Psalms 119-daleth

To Hear a Talk based on the Text below:

(ca. 11 minutes)

DALETH
[Psalms 119:25] MY SOUL CLEAVETH UNTO THE DUST: QUICKEN THOU ME ACCORDING TO THY WORD.
He feels abjected and finds that only through learning the Law or the word of Scripture can he revitalize himself. This is a known phenomenon and something that is to be welcomed and utilized for as long as it lasts.
QUICKEN. Hebrew "chi-yaynu" meaning give me life, revitalize me.

[Psalms 119:26] I HAVE DECLARED MY WAYS, AND THOU HEARDEST ME: TEACH ME THY STATUTES.
He declared the ways of the Almighty and God heard him and directed him. He now asks for greater insights and constant ones.

[Psalms 119:27] MAKE ME TO UNDERSTAND THE WAY OF THY PRECEPTS: SO SHALL I TALK OF THY   WONDROUS WORKS.
By understanding the ways of the Bible and Bible thought we come to comprehend something as to how the Almighty conducts HIS creation in general.

[Psalms 119:28] MY SOUL MELTETH FOR HEAVINESS: STRENGTHEN THOU ME ACCORDING UNTO THY  WORD.
He returns to the theme of the first verse in this section of Psalm 119-dalth. At first he asked to be quickened or revitalized, enlivened.
Now he asks to be strengthened. The Hebrew word here is "Kimani" meaning maintain me.
Keep me going. He has already realized within himself the vitality he needs but he still requires strength to continue. Now he knows as long as he continues he will have the necessary "liveliness" to delve ever deeper into Scripture.

[Psalms 119:29] REMOVE FROM ME THE WAY OF LYING: AND GRANT ME THY LAW GRACIOUSLY.
LYING. Hebrew "sheker" meaning falsehood. We do not want to lie or be lied to. We do not want to be mislead by the lies of others or to deceive ourselves. We ask the Almighty to show us the truth so that we may know what must be done.

[Psalms 119:30] I HAVE CHOSEN THE WAY OF TRUTH: THY JUDGMENTS HAVE I LAID BEFORE ME.
Once we begin to go in a true path and endeavor to always prefer the truth the necessary decisions that we make will be true ones.

[Psalms 119:31] I HAVE STUCK UNTO THY TESTIMONIES: O LORD, PUT ME NOT TO SHAME.
Every time one does something out of the ordinary and goes beyond the conventionally-accepted there exists a risk of failing and of embarrassment before others. We ask God to help us make the right decisions.

[Psalms 119:32] I WILL RUN THE WAY OF THY COMMANDMENTS, WHEN THOU SHALT ENLARGE MY HEART.
If we try to do what God wants of us our hearts will be enlarged. We will understand things better and gain a clearer and truer overall picture.
