VAV
[Psalms 119:41] LET THY MERCIES COME ALSO UNTO ME, O LORD, EVEN THY SALVATION,   ACCORDING TO THY WORD.
These eight verses all begin with the Hebrew letter "vav" which in English is the equivalent of V and W.  Nowadays "vav" in Hebrew is pronounced as a "V" but in ancient times in some grammatical constructs it could be pronounced as a "w" and the Temenite Jews still pronounce it this way. Once we realize that "vav" could be sounded as a "w" we find words in English that, after taking account dialectical differences, have the same meanings in Hebrew.
Examples are "With" (Hebrew: "ve-et" i.e. "we-eth");  "What" (Hebrew: "ve-et" i.e. "we-eth"); "Which" (Hebrew: "ve-asher" i.e. "we-ash[the "er" was often dropped in Phoenician]).
Other possibilities include "was" and "when".
LET THY MERCIES COME. God has promised HE would save us, e.g.
FOR THE LORD YOUR GOD IS HE THAT GOETH WITH YOU, TO FIGHT FOR YOU AGAINST YOUR ENEMIES, TO SAVE YOU [Deuteronomy 20:4]. Even though deliverance has been promised to us the Almighty gives it to us because HE is merciful to us. We may not necessarily deserve to be saved but God will save us anyway.

[Psalms 119:42] SO SHALL I HAVE WHEREWITH TO ANSWER HIM THAT REPROACHETH ME: FOR I TRUST IN THY WORD.
In the end we will be able to look back and show whoever has doubts that it was all worth it. The Almighty does not deserve they who believe in HIM.

[Psalms 119:43] AND TAKE NOT THE WORD OF TRUTH UTTERLY OUT OF MY MOUTH; FOR I HAVE HOPED IN THY JUDGMENTS.
Let me always trust in YOU. Let not my trust be disappointed so that it make me look like someone who believes and is not requited well for it.

[Psalms 119:44] SO SHALL I KEEP THY LAW CONTINUALLY FOR EVER AND EVER.
I will keep YOUR Torah forever no matter what but let me be saved through believing in you so that the human element within me will acquiesce my going in your ways.
This is an important aspect of Torah.
We are all spiritual. We all have a mystical believing side and would be prepared to believe no matter what. Some people, like Job, do indeed have their beliefs and faith put severely to the test. Nevertheless the Torah is also down to earth. The Almighty promises that if we keep HIS ways HE will reward us and this is also a reason for believing. In general most of the time most of they who believe in the Bible and try to do as well as they can according to their understanding receive a blessing. This is undeniable and may be seen with our own eyes day by day. It happens that the blessing may be mixed with tribulation or even hidden by it but the blessing is there.

[Psalms 119:45] AND I WILL WALK AT LIBERTY: FOR I SEEK THY PRECEPTS.
LIBERTY. Hebrew "rachavah" literally "expanse" meaning in the open with plenty of room and without restriction. If we seek to do the will of God very often we are liberated from other concerns that previously had been weighing us down.

[Psalms 119:46] I WILL SPEAK OF THY TESTIMONIES ALSO BEFORE KINGS, AND WILL NOT BE ASHAMED.
We can proof the truth of the Bible to anyone including the most respected and enlightened. This knowledge makes us the equal of other intellects. They need to be apologetic to us, not us to them.

[Psalms 119:47] AND I WILL DELIGHT MYSELF IN THY COMMANDMENTS, WHICH I HAVE LOVED.
We should seek to know what the Almighty wants from us and delight in it. What God wants from one person may not be the same as that expected of another. Each opne has their own task and destiny.

[Psalms 119:48] MY HANDS ALSO WILL I LIFT UP UNTO THY COMMANDMENTS, WHICH I HAVE LOVED; AND I WILL MEDITATE IN THY STATUTES.
The raising up of the arms indicates both supplication and prayer.
In Biblical times it would seem that the raising of the arms was a physical accompaniment to prayer. These days most of us are not used to constant heavy physical labor. Physical constitutions have changed.   The principle however remains the same. We should seek out what God wants from us and pray that it be revealed to us. We should meditate in the Statutes or laws or matters that have been revealed to us in other cases and see what we should learn from them that is applicable to us now.
MEDITATE. In Hebrew "va-asicha",  literally "I will talk". This is also a form of meditation. We should talk it out to ourselves or in the form of a prayer and entreaty. We can also speak about it to a companion who is prepared to listen and at least to some degree is on the "same wave length".  They do not have to agree with us. As long as they are prepared to listen and are interested in doing so that is enough. Sometimes through talking about matters we may reach conclusions and gain insights that we had not consciously grasped previously.
