Psalms 119-21
SCHIN (shin)
This section begins with the letter "Shin". This is is the equivalent of the English "S" or "Sh". It has an numerical value of 300.
Hard to define one central theme for this section beyond the overall theme found throughout Psalm 119 of Keeping the Law and the value of the commandments.
The section speaks of keeping the Law despite persecution, hatred of evil and of falsehood, praising God, rejoicing in the commandments and hope for salvation.

[Psalms 119:161] PRINCES HAVE PERSECUTED ME WITHOUT A CAUSE: BUT MY HEART STANDETH IN  AWE OF THY WORD.
PRINCES. Hebrew "sarim". A prince is "Sar" in Hebrew. From here we get the English words "Sire" and "sir".  Here the meaning of "sarim" is not only powerful rulers  but all men of accomplishment and influence.  They who believe in the Bible and work for Biblical values will often encounter opposition and hatred from influential people of importance. They hate the Bible for no reason, tell lies about it and about it, treat Bible-believers with contempt and sometimes persecute them.  Despite all this a true Bible-believer will stand fast in fear of the word of the Almighty and not in fear of flesh and blood.

[Psalms 119:162] I REJOICE AT THY WORD, AS ONE THAT FINDETH GREAT SPOIL.
I REJOICE. Hebrew "sas".  A new understanding of Biblical truth  or an enhanced appreciation of that which we already know is like finding hidden treasures of great value.

[Psalms 119:163] I HATE AND ABHOR LYING: BUT THY LAW DO I LOVE.
Hate falsehood. Keep away from it. Avoid accepting it or believing in it. The Bible is true, cling to it.
The truth of the Biblke can save us from being mislead from the lies of this world.

[Psalms 119:164] SEVEN TIMES A DAY DO I PRAISE THEE BECAUSE OF THY RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENTS.
SEVEN. Hebrew "sheva" pronounceable as "shevan" and in Northern Israel as "sevan". From here comes the English word "seven".

[Psalms 119:165] GREAT PEACE HAVE THEY WHICH LOVE THY LAW: AND NOTHING SHALL OFFEND THEM.
#AND NOTHING SHALL OFFEND THEM#: In Hebrew this expression could perhaps be preferably translated as "THERE IS NO STUMBLING BLOCK BEFORE THEM". They shall not make mistakes or be impeded in their search for the truth.

[Psalms 119:166] LORD, I HAVE HOPED FOR THY SALVATION, AND DONE THY COMMANDMENTS.
#I HAVE HOPED#. Hebrew "Sibarti" from the root "saber" or "sover" literally meaning "think, consider".  This word-root probably gave rise to our English word "sober".

[Psalms 119:167] MY SOUL HATH KEPT THY TESTIMONIES; AND I LOVE THEM EXCEEDINGLY.

[Psalms 119:168] I HAVE KEPT THY PRECEPTS AND THY TESTIMONIES: FOR ALL MY WAYS ARE BEFORE THEE.
We should have the Almighty before us always. This will enable us to keep the commandments.
