Psalms Chapter 150: All of US, our very beings, and everything else should Praise the Almighty; Haleluyah!

Psalm 150

[Psalm 150:1] Praise the LORD! [Haleluyah!]
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!

Praise in Hebrew is "Halel". This is where the English word "hail" comes from.
His sanctuary. This is the Temple. Even though the temple in Jerusalem is now in ruins and has
muslim buildings desecrating the holy site the Presence of the Almighty is still there!

  His mighty firmament! The Temple Site parallels a heavenly equivalent.

 [Psalm 150:2] Praise Him for His mighty acts;
 Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!

God should be praised not only because of His majesty and in finite power but also because HE has mercy on us, forgives us, leads us forward.

[Psalm 150:3] Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!

  the trumpet. Hebrew "shofar" i.e. horn of the ram.
the lute. Hebrew "naval" (or "
nabal") which could refer to the bagpipes.

[Psalm 150:4] Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!

 [Psalm 150:5] Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!

 [Psalm 150:6] Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD! [Haleluyah!]

  #everything that has breath # in Hebrew "col [everything, all] ha-nashama".
"ha-
nashama" is translated here as "that has breath".  This indeed could be one interpretation of the expression. Nevertheless a more acceptable rendition would be "soul". "Nashama" in Hebrew connotes the soul i.e. that potion of the spiritual subconscious that is always aware of the Almighty and that in the Afterlife will render an accounting.
The soul knows the truth always.  Our souls are called upon to praise the ALMIGHTY.
