2. Tracing Jewish Ancestry: 2nd Letter
to John.
Re: Brit-Am Now no. 1884 #2
#2. Question on Coming to Israel.
John Shalom,
In your first letter it was not so clear that you were of Jewish descent.
People with questions like your own may be divided into two classes.
a. Those who believe they are descended from the Ten Tribes and wish to settle
in Israel.
b. Those who are descended from Jews but for some reason or other cannot settle
in Israel though they would wish to do so.
The two cases may be related but are different.
In the first case,
The persons in question must realize that they pertain to the Ten Tribes and not
to Judah (unless they wish to do so).
Their destiny is therefore with that of the Ten Tribes.
Increased awareness of Ten Tribes ancestry amongst those to whom it pertains is
what is needed at present.
In the second case increased Jewish consciousness and involvement with fellow
Jews is required.
I do not know you personally.
Nor do I know your situation other than what you have described.
Concerning people of Jewish descent in general.
To be recognized as Jewish according to Orthodox Judaism one should have a
Jewish mother, or convert.
In many cities of North America there are Israeli Consuls or representatives of
the Jewish Agency.
They are authorized and trained to answer questions concerning aliyah.
In addition one has the offices of Chabad, or in Orthodox communities local
rabbinical authorities. These are often able to track down records concerning
Jewish relatives etc.
Do not dismiss these services since they can be surprisingly helpful.
In addition there are numerous web sites or e-mail genealogical discussion
groups etc. These may have information in their archives.
Alternately information may be obtained by subscribing to them and sending in
questions.
In some cases it may even be worth while paying someone to tack down the
information.
At all events do not dismiss the possibility of records being available without
first checking into to it.
If you go through all of the above and still do not find an answer then accept
it.
Apparently the Almighty wants it this way.
Each one of us has a task in life and perhaps yours required such a lacuna or
blind spot?
God bless you

3. Alex Zafran: Remarks on Economic
Collapse and the Coming of the Messiah
Re Brit-Am Now no.1883
#3. Marieta Louw: Economic Collapse May Bring the Israelites Home!
Hello Yair,
Just want to make a little comment on a beautiful dream of Marieta
Louw concerning the Ten Tribes of Israel who will supposedly return to
the Promised Land because of the Economic Collapse in the countries
they are currently residing. I call it 'a dream' or fantasy
because this idea find no support in the Bible, Talmud, and Rabbinical
Sources. The Scripture tells us that the first and foremost task of
the Messiah is to reunite and bring 12 Tribes home!
Not that 'they must return to the Holy Land before coming of the
Messiah'. What is for the Messiah is coming then? And before that God
promised to send the prophet Elijah to prepare the way for advent of
the Messiah.
Secondly, before coming to the Promised Land, Israel must repent,
acknowledge God of their fathers and His heavenly Torah. That is
precisely what God wants them to do! Collapse of economies or any
other destruction would not make them sinless people, who will
suddenly recall their Israelite identity and become true worshipers of the
Almighty God of Israel.
I fully agree with the last part of Marieta's letter saying that
God has control in the world's affairs and that Brit-Am is on the
winning side to promote God's business.
Thank you,
Alexander Zephyr
Brit-Am Comment:
Exactly how and what will happen in the Times of the Messiah is not
certain. This was emphasized by Maimonides (Melacim ch.8).
Brit-Am is concerned with proving who the Lost Ten Tribes are. Anything beyond
this is open to discussion.
Having said that, we may opine in the light of our studies that the return of
the Ten Tribes may begin before the coming of the Messiah.
Return in this case may mean areas on the periphery of Greater Israel such as
Iraq, Lebanon, Cyprus, and Syria (Zechariah 10:10 Micah 7:14).
By Messiah we mean the Messiah descendant of David.
There is also another Messiah who will be descended from Joseph. He will begin
the return. He will also prepare the way for reunification with Judah.
The Return of the Ten Tribes may be preceded by awareness on the part of both
Judah and Joseph as to their Hebrew ancestry.
By helping Brit-Am one helps the Coming of the Messiah.
The Temple may be rebuilt before the coming of the Messiah.
The Return of the Ten Tribes may precede their return to the Torah. This is
indicated by Ezekiel (11:18-20) .

The Order of Return of Joseph.
