANDMENTS ARE FAITHFUL: THEY PERSECUTE ME WRONGFULLY; HELP THOU ME.
Trying to consciously do the will of God is the equivalent of keeping the Commandments. If we do this God will help us.
[Psalms 119:87] THEY HAD ALMOST CONSUMED ME UPON EARTH; BUT I FORSOOK NOT THY PRECEPTS.
If God does not help us our enemies are liable to overcome us.
All the nations of the earth (Arabs, Palestinians, Muslims, Chinese, Koreans, Russians, African blacks, Hispanics, etc, all of them) want to destroy the Jews and to destroy Britain and America. They are liable to succeed unless God continues to help us.
[Psalms 119:88] QUICKEN ME AFTER THY LOVINGKINDNESS; SO SHALL I KEEP THE TESTIMONY OF THY MOUTH.
We promise God that we will continue to do what is right and to seek to do HIS will. We ask him to invigorate us and give us life and vitality so that we may overcome our enemies and continue to do what we should be doing and do consciously or subconsciously try to do.
America on the whole does try to support the State of Israel and does try to do what is right in the world even though all the other nations pretend the opposite.
We ask God to help us and HE will do so.
